Must of been one hell of speech to get you all worked up like this. I thaught Bush's speech was excellant. Kind of reminded me of Reagan. Bush is doing exactly the right thing even though most of you have no clue whats about to happen.

IMPEACHMENT? Don't be silly. How could we possibly impeach Halliburton? You didn't really imagine they would let a gutless moron like Bush run things, did you?

D1ck "the turban" Durbin; the fool who equated our soldiers to Nazis in his speech to Congress.

Please clarify or quote where in his speech Mr. Durbin said, "our soldiers are Nazis".

To use a similar means of fallacious reasoning (known as a "Straw Man" argument), I hear that George Bush likes to bite the heads off puppies, and we all know how wrong that is.

RandalDS, you are the bigest coward on this blog. You would never pick up a rifle and stand for anything regardless of the situation anyways.

Actually I served my time in the Air Force during Vietnam. I wonder why the majority of morons on the right automatically assume liberals are not veterans, considering that the vast majority of veterans I know hate this war more then most. None of the ones I know personally agree with Bush or support this debacle. I think the old saying is true, no one hates war more then a veteran.

Hey, it only took W 4 years to finally come up with some kind of plan even though it is a dumb one. I guess it's better late than never. Can someone please remind me of how many Viet Cong W shot down while he protected us in Alabama? He had no idea what he was doing then and has no more idea of what he is doing now!

Bush should be removed from office. In fact, he should NEVER have been there in the first place. Even HE must know that. If you are against the escalation, check out michaelmoore.com, there is a link (towards the bottom right side of home page) for emergency rallies going on all over the country tonight. Check it out, and sign up to attend one in your area.

D1ck Durbin is a moron.

He cannot see that retreating for Iraq will mean political suicide for all Democrats, since our defeat in Iraq will be the fault of those who oppose the "change in course" they asked for.

Democrats are posturing themselves like they really want to lose this war. They stand to lose everything if they don't stand behind our President.

"The several, almost charming intrusions of 'Leaves of Grass' into the Starr Report mark the second time that Whitman's book has figured in a Washington scandal, which is rather a lot for a book of poetry. You might have thought that Kenneth Starr, having spent his $40 million in research, would point to the earlier time, if only to cite a precedent and lend majesty to his enterprise. But on the topic of 'Leaves of Grass' and scandalous Federal precedents, the Starr Report says not a word. The report merely records that President Clinton, in a romantic mood, gave a copy of the book to Monica Lewinsky, and that Lewinsky was keenly appreciative -- criminal details, in Starr's judgment, that help to demonstrate why the President ought to be removed from office." - Paul Berman

RE: "GW Bush has done to this country what Clinton did to Monica Lewinsky." - mcdazz

He bought us all a copy of Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass," like Clinton did for Monica ? What a thoughtful gift.

Mine must have got lost in the mail.

No the Republicans cannot go back and undo, but they can put aside their differences with the Democrats and vote with them to stop the madness coming from the Whitehouse before many more American men and women are crippled up or lose their lives. Anyone with any common sense at all can plainly see what is going on here. Bush knows with the Civil war that is going on between the *****'s and the Sunni's there is nothing that our military can do to stop it short of siding with one or the other and helping them take control, which would be the direct opposite of what he is saying he is trying to establish there, a Democratic government. This is nothing more than Bush trying to save face and pass the buck to the Maliki government. He set the stage in his speech last night, I quote: "I have made it clear to the Prime Minister and Iraq%u2019s other leaders that America%u2019s commitment is not open-ended. If the Iraqi government does not follow through on its promises, it will lose the support of the American people %u2013 and it will lose the support of the Iraqi people. Now is the time to act. The Prime Minister understands this." This way Bush comes out smelling like a rose. If his plan works, he can throw it up in the faces of those that opposed him, if it doesn't he can blame the Maliki government for failing to step up to bat, and failing the Iraqi people. Either way he is a winner, but at a very high and terrible cost....the lives of our military men and women.
