Sometimes, atrocities were excused as actually being merciful. When a crusader army broke out of Antioch and sent the besieging army into flight, the Christians found that the abandoned Muslim camp was filled with the wives of the enemy soldiers. Chronicler Fulcher of Chartres happily recorded for posterity that "...the Franks did nothing evil to them [the women] except pierce their bellies with their lances."
during the first millennium, death was a rare penalty. But in the 1200s, shortly after the beginning of the crusades against the Muslims, wholly European crusades against Christian dissidents were enacted.

In 1208, Pope Innocent III raised an army of over 20,000 knights and peasants eager to kill and pillage their way through France. When the city of Beziers fell to the besieging armies of Christendom, soldiers asked papal legate Arnald Amalric how to tell the faithful apart from the infidels. He uttered his famous words: "Kill them all. God will know His own." Such depths of contempt and hatred are truly frightening, but they are only possible in the context of a religious doctrine of eternal punishment for unbelievers and eternal reward for believers.

This sort of action was not an isolated event - indeed, it was repeated throughout Europe by all sorts of crusading hordes. The lucky Jews were given a last-minute chance to convert to Christianity in accord with Augustine's doctrines.
When Peter the Hermit's army entered Yugoslavia, 4,000 Christian residents of the city of Zemun were massacred before they moved on to burn Belgrade.Taking the heads of slain enemies and impaling them upon pikes appears to have been a favorite pastime among crusaders.

When Muslim cities were captured by Christian crusaders, it was standard operating procedure for all inhabitants - no matter what their age - to be summarily killed. It is not an exaggeration to say that the streets ran red with blood as Christians reveled in church-sanctioned horrors. Jews who took refuge in their synagogues would be burned alive, not unlike the treatment they received in Europe.

In his reports about the conquest of Jerusalem, Chronicler Raymond of Aguilers wrote that "It was a just and marvelous judgment of God, that this place [the temple of Solomon] should be filled with the blood of the unbelievers." St. Bernard announced before the Second Crusade that "The Christian glories in the death of a pagan, because thereby Christ himself is glorified."

hamiltongrad posted: "President Clinton and his leaders did not understand the EVIL of the Islamic Fascist and culture, and so we had 9-11. It was beyond what our comprehension of what people do. (SLITTING THROATS OF STEWARDS)"

WRONG, we had 9/11 mainly because of our involvement with Israel and killing Palestinians- just watch the tapes from Bin Laden where he says exactly why he ordered the attacks.
You need a little HISTORY lesson bro, for CHRISTIANS were doing the same things during the reformation, inquisition and crusades- including spearing the wives of "enemy" soldiers in the belly. QUOTE:

attempts by European Christians to impose their vision of religion upon Jews, Orthodox Christians, heretics, Muslims, and just about anyone else who happened to get in the way.
Tens of thousands of peasants followed Peter the Hermit who displayed a letter he claimed was written by God and delivered to him personally by Jesus.Showing a level of rationality consistent with their choice of leaders, Emich's followers decided that before they traveled across Europe to kill God's enemies, it would be a good idea to eliminate the infidels in their midst. Thus suitably motivated, they proceeded to massacre the Jews in German cities like Mainz and Worms. Thousands of defenseless men, women and children were chopped, burned or otherwise slaughtered.

hamiltongrad struggles vainly to equate JFK with Bush, and after hearing him preach the Bush line for so long, this is quite entertaining to watch.

Clearly, however, Bush is no JFK. Bush is only the bozo who dissed all over the concept of "nation building" until it suited his need to find-- quickly-- a rationale to excuse invading Iraq (and to replace WMDs). Thanks to "Ditto-think" factories like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, we soon found our landscape covered like toadstools with Bush-boosters reciting the new Party Line, "Liberation", "democracy", "freedom".

These proto-fascists are not convincing when they cannot practice at home what they preach abroad. Bush has embarrassed and angered Americans with his lawlessness, deceit and corruption, and left the entire Iraqi nation in a bloodbath. Iraqis cannot find safety from their civil war, despite the presence of 135,000 US troops-- and this is nation-building?

Hamiltongrad, what do you think your comments imply, "a love of humanity", or "words of hatred and bigotry. You are obviously a racist, %u201Chad the Universities not rammed down the concept of multiculturalism, and "all cultures are the same" "Our culture is bad" - blather- perhaps we would have acted smarter%u201D.

And that makes you no better than the Islamic extremists, whom you target as barbarians, and where do you get off spouting such misanthropic nonsense.

The world is %u201Cmulticultural%u201D, and the problem with extremists like you, being so caught up in your own malignancy that you%u2019re too blind and narrow-minded to see outside your shallow perimeter.

This is not a %u201Cdecent%u201D country, and you are obviously delusional, maybe there are those who are morally in-tuned with others, however, unfortunately, not all, or else you wouldn%u2019t be making such inane ludicrous comments.

And the word %u201Cprimitive%u201D, you give yourself too much credit, maybe their methods are unorthodox, but at least they don%u2019t hide behind facade.
Your words are like tintinnabulations of hate, towards anything or anyone, of which you have a limited comprehension.

I don%u2019t agree with %u201Cterrorism%u201D, or any form of physical degradation, but pat yourself on the back as being exempted; this country has had its share of physical brutality against defenseless men, women, and children.

And talk about %u201Cprimitive%u201D, I guess hanging individuals for %u201Cwitchcraft%u201D and lynching blacks was an act of a civilized race.

hamiltongrad,

yohoooooo, wake up, this hatred-fear whistle is outdated now. All this has proved wrong and all set up in order to subdue the American people into fear, and promote the security industry into a wealthy economy...
