How can we put Saddam back in power since we are the ones who removed him from power.Now there is a democratically elected EXTREMIST ISLAMIC GOVERNMENT in place.Can we crush that democratically elected government.What will be our position in the world then?The greatest mistake we did was that our leaders(I don't know why?)never realized that a SECUALR DICTATOR is much better then a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED RELIGIOUS RADICAL.Now if you look at that region,Iraq is next to Iran,Syria is next to Iraq,and Lebanon is next to Syria.Do you have some idea if we bring our soldiers back,How strong will be our enemies who are connected to each other from AYATOLLAHs in Iran to Hizbollah leader in LEBANON.The only region which was a barrier in the formation of this RADICAL GEOGRAPHY was SADDAM'S IRAQ.The muslim extremists should be so GRATEFUL to us that they didn't have to spend a single penny for having their dream come true.Their dream has come true by the tax we pay to our GOVERNMENT.

It's the all-encompassing arrogance of the neo-con establishment that is largely to blame for this mess. They want to remake the world in the American image, blindly believing that because our system works for us (even with all the evidence that much is broken) it will work for others. They never stop to think, or care, that much of the rest of the world is quite happy not to share in the "blessings" of American culture or American-style democracy.

Personally, I love this country and I love living here, although I do believe that America too often fails to live up to its promise. I do not assume that the rest of the world feels the same. And I certainly don't think that we have the right - or the obligation - to impose democracy at the point of a gun.

The GOP are fearmongering. Leaving Iraq will actually improve the security of the US. Iraq is in Civil War. Americans are dying fighting Civil War fighters and the odd Al Quaeda terrorist that can kill with impunity in a country with no security.
This is just like Vietnam except this time Americans are being killed by both sides in the Civil War. These Civil war fighetrs have no interestin attacking the American homeland - they just want control of Iraq.

There is no fear of the Middle East blowing up because as soon as the Americans leave the factions will start fighting each other. The Iraqi (Arab) Shiites will fight the Iranian (Persion) Shiites, Sunnis will fight the Shiites and so on.

America cannot fix Iraq, it was already broken when it was created by the British when they forced the Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds together.




The notion that America will be more at risk is all GOP spin and to frighten you to vote GOP again. If America wants to be safer, it needs to get out of Iraq and use its resources fighting the terrorists and improving homeland security, not fighting Civil war fighters and killing innocent civilians.

Its too bad that we went in on a lie and destroyed in infra structure of Iraq, but bluestardad is right, not one hair or drop of blood for a bunch of people who do not understand democracy or want it. Give them a 100 billion and tell them to fix it, but most of it will be stolen within a week. They will be killing each for years to come. Saddam knew who to hamdle them, ugly but effective.
