Who is our enemy? Al Qaeda. The Shiite and Sunni rivalry will play itself out, and it'll be ugly. That is why we need negotiation and diplomacy with both Iran and Saudi Arabia, as they currently aid the two respective sides. With respect to al Qaeda, if we were to remove our troops from the center of the conflict the Iraqis would do our job for us: THEY would not tolerate the presence of al Qaeda. The Shiites and Kurds both hate al Qaeda, and al Qaeda does not even enjoy a tremendous amount of support from the majority of the Sunni population. Remove the troops to the perimeter, hire REAL diplomats who can facilitate a relative Shiite-Sunni truce, and let the Iraqis turn on and target al Qaeda for us. Sounds like a hell of a lot better plan than the one Caption Surge and the rest of foreign policy impaired have presented.

Saudi Arabia is supporting the Sunni insurgents and al Qaeda in Iraq and no one is reporting it or even acting like they care in Washington! The Bush administration is funding al Qaeda in Lebanon! Everyone knows that the Saudi Royal Family is a family friend of Bushs and that puts him at odds with American national interest!

ObservantX-

I found it to be very insightful. It does, to a degree, explain why some reject the obvious.

I feel it gave me a better handle on where these die-hards are coming from and their internal motives for being so insistant in pursuing what is obviously unattainable.

Glad you enjoyed it as well.

I read the article you referred to. I'm assuming it was the one about the "Iraq syndrome".

very perceptive. I was struck about how ingrained the "virtue and insecurity" duet has become in our society. We want to wear the white hats and have the happy Hollywood ending. Unfortunately our little king and his koolaid kourt lied us into the brier patch and then totally bushed the entire campaign.

There is no good way out now. No matter what we do the violence there will continue to simmer and eventually boil over into complete unrestrained slaughter and bloodbath.

Appeal for Redress
Sign this Appeal.
This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.
An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.
It is authorized by DoD Directive 1325.6 and DoD Directive 7050.6.
The wording of the Appeal for Redress is:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please Sign this Appeal.
Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and attacks by our media on our conduct and mission act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties. This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.

Never fear folks this is just yet another example of the Bush Administration's SUCCESS story called Iraq. LOL What's left to say about the most INCOMEPTENT Administration in US history or the Worst Blunder in our history? I just hope that someway these talks can push Sir Lies-A-Lot out of the area. When we are gone, when Sir Lies-A-Lot is no longer a factor, they may find peace there. Couse he hasn't pounded his chest lately and screamed "Bing em' On", that's an Improvement. LOL

Just read an excellent article that addresses why so many refuse to accept the reality in Iraq.

MAYBE WE SHOULD SEND IN OUR HOMELAND IN-SECURITY OFFICIALS. THEY CAN RIDE IN ON THEIR RACING LAWN MOWERS, AND SAVE THE DAY.

You know you are well protected when the "security forces" are kidnapped.

Is there any point to US involvement in this dark comedy?

If it takes two years to "train" people to become police officers or soldiers, they are never going to be trained.

Time to pull up stakes and send ExxonMobil (et al) a bill for all the wasted lives & money.
