"Sadams old regime, of course you will say everything was fine with Sadam in power"
Posted by notblue at 05:40 PM
Show me where I've made such a ridiculous statement, notblue. You can't.
What I have said is that the NeoCons gave Iran exactly what it wanted by taking out Saddam. They are now free to expand their sphere of influence into SE Iraq and are doing so. They never could under Saddam. The NeoCon's opened the door for Iran whether you choose to admit it or not. - Reply to this comment

If Saddam's performance on UN resolutions is what you choose to base your justifications for invading, check out the list of UN resolutions Israel has ignored. Want to invade the Jews, too?
And if the resolutions issue was so dire, why didn't the U.N. itself sanction the invasion? - Reply to this comment
- excusmcngt, according to you Bush has caused all the chaos, what about AlQueda, Suni Insurgents, Shia death squads, Sadams old regime, of course you will say everything was fine with Sadam in power, sorry it wasn't, 18 U.N. resolutions under Sadam's rule, 500,000 to as many as an estimated 1 million executed. The 911 attack was before the Iraq invasion, we were being attacked when Clinton was in office. There are attacks in almost every country in the world but I guess that must Bush's fault too according to your logic. If you think for one minute that Iraq isn't today a front in the terror war today then you are refusing to accept what the radicals also believe. The chaos is part of an ideological struggle on the one hand freedom and democracy in the middle east which millions of Iraqis voted for or 6th century barbarism, Al Sadre, Al Queda, death squads, torture, civil war, genocide etc. That latter being the result of retreat.

In case you haven't noticed, Iraq has been in nothing but chaos since the invasion. - Reply to this comment

I believe that you may mean Paraguay. - Reply to this comment
- If we pull out of Iraq immediately how many American lives could eventually be lost? Leaving the mideast in chaos will do what to inhance America's safety? Punishing Bush alone for the Iraq debacle will accomplish what? Lets all do what these carping libs want, 1)leave Iraq now 2)impeach Bush 3)retreat from the world. Then what? Since none of the liberals here at left wing central can do nothing more than blather about all the mistales Bush made I guess one must assume the worild will once again become a peacefull and tranquil place once we retreat and get Bush. Finally a stategy from the left that just can't miss. Ha! Ha! Ha! toooo funny!

- Bush regime death-squads continue to take their toll.
"Negroponte and the escalation of death"
www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IA11Ak03.html
"The violations Negroponte oversaw in Honduras were carried out by operatives trained by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Records document his "special intelligence units", better known as "death squads", composed of CIA-trained Honduran armed units who kidnapped, tortured and killed hundreds of people. Negroponte had full knowledge of these activities while making sure US military aid to Honduras increased from US$4 million to $77.4 million a year during his tenure. Under his watch, civilian deaths skyrocketed into the tens of thousands." - Reply to this comment
- (continued)
"Under the "Salvador Option", Negroponte had assistance from his colleague from his days in Central America during the 1980s, retired Colonel James Steele. Steel, whose title in Baghdad was counselor for Iraqi security forces, supervised the selection and training of members of the Badr Organization and Mehdi Army, the two largest Shi'ite militias in Iraq, to target the leadership and support networks of a primarily Sunni resistance."
"Planned or not, these death squads promptly spiraled out of control to become the leading cause of death in Iraq. Intentional or not, the scores of tortured, mutilated bodies that turn up on the streets of Baghdad each day are generated by the death squads whose impetus was Negroponte. And it is this US-backed sectarian violence that largely led to the hell-disaster that Iraq is today." - Reply to this comment

To admit the obvious, that Iraq is disentegrating, would be to admit that it's the neocon's fault for undertaking this boondoggle.
Bubba/Cheney/Rice could see 100,000 Iraqi's a year die and they'd still try to contend that it's not coming apart at the seams - much to the glee of Iran, I might add. - Reply to this comment
- "Rice had told the emir that President Bush had found it difficult to send 21,500 more U.S. troops to Iraq, but he had taken the decision to prevent the country from slipping into a civil war."
Let see, 142 people dead today by their each other's hands. How many people have to be killed in a day for the WH to figure out that a civil war is the problem?? US soldiers did not kill those people. They killed each other.
Wake Up, Bush! A civil war has been going on for 3 years now. - Reply to this comment

The 1.5 million who have fled Iraq don't share your sentiment. - Reply to this comment
- Well I guess we all fail to realize that 25 Million people were finally freed from Hussein's brutal rule- Its easy to miss this point in the US where we all have freedom.

- It appears that the US accomplished absolutely nothing positive by allowing the Bush crime syndicate to send over 3,000 young (naive) Americans to their early deaths.

What they did accomplish Tuckerndfw, was giving Iran what Iran couldn't achieve on their own against Hussein. That is, an expansion of their sphere of influence in SE Iraq. And the NeoCons are scared to death that the majority of us will come to that realization. - Reply to this comment

That possibility may be the driver behind the purchase of a 100,00o acre ranch in Argentina under the names of Bubba Dubya's daughters.
Argentina has no extradition treaty with the U.S. when it comes to war crimes...... - Reply to this comment

According to what Bozo Bush describes as "success," Saddam Hussein was doing a "heckuva job." At least Saddam managed to maintain order and keep the trains running.
Something the GOP is clearly incapable of doing.
Bozo Bush and his entire administration should be on trial for war crimes. - Reply to this comment

Unfortunately, only Americans with common sense are making that plea. Those without it are screaming "Go, Bubba, GO!" - Reply to this comment
- Like all Americans have been saying, YOBITCHTALK to Iran and Syria don't shut them out then bomb them!
