- Ya know, that''''s one way to go too. I don''''t think the Dem''''s majority is as strong as they think. They still have to rely on Rep''''s support, but they can''''t count on that. Die hard Reb''''s will go with the party. No matter how well the issue serves the people.

You''re right. It isn''t as strong as they think. But if they all voted against the funding of the war, it would have been 49 for and 51 against - no funding. But they caved in to the pressure of not getting re-elected. The result 92 - 4 in favor of funding. D*mn near unanimous. Friggin'' cowards. Now we have 3 more months of needless American deaths. - Reply to this comment
- Big GOP donor gets big GOP no bid contract and legal protection from the country he is shooting up!
The GOP has found a new way to divert tax dollars back in to the election funds, abet somewhat legally.
Clearly a barrel of bad apples that needs to be dumped. - Reply to this comment
- bicameral means two houses, as in house of reps and senate; not two party, j-dubya.

They don''''t seem to be powerless. They have the majority vote in Congress and could kill the funding if they wanted to. Their problem is they''''re all cowards. The republican spin machine will say that the Democrats are endangering our troops, which is a lie because they''''re already in danger. Cutting off funding will only stop combat patrols form going out and if they don''''t go out, they won''''t encounter any roadside bombs. But they''''re afraid that the Americans will believe the Republicans, and that could hurt their re-election chances. That''''s all they''''re concerned with.

- Anyone listen to Dana Perino''s spin today ??? She mentioned a republican who came to the White House as a bicameral republican & turned aruond & started slamming democrats in the same sentence.... Her concept of bicameral is non-existant

So, what was the promise by Pelosi, right after the elections. I seem to remember all these promises to her constituents about how she was going to get things done. Are you saying now, j-dubya, that she was an old windbag and her lies are ok. No wonder you vote democratic. You can''t remember to hold these people up to their promises. - Reply to this comment
- j-whitman...
It''s tough across the board, but I wish that they were able to do more or live up to their promised. But politicians say what they need to get elected, don''t they? - Reply to this comment
- I totally agree with you! The democrats just seem to be powerless compared to their tough talk when they got the job.

- IOWEIGN - so I see Social security as a good thing. It was an EXCELLENT Idea. FDR was one of the very best Presidents we''ve ever had.
But, then you get Johnson deciding to move the earmarked funds into the General funds - probably a legacy that is worse than his trying to micro-manage bombing targets in Vietnam. And Carter expand SSI to immigrants that never paid a dime into SS. So, this is just typical mismanagement combined with tax and spend economics; the only way Democrats know how to govern.
Your last statment is obviously devisive along party lines, so why don''t you answer the question of what do you think of Hillary''s $5000 per baby, since you are spoiling for a fight ? - Reply to this comment
- dscott407,,,, It''s a tougher job getting things done in Congress than people realize...... They''ve done well just to get oversight & a small change of course in the Iraq War of Roses.
