He also helped hand Iraq over to the Iranians (who I bet are still laughing at how he helped them).

A mental midget indeed.

Bush invaded Iraq and killed one of al Qaeda's and bin Laden biggest enemy, Saddam Hussein, and murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent people doing and now he wants to send more targets into Iraq because he now realizes what a godd*amn stupid thing it was to do in the first place. In a way some on the right are correct, it'll be a disaster to lose Iraq. The problem is Iraq was lost the day the first shot was fired. This was an unwinnable war just as much as Vietnam was. Yes Iraq is going to become, in the short term anyway, a haven for terrorists and we have George W. Bush to thank for it. He created this new haven for them after taking away the one in Afghanistan. The man is a mental midget.

It would be the most dangerous foreign policy blunder to withdraw from Iraq.

For al-Qaida, Iraq is not a distraction, it is the central battlefield where the outcome of this struggle will be decided. Just read the comments from their leaders. If they win in Iraq, they will establish a safe haven for terrorists and terrorist-training, much like Afghanistan was prior to 9-11. Iraq would become a factory for terrorists and weapons of mass destruction which they would export. This idea comes not from George Bush, but from Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida itself.

I am beyond frustrated with Bush's "new plan". With all the study groups, panels, generals, experts, this is the best idea he's got?

Additional troops and additional funds are not going to solve this mess. The "Democracy" established there, and I use the term very loosely, is a disaster.

Civil war? Most definitely.

How can this plan truly have any chance of bringing security or peace to a country of at one time 26 million. Since our blundering invasion, the war has cost over 700,000 civilians their lives, seriously wounded over 1.2 million civilians, and that doesn't include the losses in the Iraq military. Nearly 8% of their population has been killed or seriously injured. If that percentage was here in the States, that would be about 24 million Americans. Do the Iraqi people have a right to be angry, frustrated, fragmented, confused? Hmmm.

Does this country have the demographics for a democracy to survive? Over 40% unemployment. Only 40% literacy. 97% Muslim and that is factionalized and at war within themselves.

No amount of troops and money can't fix this. Or at least, we don't have the time, manpower, or money to ever have a prayer of fixing this...not in my lifetime, I think not. Will I be seeing my 7 and 2 year old sons in this war at some point. It's been over five years already. Time flies.

How much longer, at what cost, with what realistic chance of any true change in the region do we have?

Bush's new plan is simply more failure to come.

After Reading this artical and all of the comments posted, i have comeup with a well thought out responce for bush:

Most americans think (unlike yourself)that you are lacking a few qualities.
1)Dedication to your country, you have dedication...but sadly its to your father and his war. i guess it is in the bush blood to be completely incapable of doing something for the country. atleast your making daddy proud.

2) you do know what your doing with this "war", you do know what your doing...this war maybe spending alot of tax-payer money. but think of all the bills and protection acts ect. that are being passed! and all the coat tail riders that are getting pass along with them, such as sphining gas prices down...how is this possible? what? were taking gas from Iraq and shipping it to the US!?

3) you think that the cost of life is worth it,
all i have to say on that is, send your perfect little daughters to war and see if its still worth the cost of life. imagin how that would affect you, then maybe you would understand why everyone hates you.

But in the end, your still fighting your daddys war, killing off americans, destroying a government that was doing nothing wrong, but then again we are the "world Police", killing innocent civilians and **** the world off.
good job, to bad you wont be relected...you helped out alot!!

...not to mention that lieberman18 is the same person as JaneMcGreeve who posted before the November elections last year. Exactly the same commentary, "Robert KKK Byrd" and all the other lame catchphrases she always uses. Probably kicked off due to complaints, back again with a brand new username.

BTW, I'm sure lieberman "hasn't the foggiest" what "prat" means. His thinking and, by consequence, understanding are both obviously limited and rudamentary.

Bubba can't have anyone around him who realizes that the "Emperor Has No Clothes". There are a few generals without assignment now who can attest to that fact.
