- That ought to reduce the violence considerably...No?

Oh just let them listen to the guy singing "God Bless America" at FULL VOLUME and they will surrender. Back him up with a battalion of PMS women and the war will be over in a week. Sorry Stezzer if this is not up to my usual. - Reply to this comment
- I can see three signs posted in the desert now. The first reads "STEP RIGHT UP FOLKS, 72 VIRGINS ARE WAITING FOR YOU AT THE NEXT STOP. 5 miles later they see another sign, "LOOK OUT THE DOOR, IF YOU DO NOT SEE YOUR VIRGINS IT MEANS YOU DIDN''T SET YOUR BOMB OFF. PLEASE DO SO NOW.". A third sign reads, "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU ARE STILL ALIVE. NO VIRGINS FOR YOU!!!"

- Anyone who survives listening to that DESERVES 72 virgins and a new 72 every year for eternity!

That was actually the "tame" version of it, a coworker who I almost threw my pc at played the untame unedited version of this guy singing God Bless America non stop for about ten minutes. I will not allow anyone to suffer through it, the one is bad enough. - Reply to this comment
- Hello Tool
I see you did not heed my warning and "listened" anyway. I am in violation of the Geneva Convention on that for cruel and usual punishment but I warned did I not? ; )
Now think of how quickly a war would end if participants were forced to listen to it non stop!

- Anyone who deliberately targets and kills children is evil. I don''''t think it''''ll be 72 virgins waiting for them when they eventually meet their maker.

Good luck in finding 72 virgins for every fruitcake that blows himself up along with all of the innocent people around. - Reply to this comment
- who is bush''s base?...those redneck, reborn, christian snakes.
where is bush''s base?... deep down in that dark, evil south.
why is bush''s base?...die hard rebel confederates that think bush is their last chance for a comeback.
what is bush''s base? republican, christian, bible thumping, war making, flag waving, poor, superstitious and uneducated.
well, there you have it, folks!

Now maybe you understand how some others might feel about a constant barrage of negativity about the USA. many posters refuse to designate the parties responsible as the target and simply let fly at anyone in the area. Most times they are preaching to the choir but still try to make something personal out of it. I will try to cease making religious insinuations out of politeness. (what about the other one, you haven''t denied it yet). (grin) - Reply to this comment

- secundus2,
The legitimate Iraqi resistance groups seem to want the brutal and illegal invasion forces out of their county, most of all.
The ones that are bombing civilians appear to be "al-CIA''da" forces who are desperate to provide a reason for our forces to remain, where there is none, and to divide the people of Iraq. - Reply to this comment
- Hussein Saadon, quoted in the article, has it right. The mighty insurgents excel mainly at killing Iraqi civilians, and they don''t even confront such civilians openly. They don''t wear uniforms and their favorite weapaons and tactics are to explode cars or tanker trucks in markets or outside mud-brick houses in country villages. Like the Jordanian assassin Zarqawi they mainly excel at such acts as cutting the throats of unarmed captives who have their hands bound behind them.

Agreed, but you seem to keep implying that I am a Muslim. I am not. Please put this to rest. It is tiresome. - Reply to this comment
- There are radical Muslims and al Qaeda all over the world. THe people coming across the border from Iran may be a group that has no connection at all with the Iranian government. As far as arms go, I think the ineffiency of the handling of the weapons that arrived in Iraq from the US is where most of the weapons have come from. There may be groups in other countries suppling weapons to but this country did a pretty good job of it. 200,000 weapons missing that they know about means there is probably double that not counted or reported. Look to where some of the real faults lay, in the hiring of private firms to handle such things as security, transport of supplies including weapons and mercinaries. That''s were it is and it all goes back to the connection in Washingtion, Bush and buds.

- Even if these people think they have an argument, why target women and children in such a poor area? How does that further their "cause"?
It makes them look like bloodthirsty maniacs, which is exactly what members of al Qaeda are.

I can ''dig'' it. Look at my posts and if you use a discerning eye you should see that we have many things in common just differing approaches.
I try to say the truth without demeaning that of which I am speaking, (unless I am trying for a viewpoint clarification). I try not to ''bash'' without something constructive coming from it. No! we will disagree on many things but proper blame is not one of them (usually). Mutilation is never justified these days for either se x, yours or mine (grin) - Reply to this comment

- Re: "In this and several other cases, the tactics appear to obliterate with an airstrike rather than engage with troops."
A must agree with you here.
In the "Zarqawi" case, the seemingly low risk of "capturing" him as compared to the potential gain (if the official "Zarqawi" claims are to be believed) seem to render the choice of bombing the site to bits as an inexplicably poor approach.

While the employment of airpower has led to many effective prosecutions, it certainly has led to several disasters as well. In most cases where innocents have been prosecuted by US forces by mistake, it has been through the use of this tactic.
Wedding parties have been bombed and collateral damge has been unacceptably high in several cases where ground troops would not have used lethality. - Reply to this comment
