Lars -- Do you read Conservative DRUDGE REPORT today ?????
11 More republicans told Bush to his face of thier direct opposition to him on Iraq & his management of the War.

Republican congressmen went on to say, "The word about the war and its progress cannot come from the White House or even you, Mr. President. There's no longer any credibility. It has to come from General Petraeus.

IT IS TIME TO DEFEAT FASCIST NAZI ISLAM ONCE AND FOR ALL%u2026

In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, then U.S. ambassador to France, and John Adams, then American Ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Dey%u2019s ambassador to Britain, in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress%u2019 vote of funding. To Congress, these two future presidents later reported the reasons for the Muslims%u2019 hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

%u2026that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.

Sound familiar?

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison defeated the fascist nazi muslims 200 years ago
And again 100 years ago with Theodore Roosevelt
Tunisia in 1881 by France and Libya in 1911 by Italy. By then most of the Islamic world was under Christian domination. With the Ottoman Empire defeated in WW1, secularist Turkish rebels in 1923 overthrew the last Islamic Caliphate,

"Iraq still a dangerous place." WOW, I wonder why, could it be THERE'S A FREAKING WAR GOING ON THERE?

Cheney has a fantastic grasp of the utterly obvious.

"Cheney acknowledged the country still has serious security problems. Iraqi leaders "believe we are making progress, but we've got a long way to go," he said".

Did not Cheney say essentially the same thing after year 1? Year 2? Year 3? Year 4?. Senator Reid is right, Cheney has lost all credibility on Iraq. He has been wrong so many times it is unbelievable.

I was more than a little skeptical when I bought "an inconvenient truth with Al Gore" Not on the issue of global warming itself--but on the rate of impact--but I still bought and watched it today. Whether you are for or against the idea--I think anyone with a conscience who thinks they care about our existence--should watch this program. He never says it--but the biggest obstacle to change is GREED. People are scrambling for what they can get now--for themselves and are willing to mortgage other people and even their own kid's future for it. The thing is--it may very well be within the next 20 years--that we do not have a future as we know it and like many are lamenting about being stupid enough to elect Bush twice...many more will lament our failure as a nation to address issues and change course. it won't matter what the stock market in NY says--if the exchange is gone. The possibility not only for disaster but for it occurring within the next 10 years or so is very real. Gore never says this or backs it up with data. I am saying it. I base this on what is called the tipping point. It is that moment when one is at the apex of the hill--and everything after that is very fast and very downhill--with little available to stop it. We are approaching a crest, and though theoretically time still favors us--realistically, it does not. Should we crest, this war, terrorism, stock market, welfare, racism, etc will mean nothing--

"Maj. Gen. John Batiste part of the planning stages before going into Iraq, now, tells the world how the plan was flawed...and who's fault is that again?" - badaxmofo

Where does the buck stop again ?

With Batiste in Iraq, with Nagin after Katrina...

The buck stops as far away from your hero Bush as you can shovel it, right ?

The man who signed off on the war, is the one who bears ultimate responsibility.

Truman knew that. So did Reagan.

What the h*ell do you think Bush is doing ?

Sacrificing American troops for no better reason than to save face.

Save face for himself and his adninistration.

Do you regret you have but one life to give to help Bush save face ?

Is there anyone in their right mind who DIDN'T think this fat bas***** wouldn't take a day or two for photo ops in Iraq while he was going to be over there? He already has to go to the region to pick up his and Bushies bribe and kickback checks fro the oil producing nations in the area anyway, plus select his home over there for when he goes back to Haliburton (and collects the fat kickback checks he has waiting over there from that company too), so he might just as well pick up a few more photo for his collection. That way if his conscience ever bothers him for all of the American soldiers blood that is soaking on all of the money he's stolen then he can distract himself by patting himself on the back (or stroking) while looking at himself in an armoured jacket.

hungry1968,

"England created Iraq - if it falls on anyone it should fall on them."

They also had a hand in creating Israil; the main problem in the Midle East, but when they want someone to broker a peace deal, they always look to the USA. I am not a Clinton fan, but he worked his butt off trying to bring peace to the Middle East, he offered Arafat the best deal he was probably ever going to get and he said "no, it's not enough," Bush tried to stay out of it and let them work it out by themselves, but the international community said, "Where is the USA, they need to be here; and on it goes.

Either we fix it, or get the heck out of it altogether,.....I'm so tired of it all.

A quote from John Batiste from the Associated Press:
"...we went to war with a flawed plan that didn't account for the hard work to build the peace after we took down the regime. We also served under a secretary of defense who didn't understand leadership, who was abusive, who was arrogant, and who didn't build a strong team."

Sounds like an intelligent individual to me. He definitely sees what the rest of us have seen. (At least those of us without the Republican parties rose colored glasses.)

"The Middle East has been a festering boil ever since I was a kid, it needed to be lanced to start the healing. Maybe this thing needs to be blown into a full scale World War; then everyone will have to choose a side and we can get this finished one way or the other. After 60 years of killing, it time for this to end."
Posted by AJMarine1 at 06:22 PM : May 09, 2007

This has been festering a lot longer than any of us have been alive. Not 60 years, more like 1000. Whether or not it needed to be lanced, it IS NOT the responsibility of the American military, and none of our children / brothers and sisters should be paying for it. England created Iraq - if it falls on anyone it should have been them. Only a dangerous delusional person would think he could just walk right in and have people throwing flowers at them in celebration.

The idea that the war in Iraq was an appropriate response to 9/11 and the threat from Al Queda demonstrates a misunderstand of the region. And its the same kind of misunderstanding that helped Bush go there in the first place.

The correct response was for the US to set up shop in Afganistan and fix that country. Place some serious bases there, and go after the terrorists in on the Pakistan border areas.

Maintaining that focus would have set the stage for ANY future military action in the Middle East if needed.

GW and crew used ideology to drive this, not facts.

Al Queda in Iraq is a TOKEN force, used to stir trouble using a MINIMUM of Al Queda respoures, while we waste ours. Their main force is distributed elsewhere, planning attacks now.

While we squander troops and billions.
