Comments on: U.S. Fails To Curb Baghdad Violence
Attacks Up 22% During Ramadan Despite U.S.-Iraqi Efforts
- Our govt and news media are hiding truth about Iraq. The situation is much worse then we are told. The casualty figure of our soldiers dying in Iraq is much higher then we are told.I don't understand what is the use of this STATE OF DENIAL.If we don't acknowledge the problem, how can we solve it.Our country is a democratic country and democracy means GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE.It is the right of all the Americans to know exactly what is going on in Iraq war financed by our tax money. When Jill Carol was under Insurgent's captivity, she was told by her captors that only one insurgent group, Alqaeda in Iraq has been able to kill more then 40,000 US Troops and as an evidence she was shown the Army vehicles blown up by IEDs and Suicide Car Bombs. Our Military is trained to fight wars on the front line.It will take us long time to understand how to fight this unconventional war where attack is carried out by 360 degrees and our military personal can't figure out which civilian sitting in his car with his women and children is a SUICIDE CAR BOMBER waiting for our troops,a woman carrying her two months old child whether she is a suicide bomber or not, wants to blow herself up with her little child in her hatred against west.We can only win this war if we become BARBARIC like them.

- BMALLEN3, The North Korean nuclear test took place on Bush's, not Clinton's, watch. The fact is that it was Bush who failed on this issue, as he has in Iraq. The proof is in the (radioactive) pudding.

- Sorry BMALLEN3 but everything I said is fact, except about Bush Sr. being behind the Baker plan. That is only a guess. Everything else is real.
You can turn a blind eye to the facts if you want, but that you are fooling yourself if you do. What really puzzles me is how people like you can ignore reality.
Try reading that link I posted. You won't of course, because you can't face the truth. - Reply to this comment
- Gosh, BMALLEN3, after six years of George W. as president, can't you assign him at least a little blame for the North Korean situation?
The truth of the matter is that even Colin Powell praised the Clinton Administration for leaving a promising situation with regard to North Korea. It was Bush and his hatred of anything connected to Clinton that led the current administration to pursue a new, clearly unsucessful, policy.
Stop listening to right-wing radio and get in touch with some facts. The "blame Clinton first" reaction has long worn out. - Reply to this comment

- How is it that I can read a story about attacks up more than 20% and military leaders saying this is 'disheartening', and in the comments I can read Republicans complaining about Democrats? Whose idea was it to leave Afghanistan half done, make up some story about WMDs and cake uranium, run off to Iraq, start a civil war and immerse ourselves in that war? Who in their right mind would even consider "stay the course" when the course is leading us right onto the rocks and disaster?
Time for a course change. Turn left! - Reply to this comment
- It's not gw that has a plan, but James Baker III. He was Bush Sr.'s Sec of State and a *** good one at that. He is smart (way smarter than gw, Cheney, Rummy or anyone else in that group), he is an experienced negiotiator, has the respect of both Dems and Reps, not to mention other world leaders, and is probably one of the very few people who could pull something together that would satisfy both parties and Dubya would listen to.
My guess is that Bush Sr. is at the bottom of this move, but who cares.
I just want to see a change of course whereby my soon to be 18 year old son is not looking at being deployed to Iraq. - Reply to this comment
- osidebear it was a lie that took the us to iraq before the us went to iraq bush was told by his own people iraq had no WMD and no ties with bin laden his repy was FIND IT a couple weeks later he was told they had it (proof) when he said find it he was telling his subordinate to tell me what I want to hear (that find it was on the national news)so it was a lie and laurieleemoo I see a lot of your gop now want to run away and the dems voted for going to iraq because they were lied to by your bubba

- What to do next?
Do not cut and run. The Republicans cut and ran from Afghanistan and now look at the mess.
Pursue the bad guys. Remember them? The ones in NW Pakistan?
Talk. The Iraqi militias could be on our side. They do not want Al Qaeda either.
Patience. One man's insurgent is another man's patriot. Talk to the militias.
Talk. Iran's middle class want us back. Talk and encourage them.
Talk. Keep that long term talk with Syria open.
Talk. Have a bilateral talk with NKorea in the room next to the 6-party talks.
Learn. Watch Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. They ought to be leading U.S. foreign policy.
Vote American. Snapping to the far left is just as bad as staying on the far right. Vote for the center. Vote American. - Reply to this comment

- Of course, over seeing the mass murder of over a half a million people (including many children, women, old people, etc) is going to be disheartening if one has even a tiny heart.
It is better to 'cut and run' than to 'stay the course' to leads only to hell with a stubborn devil!

- Actually I read an excellent article on the Bush Doctrine yesterday. I recommend reading it. It is neither critical nor supportive, but very informative. I always figured oil was at the root of the Iraq invasion, but this has made me rethink. Here is the link.

- clestes; but you see if we had NOT invaded Saddam would have been free to pursue his quest for a moon beam laser weapons program, which would have killed us all. So, by invading we prevented him from getting this moon beam laser weapons program, and thereby saved the world.

- If gw had done a decent job as president, I wouldn't be critisizing him. I didn't critisize Reagan.
Tell me one positive thing he has done. Here is partial list of his wrongs.
1. Run up the nation debt to trillions, which my kids will be paying for.
2. Caused the death of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians by starting a war that was founded on lies (WMD??)
3. Destroyed the US military, once the greatest in the world.
4. Worsened tensions with countries that were never our friends to start with.
5. Made the USA more isolated from our allies, which is not a good thing.
6. Forced more kids and elderly into poverty than any other president.
7. Made a mockery of our intelligence agencies.
All of the above are FACTS, not opinions.
Want me to continue?? I could... - Reply to this comment
