Military Says Barricade Is Necessary To Protect Sunnis Surrounded By Shiites
- Colonial rule in India, the Americas. Africa and other lands could never have happened if the stories of what Europeans did and how they did it would have preceeded them. Because the methods have not changed: invade, have locals in the population collaborate--use the local people to help subjugate and rule the others then exploit all natural resources for the invaders. In this case it is oil. As for hatred--I think it is healthy to teach what a group did to another--and the hatred? THAT usually is the natural reaction of the listener when they learn what one group did to the other. If this is horrible, it is no worse than what the original country did to them--maybe countries should tread carefully and consider their actions--I think no generation should ever forget what people are capable of--or of what people from one place feel is their right to do to another. To just let it go--would give many Americans leave to do it all again to another generation. Personally, I think God needs to take America to the woodshed for a serious buttwhupping--because we do a lot of stuff to others and think it is okay because it is them--not us. I think in Revelations 18 we are the country that is cried about --because we made the world's merchants rich--but this country was destroyed in one hour for what she visited on others in war--and thought no war would come to her own shores. For everything there must be a balance, America has not been balanced yet.

This is not your dad's world anymore, nor is it yours and mine. It is not the hate that is taught, it is the whys of things. Why a father is no longer there. Why there is no food, or electricity or why there is garbage everywhere. why a sister is dead or a mom. Why monuments and churches that stood for thousands of years are gone--who did it and why--each group has been unleashed to hurt each other. The fact is, America should NOT get a free pass. We have allowed vengeance to make us persecute and oppress people who have done nothing to us--if they ever come out of it--it is incumbent on them to remember what we did, how we did it and what we are capable of. Those who do not remember a history are destined to repeat it and when a country has taken it upon itself to destroy another's way of life, what they did must be taught, to be guarded against and to be remembered. You make some good points. I hope the U.S. elects a good President, the U.S. and the world needs a break! As far as continued anger for eternity, the world use to protect its children and not expose children to hate and anger. The children of the world offer the best hope for the future, the best hope for peace and the best chance for the world to recover from past wrongs. New generation of children used to be the saving grace. But now children are being educated at a young age to hate and seek revenge and this is very dangerous simply because it means the cycle of hate, war and revenge will continue. I don't have an answer that I think will solve that except maybe all world powers should agree not to infect their youth with the virus of hate, revenge or war, the chances of that happening without some miracle seems remote. Its possible music, sports or something else will cause the youth march to their own drummer and not the hateful drummer of their country or families which is also possible. - Reply to this comment

Heads of State always used diplomatic language in the old days and it was rare to see otherwise. Now you have Chavez calling Pres. Bush a devil and Ahmadinejad talking about wiping Israel off the map or pushing Zion into the Sea (Whatever!), Saddam paying $25000.00 for terrorist to blow themselves up in Israel! Its almost like a group of thugs came to power while the world was sleep at the wheel and the worlds wheels are coming off! I don't care about religion, culture, land, race, terrorist or any of that! I'm against anyone who kills Americans and threatens to destroy planet earth, so whoever you are, if you are killing Americans or threatening the planet, I am your enemy, watch out! - Reply to this comment
- I really believe that when the U.S. Administration changes so will the worlds attitude towards the U.S.. I really don't think the ill will towards the U.S. is permanent and will get better, but not overnight.

The attitudes will only change IF our actions and attitudes change. If we elect a Republican--I am afraid it will be more of the same. I was born in England and go back to Europe at least once a year. The attitude used to be that it was our government not the US citizen but by 2004, it had changed to --you get the government you vote for..and that our government only reflects the people who put it in place. What this means is that many despise of--if not for George Bush's acts--then for allowing Bush to perpetuate those acts. As for forgiveness, how long should a person who lost a child or family or life or culture hold on to their anger against us? How long should the people hold onto such an anger? How soon could you forgive someone who did to America and its people what we have done to Iraq? And how should other Muslims feel--realizing that they may be next? We hope they can just let it go--but if it were me, I probably would hate the country that did this until the day I died and I would tell my children and grandchildren the stories so they could continue the enmity. - Reply to this comment
- see if the wall works for you if all inside are slaughtered. the blood will be on US hands again. I was a student of the holocaust and can state that walls are always told to people to be for their own good but usually this is done so they will not resist the wall. The wall is done to isolate any group and to be able to carry out operation without providing ready means of escape. This means the walls can be used by our troops to conduct systematic house to house inspections looking for men, boys or weapons while also cutting off any routes to escape. This also means it can be erected so that when/if the Shia are given the green light to massacre the Sunni, they will all be held prisoner in one area. Any Sunni with half a brain would leave before that wall is built and never return--because even if our intentions are good--by erecting the wall, we basically place them in a seige situation. The wall can easily be surrounded to kill any who may flee and if they do not respond the way the Shia tell them, all supplies including food and water can be cut off from the outside. They are sitting ducks and America is making sure they sit still. WArsaw Ghetto 1944, Loedtz ghetto--prior to liquidation. Walls are mostly not about keeping things out as they are about concentrating an undesireable element and cutting off routes of escape.

Many countrys around the world are up to date on American News and Politics. Many countrys around the world are also well educated. I believe that the world knows Pres. Bush will not be in office much longer and his administrations policies are not supported by the majority of Americans. I really believe that when the U.S. Administration changes so will the worlds attitude towards the U.S.. I really don't think the ill will towards the U.S. is permanent and will get better, but not overnight. - Reply to this comment
- Americans keep making the same stupid mistakes, not responding the way they should until a Pearl Harbor or 911 type attack and then everyone becomes united "briefly" until the danger goes away and the threat subsides and its back to business as usual. I don't agree with everything the adminstration is doing or the way its doing it but its doing something and something is better than nothing. I keep hearing about a war of choice but once again America didn't chose any of this!1993 - First attempt to blow up World Trade Center
1996- Khobar towers blown up in Saudi Arabia
1998- US embasy in Kenya blown up
2000- USS Cole bombed in Yemen
2001- World Trade Center blown up

America may not have chosen to be attacked by any of those terrorists--but we did make the choice to attack a country that had nothing to do with the above attacks. By doing that, we increased the likelihood of not only having enemies in Kenya, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan--but by attacking people who had done nothing to us--we can add Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as lebanon (for our part in last years butchery), Syria. If this were WWII, it would be like Roosevelt attacking Mexico after Japan bombed us. - Reply to this comment

My view of this wall is it's stupid! But I have a personal philosphy of choosing between lesser evils, which basically states that when all your options are evil, you chose the lesser evil. With that said the options are let the Shiites and Sunnis continue to slaughter each other or find a way to stop it! Someone came up with the idea of this stupid wall! The wall is evil, the Shiites and Sunnis blowing each other up is evil too! The wall is the lesser evil! So the wall works for me until someone comes up with something better! That's how my lesser evil logic works and in that context the wall doesn't seem so bad, for me anyway! - Reply to this comment
