Then how did Iraq become the haven it is now? Why are the Sunni and Shi'a butchering each other? Why do the Kurds want a separate state? How is it that Al-Qaeda with its extremist views can operate in such a 'secular' society?

- lars008 I am reading the same sort of reports from soldiers, and whilst they hate being there and will be effected for the rest of their lives, they all say that we must stay there, mainly for our protection...

I have read that there was WMD and they were smuggled off to Iran, but our own media seems to want us to be in danger, why??? Why is it that in all wars our media does its best to demoralise our own??. Why do they report falsely???, Doesnt the media realise that once the enemy wins they will not have the freedom to report what they want, or are they being compromised with money. I feel reporters who falsely demoralise our forces should be charged with treason. In past wars we dont see the enemies media demoralising their people, in fact they do the opposite and it has worked, it gave them power to continue..

-Seriously speaking slavery was the current money at those times: 1500 YEARS AGO! Whoever won the skirmish would others under slavery. What do you want them to do with the conquered people? who were left with no protection (Digital Satellite t.v.s in an air-conditioned family room were not available at that time, Neither Nintendo nor GameBoy).
Slavery was a good way of survival, because they (best was not) could be fed and protected by the same men and fighters then the ones who were protecting the tribe. Tents, camels, dogs... and individuals, everything was critical for survival in the desert. - Reply to this comment

- lars008 you are right, and America, Britain, and Australia have already had the invitation first, then the warning and if we dont submit then the slaughter...
But they often didn't even give choices, they just went on raids when it suited them.. killing all they came across because as they said, killing the infidel was a pleasure to them seeing the blood flow.
lars008, it is a shame that people dont read their history, especially as history keeps repeating itself, and maybe this is why... because people go straight back to sleep again after a war, they dont seem to realise that because of their stupidity their grandchildren will suffer the consequences..
We hear that the crusaders were terrible people and yes as sometimes happens in war, they did some terrible things, but if the Muslims had not marched across country after country slaughtering all who would not submit, the crusaders would never have come into existence. Just as we had armies to protect us against the Japanese and Hitler etc, the people formed a band or army to try and stop the slaughter of their loved ones going any further. For those who are against the crusaders trying to protect themselves, should we not have raised up an army to stop Hitler and the Japanese taking our countries also. Well according the critics of the crusaders that seems to be the thinking...

Good deal, about time.
It's a simple fact that we've been their enemy too long, they're too paranoid about our intentions. No matter what we do, it'll be slanted negatively - we'd do the same if they were occupying us. But set a muslim force there, and they'll be more comfortable, and take from them what they'd never take from us.
Just think about it - we're occupied, soldiers standing on your block, running road checkpoints. How quick will you be to believe a nasty rumor about them if they are from Afghanistan? How quick will you be to believe the exact same rumor if they are from England?

Anytime he became aware of ant al-Qaeda type terrorists in areas he controlled he had them shot on sight. He hated bin Laden and his people as much as bin Laden hated him and the secularist Iraqis, but it it's infinite stupidity Bush not only removed the biggest counter balance to Iran in the area, he also removed the biggest counter balance to al-Qeada. the Iraqi people, no matter what their religious leanings, are still far far far to secularist to allow al-Qaeda to operate anywhere in their country after America pulls out.
