You know if the Iraqis can't pull together as a whole and get control of their country then I say let them die. That might be cold but we have lost well over 3000 soldiers trying to give them a better life and they can't even stand up for themselves. If they would look at history and see there is strength in numbers in throughout history people have pulled together to defend their beliefs and way of life. These people just sit around without a clue waiting to see who's going to die next and wait for someone else to provide their security. The US need not be the worlds police. We are dropping billions of dollars into this pointless war and for what? There will never be peace in the mideast and Bush is not going to see one drop of the oil he's after over there. Let's get Bush out of office and get someone in who can devise an exit strategy to bring our troops home.

superdem - I'm sorry - but I just don't get this whole 'anti-war' movement - its too late - we're already in it up to our necks. I wasn't for Bush ever invading Iraq - but we're there now and we cannot simply pick up and leave - we 'broke' it and now in order to safeguard ourselves we have to find some way if not to fix it at least 'patch it up'. I think what has to happen is that we the people have to force Congress to start forcing Bush to at last be answerable for his actions and decisions and to make those decisions with congress and not unilaterally - for the Bush adminsitration acting unilaterally has always been a failure.

Here comes that higher US troops casualty rates and the additional troops have not even gotten there yet. How many more are going to die?

GW legacy so far, 3000 US troops dead and further away than ever from the pipe dream of a democratic Iraq.

Bush, there are not enough words in the English language to describe how stupid you are.

MARCH ON WASHINGTON THIS SATURDAY - JAN 27 - Please everybody come to DC and show the politicians we want them to vote to stop this terrible mistake Bush has gotten our nation into. Blogging will never take the place of action. We need the biggest demonstration Washington has ever seen - we need a crowd so big the corporate right wing media CANNOT ignore it. Come no matter what the weather - this is the first demonstration since September 2005, when the massive crowds were ignored because of Hurricane Katrina flood coverage. End this war !

bluestardad - I fear the experts are right - and by experts I surely do not mean Bush - but unlike Nam this time the enemies of America will come to our shores - again. Bush has put hte US in such danger its almost incomprehensible for many to grasp - as much as there were muslim extremists who hated us before the invasion there are tens of thousands more of them today and they're not in iraq and never were.

We are well and truly stuck - we can't leave as things stand - and we can't stay as things stand. It's going to take smarter and brighter minds to work this out - and well - we all know that leaves the Bush Administration out of it.

NOW, MORE THAN FOUR (4) YEARS AFTER BUSH DECLARED

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!"

WE SEE HOW EFFECTIVELY REPUBLICANS ARE WINNING IN IRAQ WITH THIS MONTH BEING THE 3RD HIGHEST FATALITY RATE FOR OUR SOLDIERS SINCE

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!"

NOW WE HEAR THAT WE NEED TO SEND 21,500 MORE YOUNG AMERICAN LIVES AS WELL AS UNREVEALED BILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS FOR NEXT YEAR%u2019S IRAQ ARMY; MEN WITH SUCH DIVERSE LOYALTIES THAT NOT ONLY ARE 1/4TH OFF DUTY AT ANY ONE TIME BUT THE REMAINING 3/4 ARE WARRING AMONG THEMSELVES! I JUST HOPE THAT THEIR FIRE IS %u201CFRIENDLY%u201D TO OUR TROOPS.

THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS NO IDEA OF HOW TO 'WIN' IN IRAQ, NOR ANY DEFINITION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES %u201CWIN%u201D. WHEN THOSE %u2018BOLD%u2019 INITIATES SURFACE, I WOULD LIKE BUSH TO

'BRING 'EM ON'!

BUT EVEN BEFORE THAT, I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW 'VICTORY' IN THE IRAQ CIVIL WAR WILL BE DEFINED.

I'D ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS THE ENEMY?

THE SHIITES?
THE SUNNIS?
THE KURDS? OR
THE DEMOCRATS?

IF YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO KNOW ABOUT THE NEEDLESS LOSS OF AMERICAN LIVES IN VIETNAM, YOU CAN CHECK THIS FOR HISTORICAL ACCURACY: ===

OVER 58,000 US SOLDIERS DIED FOR NOTHING! I'LL WRITE IT AGAIN: OUR SOLDIERS DIED IN VIETNAM for nothing JUST AS THEY ARE DYING IN A CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH 911. ====

SO WHEN YOU WRITE ABOUT NO RETREAT, YOU ARE ADVOCATING Stay the Curse (sic). ===

JUST AS THE VIETNAMESE DID NOT INVADE HAWAII, AS WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD DO IF WE RETREATED, SO TOO, THE IRAQIS, WHO ARE EVEN MORE BEREFT OF ANY HEAVY ARMAMENT, WILL NOT INVADE THE U.S.
===

IT SHOULD BE EVIDENT BY NOW THAT WE ARE POLICING A CIVIL WAR AND LOSING OUR BEST AND BRAVEST, FOR NOTHING; %u2026. THE SAME REASON WE LOST THEM IN VIETNAM.==

NO ONE IS MINIMIZING THE THREAT OF TERRORISM. WE MAY YET HAVE ANOTHER TRAGEDY LIKE 911 BUT LET%u2019S REMEMBER THAT 911 WAS PERPETRATED MOSTLY BY SAUDIS. BUT WE DID NOT INVADE SAUDI ARABIA. IN POINT OF FACT, THIS ADMINISTRATION FLEW THE BIN LADEN FAMILY OUT OF THE U.S. BACK TO SAUDI ARABIA AS ONE OF IT%u2019S FIRST RESPONSES TO 911.

=== HAD Bush BEEN PRESIDENT WHEN The Japanese INVADED Pearl Harbor HE WOULD HAVE BOMBED The Philippines BECAUSE ASIANS LIVED THERE.

skyk; WHEN WILL THIS MADNESS END? I WON'T TELL YOU 2 YEARS. MAYBE, AFTER THE O7, INVASION OF IRAN, WE WILL PULL OUR TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ, BECAUSE THEY WILL NEED THEM FOR REDEPLOYMENT TO IRAN. THEN AFTER ANOTHER 5 OR 6 YEARS, IF WE HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN OUR BUDGET, WE CAN BRING THEM HOME.

American do not buy the sound bite of What Happens in Iraq if we leave. This is a Rovian Tactic that supports the Stay the Course failed policy of Dicktater and the Saudi Supporting Neo-cons who have never been to war but are first in line to send someone eles's children into danger.

This madness has been going on for 1,400 years and someone had the bright idea that they could make it like us. Let me see got any ideas or are we just going to keep blowing up the place. Let them fight that is what they want that way it will be settled once and for all. When they get tired of the killing they will stop. I am sorry that you know who started this mess but it will not stop until they are ready.

Unfortunately it may well be 2 years before someone has the HONOR and INTELLIGENCE to understand the most basic human right, the right of SELF DETERMINATION. We have NO business telling Iraq how to govern themselves ESPECIALLY when you look at the INCOMPETENT Slug we have leading us.
