Six Soldiers Wounded As Bomb Hits Bridge Checkpoint; Former Sunni Foes Asked For Help
- "U.S. commanders have been turning to some Sunni groups in Iraq - formerly considered enemies - to join the fight against al Qaeda, according to a report in the New York Times. The report says some of the groups are suspected of past attacks on U.S. troops, and the military acknowledges the inherent risks of the plan. Some weaponry has been provided to the groups, usually via the Iraqi military."
"There are tribal sheiks out there who say 'Hey, just allow me to be the local security force. I don't care what you call me. ... You can call me whatever you want. Just give me the right training and equipment and I'll secure my area.' And that's the direction we're moving out there," the Third Infantry Division commander said."
"They say: 'We hate you because you are an occupier, but we hate al Qaeda worse and we hate the Persians (Iranians) even worse".
So now we're providing weapons and training to the people that attack us, based on the fact that they hate us, but they hate our enemies worse? Even the war mongering neo-cons should be shaking their heads at this. WOW!! Just when you think that there's no way at all, that it could possibly get any worse than it already is, we get this story. - Reply to this comment
- pwrslm fighting for America is just when you are doing it for a just cause. Howerver, when you are killing for the sake of big business and big religion then it is just another type of Facism.

- There is nothing going on in Iran that 5000 cruise missles would not cure.
See if they can swat them out of the air, eh? What do you think those towels on thier heads are for, to keep flies out of thier hair?
Wake up people, Iran has been itching for conflict with the USA for decades. We should give it to them!! - Reply to this comment
- Instead of arguing... everyone hold hands and sing:
It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...
It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood,
A neighborly day for a beauty.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...
I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you.
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.
So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please won't you be my neighbor?
... come on! I can't hear you! - Reply to this comment

Actually halfwit, Im not a ball less wonder like you, I was born in the USA, and I fought for the USA as an Airborne Ranger, so get your stinking head out of your arse and figure out that nothing you have said has any value beyond your own mind.
This country was not built on cowardice and compromise. We either stand up for Justice, or we die. There is no other way to keep our freedom.- Reply to this comment

- Well, we have world wide comunications. TV, radio, internet, cell phones... Let's get the head of the UN on them all for a week to arrange a day when everyone in the world can go out in the streets, hold hands, and sing a Mister Rogers song.

- We should conduct air strikes against Iran for the aid and training they give Iraq and AQ insurgents, and for the equipment and supplies they send there.
While were are doing that, we should conduct additional operations with our biggest bunker busters on some of the hidden nuclear facilities in thier country.

- And now we are dealing with those same insurgents/terrorists that this administration said we would never deal with - insurgents/terrorists that have killed Americans.
I wonder whose plan that was? - Reply to this comment
- GW Bush's pathetic administration has been telling us for the past few years that Iraqi soldiers are able to take over control of much of our duties.
Clearly this is just one more lie that this corrupt and pathetic administration has been telling the American public.
If Iraqi troops are able to take control, then why are we still guarding bridges?
Why aren't Iraqi troops doing the very basics like guarding bridges instead of leaving our troops exposed? - Reply to this comment
