Investigation Finds Efforts To Link Al Qaeda And Iraq Were Inappropriate — But Legal
- We expressed our desire to see the president's plan to reinforce American military presence in Baghdad as a vehicle ... to stabilise Baghdad and prevent Iraq sliding into this ugly war, this civil war," Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Salem al-Sabah told a joint news conference with Rice, who is on a regional tour to marshal support for Bush's plan.

- It's so funny and obvious that the facist supporters of Sir Lies-A-Lot have been driven to the hours when no one is around to spout the propaganda they have been fed. Has anyone ever noticed that they are always...ALWAYS attacking their Neighbors and Fellow Citizens because they will not drink the Kool Aid. With every day that goes by we find more and more LIES told to us to start a war that had NOTHING what so ever to do with ANY attack on us, those guys are fat and happy someplace else, or any weapons that could have been used against us, those are in the hands of OTHERS. No! These pathetic FASCIST still tell us that the reason we fail is because of "Liberal's". They just won't shut up and stop digging for the truth! Is there ANY intelligence amoung them? ANY AT ALL?

- 'About 2,000 peace activists applauded as the leaders of the United States, Britain and Australia were branded "fascist war criminals" at a conference in Malaysia'
These people obviously don't know what a war crime is. Bush hasn't committed any war crimes.
Let me guess here... YOU being a fascist, what you're trying to do here is put EVERYONE who oppose's Sir Lies-A-Lot, who LIED to all of us to start a War, that has killed over 3000 of our fellow citizens, you want to put all of them into this little box with these folks you do not like. Right? ROFLMAO Sparky a poll of the Citizens of Germany, by an margin of over 80% concidered George Bush and the present day Republican Party to be FASCIST! Now you may not agree with that, since you are so obviously ONE yourself, but I'd say the citizens of GERMANY should know a Nazi when they see one... Wouldn't you? Sieg Heil! - Reply to this comment

Your analysis is sound. Sadly, the most rationale advice seems beyond the grasp of this administration. I think the way out of Iraq rests on understanding and managing three key realities.
First, we need to recognise that our continued "visibilty" in Iraq is not helping us. I am not suggesting that we leave now, rather we need to increase the visibility of Iraqi's. If that means investing more in training, then that is what we must do. The idea of a troop surge would be laughable, if not for the fact that it will almost certainly cost hundreds more US troop deaths. Instead it is negligent.
Second, we need to make explict that continued US support is conditional. We should not walk out if Iraq meets us half way. However, our continued support must rely on the achievement of specific targets. Not only will this ensure that the al-Maliki administration realise that it is staring into the abyss, it will also engender a sense of ownership of outcomes. The current policy of virtual unconditional support is foolish.
Third, we do not call the shots. There was a time after the invasion in 2003, when it seemed our next stop would be Syria, then Iran. How things change. As it stands we are facing the very real prospect of defeat in Iraq. We need to be realistic about what we can still achieve in that country, given the realities on the ground. I have said it before that given our earlier lofty ambitions, what we achieve now can only ever be measured in degrees of failure. - Reply to this comment
- More food for thought, "Is Bush really so dumb that he is clueless and simply Cheney's puppet?"
You judge:

"I would guess, I would surmise that some of the more spectacular bombings are done by al Qaeda suiciders." --George W. Bush, on violence in Iraq, Washington, D.C., Aug. 21, 2006
"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --George W. Bush, interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006
"The best way to defeat the totalitarian of hate is with an ideology of hope -- an ideology of hate -- excuse me --with an ideology of hope." --George W. Bush, Fort Benning, Ga., Jan. 11, 2007
"People don't need to worry about security. This deal wouldn't go forward if we were concerned about the security for the United States of America." --George W. Bush, on the deal to hand over U.S. port security to a company operated by the United Arab Emirates, Washington, D.C., Feb. 23, 2006
"You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you're gone." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 5, 2006

- Arab countries support Bush's new Iraq strategy
It is SO funny seeing you poor simple minded fascist continue to follow and post *** from the Reich! I do believe if they told you losers to jump off a bridge you would do it.... WOULDN'T you? Now anyone alive, even my 9 year old Granddaughter can see through these things but for some reason YOU clowns would rather see OUR kids continue to die. Say by the way have you seen a poll of Citizens of Arab Nations? Of course you haven't, they don't carry those things in the Reich New's outlets now do they? LMAO ONCE just ONCE I would like to see a fascist who's concerned about AMERICA and OUR Kids, who are in a war STARTED on LIES by OUR LEADERS!!! Now on that the Reich has NO creditability left ANYWHERE! - Reply to this comment
- Prosecutors need to start at the bottom and work their way up. This 'Feith' should be indicted A.S.A.P. Then move up the food chain and take them down one by one, all the way to the Whitehouse. There can be no doubt that Cheney is at the top of the heap, the question is, "Did Bush participate in the structuring of this, or is he really so dumb that he sat and waited for Cheney to pull his strings?" After listening to intelligence experts on TV, I'm honestly not sure. It is sad to think that we may have a man in the office of 'President of the United States' who could be that clueless. But when we hear tings like:
"The only way we can win is to leave before the job is done." --George W. Bush, Greeley, Colo., Nov. 4, 2006
we have to take pause and ask ourselves, 'was he trying to repeat something that he was instructed to say?' Regardless, Cheney should be arrested, tried and imprisoned (at least). - Reply to this comment
- We could compare results:
The Desert Storm team is 1 - 0. (Iraq Study Group)
The neocons are close to 0 - 1.
It seems to me that if you are interested in winning the war on terror, then you acknowledge that the U.S. is badly positioned in the battle of attrition for Iraq. And like any battle in which you are badly positioned, you learn, shift, redeploy, adjust strategy, take advantage of resources you have not used (international and regional diplomacy), and basically work smart to win.
One of the signs of a winning team is, they deal with reality. Donald Feith and the neocons attempted to invent reality, not deal with it. And here we are.
We need to get Republican centrists and Democrats behind the Iraq Study Group approach, and move forward. - Reply to this comment
- "Liberty, Freedom & Falsehood"
Is it not an irony that this administration has proposed to spread liberty & freedom in Iraq (and wider middle east), through various deceptions and untruths. I have read an increasing number of posts on this site from those citing the Bible as the rationale for the initiation and perpetuation of the war. They even go as far as to quote verses of scripture to support their argument.
I myself am a Bible-believing Christian. However, my fellow Bible-believing bloggers need to keep in mind the fact that the Bible has "truth" at its core. This is an important point because with truth there is complete accountability, integrity and openness. If people know you are speaking the truth, there is every chance they will give you their support - even if they do not agree with you. And because you speak the truth with integrity, even if you get it wrong, people are more likely to understand.
Unfortunately, there has been and continues to be a glaring truth "deficit" in the manner in which this administration has managed this war. In fact, much of it has been based on a policy of active falsehood. Our "ambition" to propogate freedom and liberty, by riding on the crest of a wave of deception is proving to be inherently dangerous and hugely costly.
Those who freely quote scripture as a basis upon which to back this war, should keep this scripture in mind: "as you sow, so shall you also reap." - Reply to this comment
