Ok, sorry for misunderstanding you.

However, he did NOT join the National Guard to go to Viet Nam. In those far off days, the National Guard was deployed where it belongs - in the US. Bush is the first president to deploy the Guard overseas, and as a result there have been people untrained for their jobs in Iraq and fewer people at home to protect the US and help in the event of disasters.

For instance, the Louisiana National Guard's amphibious vehicles were deployed to Iraq, so were not available to help when NO flooded.

Can anyone explain to me why they need amphibious vehicles in a desert war?

I'm not sure that's true, although I'm not a big fan of Hillary at all; the problem with Bush's policies is that he has cut tax revenues by reducing taxes on the highest earners, while increasing spending. It's not sound fiscal policy, and has resulted in a huge deficit and national debt increase and a large decline of the value of the dollar. Yes, it has generated a stock boom due to more money available for the wealthy to invest and less taxation on corporations, but that actually contributes only to the long-term good of a small percentage of the population.

As for the border issue - you are 100% right that the borders need to be tightened, and that the illegal immigration issue is way out of control. I am sick of hearing "no person is illegal". It's rubbish. If you are here illegally, you have no rights under US law except for those of any other criminal.

It infuriates me to see pictures in the paper identifying people at rallies and so on as being here illegally. If the authorities know who and where these people are, they should be arresting and deporting them.

Bush on the other hand is for a guest worker program, always has been. During WWII we had such a policy. We also had better tracking. These people would come here, work and go back to Mexico. We have got to close the borders. Here's the rest of Billary, the two-headed Clintoid. Hillary is a strong advocate for: universal health care, abortion (pro-death) rights, redistribution of wealth, Iraq withdrawl, the estate tax, SS staying as is, diplomacy in the form of the UN making decisions for us, such as treating everything even terrorism as a police action.

This is slightly mis-representative of the real situation, Infidel_US. Although the new French premiere is largely pro-American, he has made it clear that he is squarely against the Iraq war and that France will not support it.

His key line is that "America must learn that one of the things friends can do is disagree and remain friends".

I'd say the same thing needs to be learned by many Americans about each other. What we need is cooperation, not in-fighting.

I implore you - if you really are as patriotic as you say, stop attacking your fellow citizens, calm down a bit on the "liberals are traitors" nonsense (and it really is nonsense - 99.9% of people on both left and right want what is best for the country) and maybe get off the keyboard and see whether you can't do something constructive.

Volunteer for your favorite charity. Talk to some real live people of different viewpoints and learn that they actually aren't lunatic terrorist supporters who want to see the US turned into a socialist state. Live life, and revise your viewpoints based on facts - don't base your worldview on your prejudices, because that is essentially delusional.
