- The thing about death is that nobody''s willing to die for it.

I''m sorry fellow patriot FeelFree1, but our dangerous time is trying and frightening to the even the most steadfast amongst us, and I include you in that number.

- "However, the Post reports that there is no consensus on why that movement of bodies has slowed - and some intelligence indicates it may be due to al Qaeda shifting its focus from Iraq to other areas."

- "The Post report sites evidence such as the dramatic reduction in suicide bomb attacks - considered a hallmark of al Qaeda worldwide - from more than 60 in January to about half that per month since July."
So according to the administration and the military, conducting an average of ONE SUICIDE BOMBING PER DAY EVERY DAY OF THE MONTH constitutes "defeat" for AQI?
Does anyone think that if any organization like AQI detonated one bomb per day in populated areas of the US, week in and week out, we''d be calling that a victory?

It''s very true that the Democrats and Al Qaeda have this in common: Neither can afford for the US to win in Iraq.
They both have too much to lose.- Reply to this comment
- ..Any good news from Iraq is bad news for Democrats....

Another idiotic neocon hate radio myth. The lengths you morons go to to rationalize your warmongering.
I consider this article, at face value, to be good news. It''s a great reason to end this thing faster. - Reply to this comment
- I wonder if the military knows the difference between being defeated and going underground/rebuilding?
Once the "surge" is over, we may see another "surge" - this time by al-qaeda. - Reply to this comment
- Any body who ever served in the Military like I did, knows how tiring and trouble some are the road marches.
There are thousands feet high Hindu Kush Mountainous range between Afghanistan and Pakistan. How come a kidney patient, old and sick, OSAMA BEEN-FORGOTTEN climbed those high mountain peaks and escaped from Afghanistan to Pakistan without getting caught by our Military and without being pin pointed by our settalites and CIA?
Can somebody please explain to me, why Bush''''s priority changed from capturing our number one enemy OSAMA BEEN-FORGOTTEN to SADDAM HUSSAIN who never attacked United States and was protecting Minorities like Catholics from Islamic Radicals in his own country ? - Reply to this comment
Here we have nearly 800 comments for an anonymously authored article, devoid of any verifiable information, and citing only baseless allegations made by unnamed U.S. war criminals, concerning imaginary "terror" groups, as its only foundation.
This article is a true mockery to the concept of journalism. It could be used as a signature example of yellow-journalism for freshman journalism students throughout our country.
Someone apparently feels very strongly that the American people believe in the existance of the fabled "al-Qaeda-in-Iraq", and that they have been defeated, again.- Reply to this comment

- downtowner97,,,, Actually that''s a bit of a stretch, According to the Commandant of the Marine Corps tonight,,, Yes there has been progress, but, Al Queda is definately not defeated,,, They have an amazing ability to regroup......... We shall see, but recognize the hype as the same old hype.

- b48151 The article, if you took the time to read it, says that we have captured or killed all Al Qaida in Iraq members and leaders, and that they are so badly beaten they are unlikely to come back, and that they are only attacking our troops an average of 30 times a month. Where are the 30 attacks a month coming from if we''ve captured or killed them all?
