No. So many had to die because the Muslims insurgents/terrorists in Iraq are commiting war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Here's what Congressman Dave Weldon had to say:

'Even if we pull out of Iraq, the terrorists
would not leave us alone. They will never leave us alone.

For al-Qaida, Iraq is not a distraction, it is the central
battlefield where the outcome of this struggle will be decided. Just
read the comments from their leaders, don't take my word for it.

If they win in Iraq, they will establish a safe haven for terrorists
and terrorist-training, much like Afghanistan was prior to 9-11. Iraq
would become a factory for terrorists and weapons of mass destruction
which they would export. This idea comes not from George Bush, but from
Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida itself'

After coming back two months ago from being in Iraq, the only way to solve the conflict in Iraq is by going after the people bringing in the explosives and getting rid of all weapons in Iraq. When sitting in the turrent of an uparmored Hmmwv heaing bullets richocet off of my vehicle, IED's going off on almost every other mission, you start to wonder how can so many explosives be there. The problem isnt souly in Iraq, it is also coming from neighboring nations supporting the Insurgants

Bush might just as well have taken a 2x4 and smashed the biggest bee's nest he could find cause that's exactly what he has done over there. There are WAY more terrorists now that probably would not have been had Bush not done what he did. At least now others have a voice in TRYING to clean up his mess. He and Cheney are SO arrogant I don't believe they will listen for a minute. They will give everyone lip service and dump this whole mess on the next President...2008 can't come fast enough! Guessing by him bringing in some of his daddy's boys that there will be some coverup also. Guessing his mom called and said you screwed up AGAIN let your daddy fix it like he always has done.

Junior has an uncanny ability to mess things up and wait for daddy and friend and perhaps the next administration to clean up. This is not a hallmark of an able and competent leader. He is a certified failure and nothing can change that fact. His standing, if ever there was one, has diminished to a point of extinction. Unfortunately, so many have to die because of the incompetence of one man and his gang. There must be accountability.

New perspectives? Is he going to hear about the examples of Nunavut and the Haudenosaunee?

I do not believe that Dubya has the smarts or the will to change. He is too commited to big oil and big corporations to change. War is very profitable, just look at Wall Street and they don't care how or where they make those profits.

Thank you. It is extremely unfortunate, but I believe it to be true based on all I've seen to date.

Bush is more concerned with his legacy than the warriors or furtune expended in this boondoggle. He will "listen" and then stay the course hoping that history will not tag him with the demise of Iraq, but rather, his successor.
