Too true, but since the republicans have long since embraced the most virulent racist segment of the population, and has let them enunciate the party''s direction, I cannot even begin to think about considering the possibility that I might give them my vote. - Reply to this comment

No they don''''t."
The Senate is presently made up of 49 Republicans and 49 Democrats with two Independents who caucus with Democrats. Lieberman will break caucus ranks on funding. At least four Democrats will do the same. To cut off primary funding will require some Republican votes. Any other stop the war vote requires Republican votes to get past a possible filibuster. A recent book claims that 11% of the popular vote can stop a bill in the Senate. - Reply to this comment
- What is wrong with using the Marines and the Secret Service to guard Embassies and personnel.
Secret Service
The Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency with headquarters in Washington, D.C. and more than 150 offices throughout the United States and abroad. The Secret Service originally was established in 1865, solely to suppress the counterfeiting of U.S. currency. Today, the agency is mandated by Congress to carry out dual missions: protection of the nation''s leaders and criminal investigations.

- "According to the USAID Web site, RTI has about $450 million in U.S. government contracts to work on local governance projects in Iraq. USAID is a semi-autonomous arm of the U.S. State Department that manages American aide programs. "
So USAID, a well-known CIA front, needs to hire Aussies now to kill women and little children. What, not enough Yanks who still want to do the wet work? This is what happens when "liberals" take over the public school system. Our children must be taught that the highest calling in America is to be a hit man for the security forces protecting Hunt Oil and Halliburton--er--our diplomats! - Reply to this comment

Our Constitution instills in Congress the power to fund and regulate war. This power was usurped by George Bush, with the help of a Republican Congress. The present Democratic Congress must have some Republican votes to reclaim our Constitution. If you do not want fourteen months of the status quo, contact your Congresspeople now. - Reply to this comment
- jerryomara the GOP like to hire mercenaries because they are not accountable and can kill at will. The old saying never trust a mercs still hold I think the easiest way the troops can deal with the problem is get rid of the mercs. Remember how Rush asked Cheney about water boarding the same I give the troops a wink to do the job.
