Merchants At Oft-Bombed Market Say Heavily Guarded Tour Doesn't Reflect Reality
- "Going to Syria sends mixed signals, signals in the region and, of course, mixed signals to President Assad," Bush said. "And by that I mean, you know, photo opportunities and/or meetings"
Said the king today. And McCain's wasn't a photo opportunity?
The flip floppers really have to abdicate the throne.
Pelosi's actually going to meetings, and McCain did what? Took a few kodak moments. - Reply to this comment
- Can any of the republicans give us straight talk? If I can't even believe what John McCain has to say, how can I believe that other Republicans are talking straight to the American people when the evidence is in plain sight that this surge is MORE OF THE SAME?!?!?! The commander in chief doesn't know which end is up, so I guess we have to let the congressional leaders try something new, even though the congressional leaders have no say in how the troops are deployed. What a mess!!!

- Shrubby has an issue with Pelosi building ties, and yet say's nothing about McCain going on a dangerous photo-op?
If McCain would have been abducted, well, you can imagine the mess that would cause.
I'm pretty well convinced those reich wing folks ain't quite all there. - Reply to this comment
- Nancy Pelosi will be hailed by history as America's 'Iron Lady'. She is standing firm in the face of the most corrupt and violent regime in the history of the world.
Keep up the good work, Nancy, the world is counting on you!! - Reply to this comment
- It must have been a real sight to see!! 150 armed bodyguards, 20 armored Humvees buzzing around, attack helicopters circling overhead.
McCain (in full body armor) standing in fromt of one of the few remaining open-air markets trying to force a grin for the photo-op while screaming through clenched teeth,"hurry up... get this over with!!" - Reply to this comment
- And from the other side of the aisle, some good news...(on Pelosi in Syria)
"The Syrian media are hailing her visit as a potential breakthrough in icy U.S.-Syrian relations, with the Syria Times calling her a "brave lady on an invaluable mission."
As I've lost respect for McCain, I've gained even more for this great woman. She has more brains than the whole reich wing. - Reply to this comment

- "Sen. McCain praised the safety of the city since the American troop surge"
He praised the safety of the city after US troops cleared and secured the entire area of all other people, put snipers on all the roofs, he donned his body armor, was protected the whole time by 100 soldiers, and 6 of our helicopters patrolled overhead.

- The story says "A U.S. Marine was killed in combat in Iraq's volatile Anbar province, the military said on Tuesday."
I'm sorry to hear about the Marine.
Does this report about a combat engagement mean that the news blackout is lifted on combat by US and UK forces? And on casualties caused by this combat? Although, consistent with the blackout, only a US casualty is reported. For all we know 200 Iraqis were killed in this engagement.
The blackout hasn't been mentioned by the media - I guess that is part of the blackout - but a person would be hard pressed to find a report of a US soldier or US fighting machine hurting anybody in the last 4 months.
From the news reports a person might suppose that the US and UK forces are shooting kisses and dropping lollypops while the insurgents are shooting bullets and blowing folks up with bombs.
I wonder if this is like the AP test of a news blackout on the Hilton girls? - Reply to this comment

- I honor McCain for his wartime service. I do however believe he is 'clueless'. Won't some one 'please' run for POTUS that has common sense.

- Cheney's *** kisser. McCain is going to have Cheney as his VP or adviser. As Bush has. Corporate Cheney is not an American. Ike has warned us aout people like this worm. At one time I was going to vote for McCain. But since he's kissing up to Corporate Cheney I'm ashamed of the republican party. Think of the good republican's we have had. They were middle of the road I love America people. Abe, Teddy, Barry, Ike and Gerry Ford. These selfish self serving people (Limballs, a good democrat is a dead democrat.) I got mine, did you get yours. Doper Rush worth over 100 million why do you listen to Him?
