According to the latest NIE report, the Iraqi govn is not making progres towards self govn. Maliki is not the man to unite them and the Iraqi army connot survive without US help.

Gee, is that what these brothers died for?? For a govn that is so rift with sectarian rivilries, that after 4-1/2 years of constant US presence and help and weapons THEY ARE STILL HELPLESS. That mission, the latest in an everchanging list of missions for US troops, IS NOW AND HAS BEEN FAILING!!!!!

The fact it is a failure IS NOT OUR FAULT! We cannot force unity in the parliment

Guess what! They are going to continue to be a failure FOREVER. They are going to be an albatross around our necks until we cut them off.

There is no further purpose in US troops being in Iraq. Not one more troop death!!!!!

war should only be a last resort.
too bad it wan''t this time.
we could have continued to influence the region without a full scale invasion.
bush and cheney have alterior motives.
i could defend this country against "terror" better than this administration.
all of the obvious things you would do are thrown off the table and all the bone-headed things are funded with billions.
i would rather have seen immigration restrictions and border tightening rather that losing our liberties the way we have.
and soon the freedom of information act will be gone- they wont even allow us to request documents from them anymore.
we have lost, the american people that is.
we wont be able to regain what bush has taken from us until a revolution occurs.

MCVet. Correct, this is exactly the place to debate this issue. If the hatred contained herein toward the administration results in this war being shortened by just one week to alleviate the suffering of yet more families, then it is the right place. Indeed the matter is so serious there is not a Wrong place, every opportunity to debate this debacle should be taken anywhere and everywhere.

The cold hard truth is that he does not care. He has told people that he believes this is a mission from god. That god literally told him to do this. He is a mad man. Then there is Cheney who is pushing for more and more and more war because he and his friends in the war contracting business are making huge profits off from the arms and other sales to the US government at our expense. He honestly thinks this war has been a huge success and that we need more, because all he sees is dollar signs. They do NOT care about the lives of our troops being wasted, dying in vain, for Bush''s ego and Cheney''s rich friends. To them dead soldiers are just a business expense to be written off in the books.

This man was killed in a War that DID NOT have to be... a War that the AMERICAN PEOPLE do not want... a War against a Country that did NOTHING to us nor had anything to do with any attack against us. vellwanger at 1:36. Please tell your son a hearty "thank you for being brave" from all of us who have lost (or found) the sight that Iraq was/is a huge mistake. These boards offer a cross-section of America, a few foreigners also, but Dem or Repub, liberal or conservative, agree or disagree with the war, we all stand with our military. Convince him his heart is with his country, and whatever he believes out of his experiences he can act upon it. This is one of the things that make our country great.

Imagine saying exiting Vietnam was a mistake while bush hid from that war?
It means that the warmongers in the white house will fight to the extent of Americans who are dumb enough to allow such hypocrites to lead them.

fter two tours in Iraq, my son called and said Mom, I''m coming home. I know his spirit was broken. It hurt me to know that a young man who loved serving his country has had enough. All my son knew was the military. Stories were kept from me but not from his dad and brother (who wanted to serve). My companion during his tour was Zoloft. I went to bed at night watching the news and I would wake up watching the news. The caualities do not stop at the war zone, there are many casualties at home for each and every loss we encounter in this war. I love my country and I love my sons, I am one of the lucky ones that''s son came home mentally and physically whole. God Bless all the family members of our lost heroes. God Bless all our military personnel that serve in a battle zone in which they are targets every minute of the day. We need to get out of there. Let them fight their wars amongst themselves. We will be there afterwards to help rebuild their land and profit from it too. WE want our children safe! Enough already. Mr. President soon your daughter will be married, live in a cozy untouched world. We deserve the same from our children. BRING THEM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!

The Army, concluding that permanent peace was impossible whilst Charles lived, decided that the King must be put on trial and executed. In December, Parliament was purged, leaving a small rump totally dependent on the Army, and the Rump Parliament established a High Court of Justice in the first week of January 1649.

The King was sentenced to death on 27 January. Three days later, Charles was beheaded on a scaffold outside the Banqueting House in Whitehall, London

I''m sure your gratitude means a lot when people are burying their 2nd child to die in THE war that was based on lies, or when another family buries their only child. In fact, I''m sure your sorries and thank yous totally take away the pain of a needless war that not only started based on lies but is kept going by people like you and is based on lies.

Our troops have been complaining for years now that they haven''t been receiving the right equipment, enough supplies and parts to maintain and repair equipment that is breaking down at an incredibly fast rate.

When you can''t property maintain and repair flying machines they fall out of the sky.

Unfortunately the Hubbard family is now horribly aware of that fact.

cbscrash07 %u2013 was saddam a very bad man? Yes. That doesn%u2019t mean Bush lying and conniving to invade Iraq makes him the better man.

And yes %u2013 Bush, Sr. Cheney and Rumsfeld all worked to arm Saddam with chemical WMDs that he used against the Kurds - and also against Iran which even to the dimmest of minds might give a hint why they hate us so much.

BUT any and all scientists will tell you that those chemical weapons had a shelf life that was well expired.

WMD inspectors found no sign of WMDs, no sign of WMD labs, no evidence of WMD materials stored or purchased. Were they lying? Apparently not - no WMDs were ever found and no they weren''t snuck out at night on backs of camels for worse "rainy day" than US/UK invasion either.


Now you can keep trying to defend the indefensible. But fact is that Bush screwed up and screwed us over %u2013 they went in there on lies and thought (probably correctly) all would be forgiven if things had gone quickly and smoothly. It didn%u2019t, it won%u2019t and there%u2019s no forgiveness for Bush.
