From the London Times

But the root of the strain is that Britain is incrementally taking its forces out of Iraq while the US is stuck. In the past week the leading contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination have all offered versions of a plan for a large US military presence to stay. That %u2013 and the likely decision of Democrats in Congress next month not to cut off funding for the war %u2013 reflects their recognition that the US cannot afford to leave because of the turmoil that would follow.

It''s not getting any better and the "poodles" keep hedging their bets.

What''s in their wallet? Or whose in their wallet?

Oh yes it is a factor, a big one. We are teetoring on the edge of a recession right now. The fed board meets next week. I bet they will lower interest rates, which may or may not stop it.

There is more than a year before elections, plenty of time for financial crisis. Oil hit $80 a gal today. What do you think people are going to say when gas goes back up over $3.00 a gal.

Do you think they are going to vote their pocket book? I do.

Feelfree,

When the president has a 35% overall approval rating and less than that on his handling of Iraq, they are not going to rush to support his war declarations a second time.

The problem with Bush is that he pays no attention to anything beyond his fixed, never changing ideas.

He will solemnly get up in front of American and spew out the lies we have all heard before, offer not a shred of proof to back up anything he says and then announce he has authorized attacking Iran. We won''t know about it until it happenes.

Then all hell will break loose.

Ever talk to people in the 90s numbnut? They say that the temperature back then was pretty hot too. Only they didn''''t call it global warming then. And do I believe Gore. No, I don''''t believe Gore. Just like I don''''t believe he won the election either. Give me a break. I''''m not saying we shouldn''''t respect the planet. This is something we''''ve talked about long before you were born. But please this guy''''s making millions and he use of wattage is 10,000 times greater than the average citizen uses in his lifetime.

Gore''s father was an environmentalist and he taught his son all he knew about it and Gore while Vice Pres mentioned the environment over and over his interest has been there in this planet since a little boy. This environment has suffered a lot in the last 8 years because Pres. Bush has put people in that favor corp instead of the environment.

clestes,

Re: "The American people ARE NOT PREPARED TO BEAR THE COST OF ANOTHER WAR."

Agreed, but we have yet to pay for the current one. If the bill were due today, I think that the unelected Bush-puppet and the rest of the cabal would find themselves hanging from a lamp-post.

As long as they can keep hiding/deferring the costs, I don''t see this as much of a factor.

omega39,

Re: "It worked in the Weimar Republic, all we need is a period of hyper inflation."

Indeed.

###

clestes,

Re: "The point of my mentioning the survey is that Americans are paying attention to what is happening and they don''t like it."

I am sure that you are correct, I am just not very confident that the American public is immune to being fooled/scared into changing our collective minds.

It was one of your Nazi, fascist Generals who said "if you repeat a lie long enough someone will believe it". You people are just so up on Nazi rhetoric. The only problem is you "confusion" it all the time.

More confusion from the mouths of a sufferer of ADD. Name one place where I have ever infered the term Nazis or quoted any of their garbage.

Feelfree,

The American people ARE NOT PREPARED TO BEAR THE COST OF ANOTHER WAR.

I don''t know how to make it anymore plain. When 62% of the population say we are on the wrong track, 65% way the Iraq war is NOT WORTH THE COST, by a margin of 2:1 want the budget balanced the signes are clear for anyone looking.

The American people are moving away from the idea of pre-emptive war and meddling in other countries. That is what the rep candidates are missing.

This little Iranian S H I T says we''re ready to provide the security, I''ll bet he is ! He is already causing 80% of the deaths in Iraq and has his plans drawn up for the division of Iraq, whereupon he gets the Oil.

Now, I DO want to see the Bush and Cheney gang crying in their beer and I don''t want another cent spent on supporting Israel BUT this nasty evil little piece of C R A P needs taking apart, he is providing the fodder for the infantile Bush ambitions of Greatness at a cost to all of us.

FACT ! Daddy pulled out of Desert Storm very quickly when Israel opened their nuclear solo''s threatening Baghdad following the Scud rocket attacks. The answer is simple, get out of Iraq now and leave Israel to deal with IRAN, it will not happen whilst we are there. The sooner we depart the sooner it will get sorted out for once and for all.

Our task is hard- our task is unprecedented%u2014and the time is short. We must strain every existing armament-producing facility to the utmost. We must convert every available plant and tool to war production. That goes all the way from the greatest plants to the smallest%u2014from the huge automobile industry to the village machine shop.

Production for war is based on men and women%u2014the human hands and brains which collectively we call Labor. Our workers stand ready to work long hours; to turn out more in a day''s work; to keep the wheels turning and the fires burning twenty-four hours a day, and seven days a week. They realize well that on the speed and efficiency of their work depend the lives of their sons and their brothers on the fighting fronts.-FDR

So tell me Lars, do those Chinese workers stand ready to sacrifice on our behalf, are their sons and brothers dying in Iraq, LOL!!
