For Bush to oppose and denigrate the ICC, a legitimate international body, while at the same time having a show trial for Saddam, sends out a message that wehen it comes to this war between cultures, IHL (International Humanitarian Law) is subordinate to protecting the homeland.

To blame the violence on America is retarded. Arabs love to kill and seek revenge, and their violent legacy is well known. Many are of low intelligence due to lack of education, poverty, tyranny, and from following a religion that belongs in the Dark Ages. Conveniently twisting their already-twisted spiritual beliefs to justify violence against innocent people around the globe, they pursue violent solutions to age-old problems instead of trying to deal peacefully with issues that face them.

What can you say about the intelligence of a people who follow and worship leaders like al-Sadr, Bin Laden and their ilk. Further more, the entire Islamic community worldwide does little to condemn their violent fundamentalist brethren, and the world is tired of hearing them hem and haw as they pay lip service to the atrocities of their terrorist brothers, while covertly seeking funds worldwide to continue the "Jihad" against the "infidels" of the world, which include anyone with a good life in the Western world. They are jealous of our lifestyles, opportunities and freedom, and their iron-fisted tyrants have brainwashed them to believe we westerners are the root of all of their failures and problems.

Look what Allah has done for them.

Only a bleeding-heart idiot would think Saddam Hussein was unfairly tried. Wake up and smell the coffee and stop bashing your own country, or go live somewhere else.

He is getting what he deserves, even if his execution is going to be a lot more humane than his treatment of his own people for decades. This murderer and torturer of innocents, women and children deserves far worse. Maybe the America bashers and Saddam lovers should grow some balls and move to Iraq if they feel so strongly about the US.

It%u2019s my opinion that this administration is literally destroying everything this country has proudly stood for, for over 200 years, ==
When Bush was elected in 2000, or more accurately, appointed by the Supreme Court, and preceded with the Iraq fiasco, the world, for the most part, gave the American people due respect and placed most the blame on the administration. After the American people having condoned/supported him by re-electing him in 2004 the world now holds a very different view. ==
They are right. I voted against Bush both times, and the first time had nothing to do with Iraq, but against the continued borrow-and-spend policies started back in the Reagan administration. However, even though I voted against Bush in 2004 I am still responsible for our situation as is everyone who considers himself or herself American because America, through the voting process, accepts Bush%u2019s actions and we are in fact all Americans.==
If we continue to elect the same congress that has, and continues, to approve the administrations decisions we are not just responsible but indeed complicit in their acts.

Thank you, CBS, for giving us this venue to express our selves

I am not against the death penalty and I believe Saddam deserves to be tried for crimes against his people, even war crimes, but this %u201Ctrial%u201D if you can call it that is anything but fair and it is just the latest example of embarrassment to American prestige. The timing of this verdict, indeed the trial itself is proof-positive this administration will stoop to the lowest depths to retain its control. And remember, when our president is in the gutter he takes you and I with him.

To even defend liberty thou shall not kill - how can we call ourselves human beings with moral, even "democratic" if we act like an animal? Killing your socalled "enemies" are uncivilised and a totally primitive behavior - and if one then simultaniously calls himself a representative of democracy and Christianity that is only blasphemy.

janem4: When you say "we" you are not speaking for the American people! I did not vote either time for the b...... and as far as I can see he stole the election twice! So I resent your lumping this country in the same sentence with a criminal like him! You mean Bush! He has never done anything most American's wanted! He has always been a rogue President! One who goes off on his own and does what he feels like regardless of how illegal it is! If he finds out it's illegal he just tries to rewrite the Constitution! If people let him know they don't like it! He just goes behind their backs and does it anyway! When you get old and gray you will find out the hard way how much of a friend he was to you! He is working behind the scene's to change Social Security into another "Rich Give Away" for his rich wall street friends! He had to lie to start a totally unnecessary war! The man doesn't have an honest bone in his body! He has lost every ounce of crediability he ever had worldwide because he is a pathological liar! So your loyality to him is very misplaced! He doesn't deserve it! This country get's blamed because the idiot represents us! He might be intelligent but it isn't readily obvious! As a public speaker he is a loser! Not that anyone can believe a word that comes out of his mouth! My only question to people like you Janem4? Why don't you dispise him? He has done nothing for this country but drag us through the nearest gutter!

Although I am a death penalty supporter, and Saddam used poison gas to cause Kurd children and babies to violently choke to death, I think a life sentence in solitary confinement in exile would have been better.
Although he invaded Kuwait without cause and plundered and murdered there, I think a life in confinement to ponder what he lost is more approprate. It would be crushing to his ego to live out of the public eye and die in obscurity.

How many times do I have to read posts by people tearfully apologizing for the US and its actions. What is wrong with our country, we used to behave in a way in which we could be proud.

We used to have the highest standards of justice. After WWII, even the Nazis were given fair trials.

In Saddams trial, two of his defense lawyers were murdered in cold blood, and when one hand-picked judge showed a hint of non-hate towards him the judge was fired and replaced. The trial was conducted by people with personal animosity and tribal rivalry against the man, rather than by an impartial tribunal. It looks really bad, makes America once again look like horse cr*p.

So guess what, I have to apologize for America again. Many of us are just still in shock that our leadership doesn't understand what is wrong with fake show trials, how that undermines the very notion of the rule of law, and endangers the survival of all of us.

I can't imagine what kind of upbringing or education that George W. Bush had. He is the craziest lawless president we've ever had. Torture, wars of agression, spying on American citizens, fake trials resulting in hanging people seem unAmerican.

What education did this man have? Was it Yale or Pinceton, I forget. In God's name, let us shut that school down forever if this is the man who was educated there.

"Bush will use this case to tell the voters that Saddam is dead and that the Americans are safe"

We can only hope the American people are smart enough to know what's really happening by now. Bush has lied to us before; he will again if he thinks it will help him or his party.

Saddam would have been our friend and was given arms by America also he ask permission from the U. S. Before he went into Kuwait to stop their slant drilling into his Oil Fields. But was told by the U. S. that America wanted no part in a middle east war hearing that he invaded Kuwait.

This is a sad portrait of our world created by our rogue US government. Please know the people of America do not represent our ruling regime and we seek to change course. I hope one day, Bush and his people will be held accountable for their war crimes against humanity and the thousands of deaths they committed.

The effects of our shameful government is creating stress and havoc across the globe. Please know the American people do not represent the regime currently running the American government. Please know our hearts are with all of the families of other countries that the US has put in jeopardy over these years. Please forgive all the deaths we have caused because of our intrusion.

World, please forgive the U.S. God bless us all.
