Defense Secretary Says Serial Numbers, Markings "Pretty Good" Evidence Of Iran's Role
- "Just last week, Gates said that U.S. military officers in Baghdad were planning to brief reporters on what is known about Iranian involvement in Iraq but that he and other senior administration officials had intervened to delay the briefing in order to assure that the information provided was accurate."
What we will see now that the story has broken about the 'misleading intelligence' is a rush to war with Iran. The administration will, no doubt, fast forward their bogus scheme to start that war.
If there was ever a time for concerned citizens to write their congressman and voice their concerns, it is now!! - Reply to this comment
- It's a slam dunk!
Perfect timing - this comes out on the same day that we get "official" confirmation that the Iraqi pre-war "evidence" was hyped by the OSP.
Note how the "liberal media" repeats the official US talking points here: seemlessly linking the news about Iran "supporting the insurgency" to American deaths in Iraq - even though the overwhelming majority of these deaths occur in Sunni areas and have nothing whatsoever to do with the Shiites.
And this, despite the fact that Iran supports the groups that make up the Iraqi government. This is a breakdown of the groups that formed the United Iraqi Alliance, the ruling GOVERNMENT of Iraq:
SCIRI: 23% (29)
Sadrist: 22% (28)
Independents: 22% (28)
Dawa Party: 20% (26)
Fadhila Party: 13% (17)
At least 65% are made up of groups that receive(d) aid from Iran (either back when Saddam was in power and/or today). So, you'd have to believe that Iran is supplying weapons to it's own enemies. And I've got a bridge to sell you.
But the disaster in Iraq has got to be SOMEONE'S fault, and since the fake conservatives never take responsibility for their own actions, it might as well be Irans. - Reply to this comment
- Yeah, and I bet you can serial numbers for weapons made in virtually every country that makes weapons in Iraq. This is a real find.
I wonder if Gates can "find" the 8-billion in cash that disappeared while he was at it. That could buy a few weapons I suppose.
The CIA has fallen down or been pushed down and can't get up. It's now just another agency filled with poltiical hacks thanks to the Bush neocons. Yet the former head of the agency receives the USA's highest civilian medal for his wonderful work leading up to Iraq and pre-911 intelligence failures. A completely morally corrupt administrations that has killed thousands and thousands of people based on "flawed" intelligence. The biggest flaw in intelligence is at the top. - Reply to this comment
- I sincerely hope no American voter is STUPID enough to fall for any more of this administration's lies.
Gates needs to concern himself with how he is going to get our troops out of Iraq and stop worrying about manufacturing phony "intelligence" for the war criminals in the White House.
It is way past time to impeach and indict George Bush for his multiple crimes, including murder. - Reply to this comment
