- It is not possible to have western style "democracy" in Afghanistan because the majority of people cannot read nor write.
Which means the only thing they know is what they are told.
The idea the US is going to "win" in either Afghanistan or Iraq is undoubtedly the stupidest claim anyone has ever made. And, even if the US "won" in Afghanistan, we would still have lost. Afghanis live in poverty primarily because Afghanistan as a nation is useless.
Afghanistan's illiteracy:
definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 36%
male: 51%
female: 21% (1999 est.)

- The US will leave Afghanistan just like the USSR did. There will be no 'winning' there either, the populace hates us, and doesn't wish for, nor understands democracy. What we hear in the media is just for those simple enough not to wish to think for themselves. When you listen to the evening news with educated ears, there is NO 'news'...

- As I recall, the US & UK initiated an unjustified war of aggression against another sovereign nation.
After which, they ("we") demanded, under force of arms, the indigenous people form a government according to our rules. And, have proceeded to slaughter, torture, rape or imprison anyone who attempts to resist those unlawful acts.
Which eventually resulted in a government that does not represent the Iraqi people so much as it represents the GOP war criminals and profiteers in the US.
So, the question is, who are the "bad guys" in this scenario?
Further, Saddam attempted to do the same thing in Kuwait, and did the same thing to his opponents.
If Saddam deserved execution, so does George Bush (and his supporters). There is little difference in their behaviors.
Iran seems to be acting as a good neighbor and helping Iraqis resist the unlawful occupation by a hostile foreign power. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe they are doing it for PROFIT. Now there's something the USA can relate to.

- Feelfree,
The US is still supplying arms and money to Iranians. We are supplying the Iranian terrorist groups murdering innocent Iranian civilians. Hoping to topple the Iranian government and replace it with the same kind of chaos we see in Iraq.
Good plan, huh? (sarcasm intended)
The US does NOT stand on the "moral high ground" when it comes to lecturing others about "terrorism." Especially under direction of the Bush administration, the most corrupt, incompetent and dishonest administration of any nation in history. - Reply to this comment
- One would expect ol' Bill Clinton to have discovered "Explosively Formed Penetrators". I didn't think it was Bush's style.

- The US is supplying arms and money to an Iranian terrorist group, so why complain?
It appears this is a great time to remove all US troops now that Iran is taking responsibility for Iraq's security. - Reply to this comment
- Imagine!
What if the Iranians sent the Iraqis some of the leftover U.S. weapons, supplied to the Iranians under the VP watch of Bush senior, and by his Iran/contra co-conspirators, which include Rumsfeld and Gates!
I'd bet that would get their collective panties in a bunch! - Reply to this comment

I'm sure Russia is laughing at the turmoil we are in with Iraq. I wonder if someone would find a link to Russian made weapons and Iran's alleged support of the Shiite militias in Iraq.
This war in Iraq has similarities both to Vietnam and the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, except in the case of the latter, the U.S. is playing the roll of the Russians in this theater.
One note:
Though I made a correlation between the Russian occupation in Afghanistan and the U.S. occupation of Iraq, I realize that there is no proof or theory of Russia supplying weapons to Iraqi/Shiite insurgents. However, it is very clear the Russia supplies weapons and weapon technology to Iran through legal international trade. Draw from that as you will. - Reply to this comment
I suppose the US now has to invade all countries who supply the Iraqi freedom fighters?
Seems our future as an aggressor nation is confirmed...- Reply to this comment

I am reminded that one of the only 2 SITE propaganda artists, cited here on CBS as experts, was born in Iraq, and graduated form Tel Aviv University!
What a cruel, deadly, joke of a source!!!

- Sounds like the US is mentally preparing for some sort of attack on Iran, as they are providing arms to one side in a war. I wonder what Russia thought when the US was providing Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Afghan rebels during THAT war.....

That is an excellent example of fabricated pro-war garbage. Thanks for reminding us of a few of the details in that incident. - Reply to this comment
- Bandahar is the one who suggested to Bush to go to war with Iraq. He is from Saudia Arabia. Although Bush did not need any help from him to start this war.

- lars008 There are alot of created stories going around and the people are getting paid to do it by us the taxpayers. WE are supporting NGO's that are not kosher and relying on their intel as fact when it should be scrutinized. SITE is one example. It is made up of two people and they allegedly obtained a video from Zawarhi before it got to air. Pretty neat trick when they are in DC and Zawarhi is in Afghanistan. Kind of like the video of the chopper going down in Iraq the other day. Highly polished and with music in a country that only has electricity for three hours a day and they managed to get it on a web site originating out of Iraq. Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
