American casualties always matter, regardless of your point of view on Iraq. But the public debate about the cost vs. benefit of Iraq has strayed from a fundamental truth that GOP Bush boosters are more than happy to ignore-- America has no justification whatsoever for invading or occupying Iraq.

The original invasion on a pack of Bush lies continues bereft of even a figleak of a moral basis. A whimsical Bush "Sorry 'bout that!" just won't cut it. Nor will a Gonzales-style, "Mistakes were made." With no basis for invading and no justificaton for staying, the only honorable thing for America to do is withdraw.

But remaining week after week in Iraq without a shred of a rationale for the American presence makes the casualty rate all the more difficult to bear. This does not mention the horrendous cost of the war from day to day-- so far totaling $413.3 billion.

End the American Occupation of Iraq-- 2
Few realize Bush, himself, planned on troop withdrawal after the 2003 invasion. Bush correctly recognized the world community expected a full American military withdrawal. After removing Saddam and declaring the theater clear of WMDs-- according to Bush's own argument justifying the war-- there was no plausible defense for staying.

But oil interests figured otherwise. After some fateful decisions by Paul Bremer and others launched the American occupation, it was clear powers-that-be had argued for invasion on one basis, but occupation of Iraq on quite another.

Today, the US builds some ten new military superbases in Iraq, and their purpose is to guarantee continued occupation of Iraq. The occupation, itself, has nnothing to do with Iraqis "standing up" but with American designs on Iraq as a huge oil asset for the future and a military force-projection launchpad for the region.

Perhaps all of you can set aside your political agendas and mourn the loss of 6 amazing American heroes. One of which is a close friend of my husband and I. SGT Bowling, you are a hero and a man of courage. Our prayers will uplift your wife and two babies.

The U.S. military killed two more students today in Iraq.

Can we call this a victory, if we can find some unnamed official that can "link" these students to some scary group or another for us?

The Republican Party is now nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Bush neocon agenda of war and profiteering.

And it looks like "straight talking" McCain has
succumbed to it too, just like the rest of the spineless party sycophants, only exception being Chuck Hagel.

Meanwhile, headlines for another story today shows how encouraging these signs are:

With encouraging news like this, I guess we can have the victory parade soon!

Re: "An Iraqi military spokesman said Sunday that militants fleeing a security crackdown in Baghdad have made areas outside the capital "breeding grounds for violence" after a week of deadly bombings and sectarian attacks."

Gee! Who could have predicted that? Are our military leaders really as inept as they seem?

McCain says it is safe to walk the streets in Baghdad.

This is almost certainly true since we know McCain wouldn%u2019t lie just for political gain.
(Depending on what Is is).

The truth can be told in so many different ways there should never be a reason to lie.

A fishing guide tells his clients they can always catch fish if they sing to them. Of course if they catch fish it proves he is a terrific guide and if they fail to catch a fish he simply tells them they were not singing the right song.

McCain is right, as long as you walk the right street

This is true! I saw the Los Angeles Police Chief say it from his own mouth on CNN. Amazing!

Iraqi kids going back to school, now that is good news.

Posted by tbweb at 07:15 PM : Apr 01, 2007

It would be, except that before that as*shole Bush launched his war of choice and for profit the children of Iraq never had to have an armed escort to go to school. In fact Iraq had one of the highest (both male and female) literacy rates in the Middle-East. Yes Saddam was monstrous (we should know, since we supported him for years), but the Iraqi people lived in one of the secular and progressive nations throughout the region.
