While I agree with you about the republicans, too bad the democrats are the same exact thing... people voted for them to stop this BS and the best they can come up with is a "non binding resolution" can you say smokescreen?

If the democrats don't force a withdrawal, will that finally convince you fools that they're all the same? Or will you still keep making lame excuses for them all?

I had heard the report about the soldier who killed himself in a discussion on CNN or MSNBC amd got some of the specifics wrong, but you can read it for yourself at
http://www.startribune.com/462/story/963363.html

Bureaucrats are like electricity, they follow the path of least resistence. They sometimes follow their official policies if doing so is easier for them or a supervisor is watching.

If you want to put the flag waving aside for a minute and actually Support our troops, go to:
www.senate.gov or
www.house.gov
You can find and get to your senators' or congressman's page and post a comment for each of them. Tell them to put some of our money to use actually taking care of our troops. I'd like for the story cited above should be the last of its kind. Give the V.A. the money they need.

I have a different take. This is all about Bush's legacy and deniability.

If we were to star paring down our commitment now, the war would end before his presidency does and Bush's legacy would obviously be that of a moron.

If he can pump it just a bit more, he knows the wind-down will follow his presidency allowing him to blame his successor.

You're right, it is a mess out there and I'm sure their is a lot more to training than meets the eye, but we need to know when to say when. How much longer do we need to be the policeman of the world. That's the problem with our training-we supply them the same training they can, have and will one day use against us.

there is an idiom "throwing good money after bad". I think the President wants to show an accomplishment as a result of the money spent, and blood shed. He may spend a trillion dollars, along with higher soldier casualties, to prevent the possibility of an extreme Islamic regime or another Bathist megalomaniac in Iraq. The question is even if a trillion dollars is spent and 10,000 American soldiers die, can we ensure a friendly democratic entity in Iraq. I think the obvious answer is there is no certainty of that. At this point it appears the US is throwing good money after bad, and needs to develop an exit plan.

The financial cost of the war in Iraq will rise to over $5,300.00 per second. That's bad enough, but our brave men and women in the military are also paying the cost with their lives.

Supporting our troops is not just waving the flag. One of our Iraq vets came home and knew that he had mental health problems and ASKED FOR HELP at his VA hospital. He was told that there was a long waiting list. He tried to get help again and actually told the people that he was having thoughts of suicide, but they said he had to wait. A few days later he killed himself.

Screw talking about supporting our troops. Let's start backing our words with the money needed to give our heroes the help they need. If we took $100.00 out of the $5,300.00+ per second, there would be over $8.5 Million per day to provide the support we talk about giving our troops. If necessary add the $100/sec to the appropriations. These veterans deserve better than they are getting. It's time we put some action behind our "We Support Our Troops" words. Each of us has 1 Congressman/woman and 2 Senators. Anyone of us who doesn't tell them to have the help our returning soldiers need available for them, has no right to say they support our troops.
