This is a move to cover the fact that Afganistan is lost. By all accounts, the Taliban is surging back to former strength and will overrun US forces if something is not done SOON and that means the next 2 months.

The situation in Afganistan is critical. You watch, those forces that are suppose to come home in Dec will be sent to Afganistan.

These marines who want out of Iraq must be those "phoney soldiers" Rush Limbaugh talked about.
Any soldier who doesn''t agree with Rush, Hannity and Coulter are just phoney soldiers anyway, so there''s no sense paying any attention to what they say.

That is what happens to rogues, mavericks and others who insist on going their own way--they should pay for it by themselves.

If this happened, then maybe...just maybe...before we decided to visit war on someone else--we would stop and really think about the costs to us and the world. BAil outs are bad. Bush expects them, because supposedly he got them for every fvck up all of his life--he thinks that is the way the world runs. But bailing out a spoiled rich kid who is basically a loser--is a lot different than bailing out the most powerful country in the world.

We need to do our own dirty work--instead of training others--we should keep, maintain and train our own military, have stockpiles of excess equipment and rotations of men waiting--NOT expect the world to help us. It is doable and we need not worry about the equipment or men not being used.

War is a business. If a reason for war does not exist--I''m sure we will manufacture a reason, after all, we did that in Iraq. So we''ve had practice.

"In a speech Wednesday, Gates said the U.S. Army of the future will need to concentrate more on training foreign militaries, mastering other languages and customs, and honing its ability to fight smaller forces of insurgents. "

This works under the assumption that when the US starts a war, the rest of the world is required to fight it for them or to help them fight it.

We need to be reminded that when we wanted to start this war, most of the world was against the idea. Then Bush said that only those who helped could get some of the possible spoils, such as rebuilding contracts and oil contracts--then, some reluctantly signed on. This was perhaps illustrated to be mostly a joke as places like the Netherlands at one point, had less than 20 people in Iraq.
but the point is--Americans need to realize that war should not be a choice, it is a last resort, not a first, or a whim or even just a revenge motive. Too many people--whose only guilt is living in the invaded country--will suffer--to enter into war lightly.

If we want this point to be made, then the best thing to happen to our country would be if NO ONE from anywhere in the world helped us. This is a bed that we insisted on making, and we were warned of the potential for it to go all wrong. We should have to lie in it--shouldering the costs of the blood and treasure--by ourselves. see next post

THERE YOU GO!

NOW BUSH CAN MOVE THE 26,000 PLUS MARINES IN IRAQ TO AFGHANISTAN,(WHERE THEY SHOULD BE)AND DECLARE A MAJOR TROOP REDUCTION BEFORE CHRISTMAS, AS HE PROMISED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

OF COURSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT THE MOVE IS JUST A NUMBERS GAME THAT HE HAS BEEN PLAYING SINCE THE "SURGE" STARTED. YOU REMEMBER, 21,000 INCREASE THAT HAS TURNED INTO AROUND 40,000 PLUS. 168,000 ARMY STRONG NOW IN IRAQ.

STAY THE COURSE...........
