Join up and serve your country, I did (USN, 73-77 radioman), and if you are to old for recruitment, there are NGO's if you are qualified. We have spread ourselves thin on the fight on terrorism by this diversionary war, had we commited the same amount of troops in Afghanistan we probaly would have Bin Laden by now.Had we addressed the killing of 200,000 by terrorist in Darfur and made a real attempt to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict according to the Camp David Peace Accords we would be seeing a decline in the growth of terrorism.Instead terrorist are becoming harder and harder to profile and recruitment is up because of Iraq, failing to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Darfur,Thailand etc.Darfur and Thailand alone account for over 220,000 lives lost because of terrorism. So join up if you have not served and if age is a factor there are the NGO's. - Reply to this comment
- Notice that we hardly hear of 'al-Qaeda-in-Iraq' anymore, as this silly ruse is no longer useful to the Bush regime.

I agree with your comment but it reminded me that the US has not had a "terrorist alert" since the 2004 elections.
Which is very strange given the fact we were having them weekly immediately prior to the election. - Reply to this comment

Troll. Could be a new one but more likely an old recycled one. I'm thinking lars008 trying out a new one, but I might be wrong on that. Anyone else want to play "Name That Troll"?

I tried, but that is some of the most boring drivel I've ever read. Of course, I rarely, if ever, read much beyond the first line of anything Lars posts, so he may be equally boring.
He could have summed it up in one sentence:
"I HATE MUSLIMS AND BEND OVER FOR BUSH." - Reply to this comment
- "Wow all the anti american, hate and name calling coming here. May be terrorist trying to undermine America."
Or patriots wanting America to do the right, smart thing instead of the Bush thing. - Reply to this comment

No serious analysis of Iraqi resistance groups has ever placed the numbers of "foreign fighters" in Iraq at more than a few thousand. Even if such a group ever existed, 'al-Qaeda-in-Iraq' has never been a significant element of the Iraqi resistance, other than for propaganda purposes.
Sadr has again called for Iraqi unity, and he is asserting the right of the Iraqi people to defend themselves against a brutal, illegal, and corrupt invasion of their country.
The Iraqi people have every right to defend themselves, of course, and they obviously have the right to have a massive peaceful demonstration, without being shot at by hostile foreigners, and without being threatened with bombing, by some anonymous fool on the Internet. - Reply to this comment

- I also believe people have a right to freedom. If they can't obtain it on their own, it is in the worlds best interest to help them. By the way we're still looking for Ben Ladin! He's hiding in one of those ME country's that the lefties will claim we have no business entering. That's why we should put a big ole hurt on all the ME, so they'll clean up their own back yard and learn to play nice. Anxiously awaiting all the Bush bashing, nazi, facist, chicken heart comments from all who cannot see beyond the end of their nose, and recognize that there are eeeevvvilll people who wish to cut your heads off, rape your women, molest your daughters, recruit your sons, and eliminate all that do not share in their religion. Even before we thought of going over there. Hmmm I would consider that a threat...

- Wow all the anti american, hate and name calling coming here. May be terrorist trying to undermine America. Libs always label when they can't rationalize. We're a far cry from being Nazi, and far cry from being tyrants. If we're anything like you portray you certainly wouldn't be able to voice your retared rethoric. Protest in Iraq? whoopi, at least they can now. Increased violence? No wonder after pelosi's trip where she insults all of the ME by just being a woman with a big mouth. They don't value women in any matter of importance! She just emboldened the terrorist. "oh look they're caving in" could be heard around the whole ME. If I were a terrorist that would certainly make me double my efforts. Wmd's? Oil? corporate conspiracy's? Iraq was no threat? Didn't give them enough chances? All balarney... The left/right all believed they were a threat! Because they really were!!! Anybody with terrorist mentality is a threat, especially when they have the capabilities... They grow up wanting to cut your head off. They've declared a religous war on us because we're a christian nation. When someone states their intention to kill me, I'm going to assume they mean it, and take action to reduce their ability.

- This is anniversary 4 in Iraq. The Iraqi people protested our presence, although it was probably a political move by Al-Sadr, it undermines what we as a nation has been told. To stay the course. Well I think that our course just hit a reef & we are sinking as did the cruise ship did in Greece.

- The problem with Iraq is they are running out of their own people to blow up and slaughter so now they are looking for fresh meat to kill and that fresh meat is U.S.!!

- al-Sadr suggests that maybe this time next year Iraqi citizens will be able to have full sovereignty. This is a man who eschewed the voting process, and fought American forces that were there to bring stabilization. The guy doesn%u2019t have a clue on what full sovereignty means, except that he would like Democracy to go away and instead place him as the religious master leader like in Iran. And that is what just might happen if America pulls away from supporting a balance in the region.
So tens of thousands of people in Iraq protest to claim their liberty, but did they vote in their last election? Democracy requires a liberally educated middle class to maintain stability. This is what is changing here in America, conservatively educated people want to minimize the middle class, and also decide for others what is proper. And the funny thing is that, even will an ever-decreasing middle class, illegal-aliens in America have street protests to point out that they want to stay in America. - Reply to this comment
- There is no one that I know of on this board that sympathizes with terrorist or are terrorist. They are Americans who do not agree with the war in Iraq and feel that we should have been going after Bin Laden instead of Saddam who was not a threat. Our actions in Iraq have turned it into a recruiting ground for terrorist (NIE report). And now we have today Oh that right you must have read the article on this site and the wonderful comments by Sadr.

Bravo! Well stated! These idiot right wingers have no good argument to present so they revert back to the lying garbage of "You're for us or you're with the terrorists", which is such a load of cr*ap. In America we're allowed to disagree with the as*shole in the White House over policy, but still be patriotic Americans, though Bush, Cheney and their more moronic supporters wish it was otherwise. In fact dissension is the single most American thing a citizen can do! This nation was founded on the idea of "I disagree!". - Reply to this comment
- Hey lars008 at least your fighting in your own way. There are terrorist or at least sympathiers on these boards. Someone needs to deal with them. Just be smart about it.

That doesn't make me one of them, except in my Katie Holmes obsession. (Or is she a Scientologist ?) - Reply to this comment
- Then again maybe it's the case that no branch will take him even with the incredibly lower standards and the "help" of enthusiastic recruiters. I mean as a USAF vet I'd hate to think they'd let an idiot like him in there.

Lars, by his own admission, was rejected by the reserves. Wonder why? Maybe because he thinks it's "manly" to snipe and call names from behind a rock?
Not the kind of valor they were looking for, to be sure. - Reply to this comment

- "After four years of occupation, we have hundreds of thousands of people dead and wounded."
Wasn't that the charge against Hussein the neocons shifted to as justification for the invasion/occupation when it became clear that their accusations of WMD's were invented?
