To

Why is cut and run is not a viable solution here? Iraq has existed LONG before the U.S. was a thought. Why do you think we need to be there? We are making the problems worse. Do you think the Iraqis incapable of coming up with a solution without us?

To lganso I never said stay the course, read my post more carefully. On a moral standpoint anyone that breaks anything up or damages it owes it to the injured party to compensate for their wrong doing. That is currently U.S. law involving numerous wrongs that occur in society.Cut and Run is not a viable solution here, just as STAY THE COURSE is not.The key to resolving this situation lies in placing pressure on the Iraqi goverment to purge itself of all it's members in the goverment, military and police of corroborating with the terrorist, militas and insurgents. So please read completely th post before you respond. It is people like candojj that disservice our country by their racism or in this case theology. Not all muslims are bad,you cannot label an entire religion as being responsible for the actions of a minority. It is the equivalent of saying all Christians are.

clestes and osibear I think you need a bit of an education. Perhaps you might study C. Wright Mills and The Power Elite. You give too much power to congress. They are but a nuisance. Congress is not of the power-elite. Someone who isn't of the power-elite will be powerless to make changes. Fear rules. Gas prices will continue to decline until the election and fear will continue to rise. Expect some major catastrophe between now and election day. The same B.S. in congress regardless, because the real power is with the corporations, their lobbies and the military and the power-elite. Not with those wanna be outsiders who wanna sit in Congress and haven't got the same blue blood.

Houser123, what exactly is the Democratic policy towards Iraq? Does anybody know? Do they know?

To lganso: The congress may have been a Republican majority but the vote would NOT have happened if the Democrats DID NOT vote for it. The so called savior of the Democratic party Hillary Clinton voted for it, so did John Kerry. Oh yeah, but he voted for it before he voted against it. HA! And all you idiots that say we went over there soley for the oil...BRING IT ON! Where is the oil at? Have not seen it. So your "rubber stamp" was on BOTH aisles.

Let's not lose sight of what this news article is relaying to us. The Iraq war is closing in on 2,800 US soldires being killed. More than 12,000 wounded with some so severe they will never lead normal lives. Add to that toll the 10's of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children killed and 100's of thousands displaced, this war has proven to be costly in human lives. Not to mention 2 billion dollars a week in money cost. I challenge everyone that is legal to vote in November to do so. Our troops have sacrificed and some have paid the ultimate price to allow the Iraqis to vote, we owe it to those troops to perform the same task here. If you believe we are on track in this country, vote republican by all means. If you think a change is necessary, vote democratic. I for one will vote and encourage others to vote democratic in Novemeber.

osidebear, I find candojj comments as offensive as you do. I find them even more disturbing when we live under a petty tyrant like Dubya who manages to foster fear as a tool to try to keep his grasp on power. He knows *** well that if the Dems take over one or both houses of Congress this fall, his perilous hold on authority will vanish.

Fear not, the same thing was said about the Catholics, Chinese, Irish, Germans and every other race or country that immigrated to the US. Once Dubya is dethrowned and more sensible people get in power, people will feel more secure. Right now, people are very insecure and that always makes some blather on about fantasy threats.

I hope others find candojj's comments as disturbing and unacceptable as I do. I teach middle school in a city that has a mosque. There are Muslims in my school. To suggest that these citizens, by virtue of nothing other than their religion, are somehow disloyal and deserving of deportation is, frankly, sick.

To say broadly of a people, "They will lie and do anything for the cause of the Quran," is as silly and innacurate to say, "Americans are undecuated, prejudiced morons who have let their fears of things new and unknown get the better of them."

It may very well be true of a few, however.
