Top U.S. Commander And Ambassador Warn Congress Against Major Shift Away From Current Strategy
- Obama makes me sick.
He is a little boy in a world of grown ups. His brightest line was "Oh, I can change".
Of course, politicians always change after elections. You always know they lie because thier lips move. - Reply to this comment

We know who''s trying to SAVE FACE in Iraq:
George W. Bush
That is the only reason he''s keeping the war going (in my opinion).
He''d lose face a lot more if troops are withdrawn, than any Democrat would if we achieved "victory in Iraq," whatever that is. - Reply to this comment

- On Monday evening Channel 4 TV in the UK featured "Fahrenheit 9/11" I think we should All take a little revision and go sit through this film again.
It was made in 2004 ! and even today is without a shadow of doubt Right on the Button, Moore was right then and he is even more vindicated today.
If America survives the past 7 years of infamy and returns to normality in the near future it will be a miracle. God only knows how many of our young soldiers, maimed and mentally damaged we will have to support over their remaining years but the loss of so many we will find hard to recover from. It has been brought about by the indoctrination of fear simply to add considerable wealth to the Elite, the crooks we employ to care for us and run our country. We should get down on our knees and pray that we are never again so Stupid and Misguided. The voters in Florida were cheated and the Senators who failed to stand up and be counted are responsible for the ensuing Genocide. Lest We Forget! - Reply to this comment

Let Barack Obama answer that one.
"October 2, 2002
Now let me be clear - I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man... But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history. I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars. I''m opposed to dumb wars."

Do we really need more hate? Do we really need more excuses and blame? Anyone who, at this point, would start up with the "I hate them because they have been right" trash doesn''t deserve to be in the debate. I think most Normal American''s would settle for just getting our troops out of this situation without more harm at this point. Even thinking that the Government of Iraq is going to suddenly become what this poster has invisioned is nothing but a pipe dream at best. Winning? As a Combat Vet I can tell you that isn''t in the cards... We do not, at the present, have anywhere close to the kind of Statesman necessary to pull that off. You can not Force people, at the point of a gun, to do what you want and have a Democracy.... can''t be done. - Reply to this comment

Man, whatever Meds you are taking... STOP! After YEARS of losing and failure YOU post something like this... after watching the REAL enemy deliever yet another tape while we are bogged down in a quagmire where the PEOPLE say by a Majority that it''s OKAY to kill our troops, you see victory. Yep! You need to stay as far away from the meds as possible... and for god''s sake take off that stupid hood and sheet, this is 2007. Sieg Heil Bush! - Reply to this comment

You have it the wrong way around, pal. Bush could have avoided the invasion by letting Hans Blix finish his inspections and tell us all that Hussein had no WMD and saved us all this waste. - Reply to this comment

Based on the fact that after 4.5 years of occupation, our officials still have to sneak into Iraq unannounced like terrorists, no doubt..... - Reply to this comment

Posted by S_Temper,
It is not a fact, it is only speculation, based on the assumption that Bush wasn''t looking for any reason he could find to invade, an assumption that public documents dating back to Bush 41 show to be an incorrect assumption.
Based on the documents, a speculation can also be made that even had Saddam allowed the inspectors into his homes(!), Bush would not have accepted the results, as he did not accept Hans Blix''s statement that there were no weapons found in Iraq after two years of spot inspections. - Reply to this comment

What? Were you in another country when this was going on? Bush RAN the Inspectors OUT. He told us he had the "Smoking Gun" and could not wait. MCVet is right, continuing to ignore the incompetence of Bush isn''t helping us at all. - Reply to this comment
- S_Temper,
Where were you at? Hussein WAS allowing the international inspectors to do their job when Bush decided he couldn''t wait for them to finish.
Hussein initially snubbed the international community under pressure; it was BUsh who snubbed the international community and ended the work of the inspectors by launching the war. If he had allowed the inspections to be completed they would''ve discovered that there was no WMD and 4,000+ Americans and inumerable Iraqis would still be alive. - Reply to this comment

Yep and Bush could have EASLY have avoided this ENTIRE situation by just doing what EVERY leader in this nation has always done. IF, as he claims, he had overwhelming evidence that there were WMD''s, where''s the harm in allowing our friends and Allies to see the inspector''s finish? You say Hussein could have avoided the invasion. That is a LIE and you know it... Get a tape of the god awlful dictator of America and LISTEN to it. He was bound and determined to go to war and NOTHING was going to stop him. To continue to defend the Arrogance and Incompetence of George Bush after all you know is not intelligent... not at all. Sieg Heil Bush. - Reply to this comment

I vote "we". Bush and his boyz should be memories feeding worms. Even after we dump him and his party, he will still be rich enough to live a king''s lifestyle, while laughing how the suckers protected him, even as he was openly and with contempt robbing them blind - Reply to this comment
- NUMBERS GAME:
BRINGING 2,000 TROOPS HOME NEXT MONTH IS NOTHING MORE THAN NORMAL TROOP ROTATION.
JUST LAST WEEK THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SAID THAT THE TROOP INCREASE TO APPROX. 168,000 WAS DUE TO TROOP ROTATION.
SO THE TROOPS SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEAVING IRAQ ANYWAY.
NUMBERS GAME.
