I might be inclinded to believe that if you had a source.
My source, Kevin Phillips' "Politics of the Rich and Poor" says you're wrong. The top 20% make 80% of the income but only pay about 40% of the taxes. Since the poor don't pay taxes, guess who pays the rest?
The middle class social security tax rate alone, on personal income, is over 1000 times higher than the top 1%.
Bill Gates' wealth is equal to that of 40% of the U.S. population, and you know he's not paying 40% of the taxes.
What's your source, badass? - Reply to this comment
- Personally I think the homeless should be paying all the taxes, but that's just me...
"In the United States, the Treasury Department reported based on IRS data the share of all federal taxes paid by taxpayers of various income levels. The data shows the progressive structure of the U.S. federal tax system that reduces the tax incidence of people with smaller incomes, as they shift the incidence disproportionately to those with higher incomes.
The top 0.1% of taxpayers by income pay 17.4% of all federal taxes (earning 9.1% of the income).
The top 1% of taxpayers by income pay 36.9% of all federal taxes (earning 19% of the income).
The top 5% of taxpayers pay 57.1% of all federal taxes (earning 33.4% of the income).
The bottom 50% pay 3.3% of all individual income taxes (earning 13.4% of the income)."

The Commander-in-Chief foresaw this clearly:
"There will be good days and bad days in Iraq." Bush - a brilliant and insightful prediction.

Funny, badass. Bush41 lacked the backbone to stand up against his administration in regards to taxes. Besides, tax increase or decrease has little impact on the economy.
However, your portfolio should have tripled under Clinton; mine did, even though I didn't have much to start with. But every little bit counts.
Also, the AMOUNT your two houses appreciated is irrevelant without knowing the rate of increase.
Actually, the questions were rhetorical; only you know the true answers to those questions and I doubted you would ever admit any good came out of the Clinton years. I don't believe anything you say anyway. You're so full of yourself... - Reply to this comment

Lower wages are a form of taxation.
"Because businesses are more sensitive to wages than employees, payroll taxes, employer mandates, and other taxes collected from the employer end up being born by the employee. The tax is passed onto the employee in the form of lower wages." - Wikipedia - Reply to this comment

- and somehow you are shifting the topic away from the sheer stupidity of spending $1 trillion on a *** hole like Iraq (which will be celebrating in the streets when we pull out, get ready for the tv images) when we have cops, teachers firemen, etc. losing their jobs in america. The republican motto- who cares about anyone but myself? me me me me me

- Posted by badaxmofo-that's on paper BEFORE the loopholes are applied. the difference between appearance and reality is all the difference in the world. When we're pumping gas at $3 something a gallon and exxon is posting record profits it doesn't take a genius to figure out what is happening.

Why the website software feels the need to censor that perfectly respectable three letter word is a mystery.

- Bush doesnt care if 1000 iraqs or 1000 US soldiers would have been killed today. He still is going to waste lives and money on a theory. He doesnt care and will never admit he is wrong!!

- The low birth rate in Europe is not much of a problem.
This is no longer a world where strength lies in numbers and rapid reproduction.
Incidentally, Japan also has a very low birth rate. A Japanese scientist was recently quoted in the press as saying that the low Japanese birth rate was caused by Japanese not having *** often enough.

- greed and selfishness is not a virtue, badaxe. it is sociopathic. Those "taxes" you're referring to are closing loopholes for the extremely wealthy and the oil companies that have been raping our economy for 6 years under the Bush crime family's control.

- Why the trillion dollars spent on Iraq DOESN'T matter: death rate exceeds the birth rate in Europe, put simply shrinking population, put more simply for a Bush hater - the US and Asia only economic shows in town (world)!

You can't believe the garbage you type. You need to talk to the poor and the hungry in our own country if you think throwing a trillion dollars away like a drunken teenager with a credit card doesn't matier, if a republican can lower themselves enough to look at someone not in their class, that is. - Reply to this comment

How did your portfolio fare during the Clinton years, badass?
How did the Clinton Army do in the first couple years of the war? What has Bush done to protect them since?
Actually, with the exception of Kennedy, presidents have very little to do with big changes in military strategy or hardware. But Bush still hasn't provided proper protection for troops and vehicles.
And, oh yeah, "read my lips; no new taxes." Perhaps you're not old enough to remember that one.
Somehow, you and your children and grandchildren will be paying for "Bush's Blunder" for a very long time. Higher personal taxes or not, you will pay for it.
One of the "taxes" of this war that we are experiencing is higher gas and fuel prices. They are a direct result of Bush's Blunder and they will be around for a very long time.

I'm not trying to give anyone any ideas.
In any event it wouldn't be something that hasn't already occurred to them.

Oklahoma City was low tech and only took those homegrown nuts a couple of years -- I don't think they got started until Waco, two years prior."
Yep, true. But I also have to think that after 9-11, an Oklahoma City may seem small potatoes to the terrorists and anything less than a 9-11 now would be disappointing for them.
I hate to say it, but maybe Arab profiling by authorities and citizens helps. Though uncontitutional to law abinding Arabs and Muslims, it does make it harder to operate in this country. At least until we figure something better out. - Reply to this comment
- Gee, is it me, or are the insurgents thumbing theirs noses and explosives at us? It would take every person we have in the military to stop what is happening in Iraq! And if you think fighting them there is what's stopping them from coming here, you're a bigger fool than the one occupying the White House. The biggest act of terrorism this country is facing are the actions being committed against the American people by this Administration in its ghostly "War On Terrorism"!!! There are always going to be people who disagree with American foreign policy, and they don't always live beyond our borders, i.e., Timothy McVey, but to perpetuate this constant "fear" mentality, without a working strategy to lessen the fears of common Americans, is ridiculous. Bring our troops home and defend our borders here!!!

Did I say that? When did I ever say that the world was warm and fuzzy? Typical righty to make the jump from point A to point 37 - out of order and completely irreverent. I didn't realize that the ONLY response to bad countries and people is to bomb them into submission.
We are too strong, with too many advantages, to be defeated by militant Islam. To suggest so is ridiculous. We can check back in a hundred years, but right now, I'm not too worried. If we use diplomacy, intelligence and good 'ol brainpower to deal with the threats - mixed in with a few sensible military options (e.g., Afghanistan = good war, Iraq = bad war) and not just the righty way of never not liking a good war, we will be all right. - Reply to this comment
