From SearingTruth's "A Future of the Brave" -

Mirror

My friends, sometimes the most difficult thing about fighting evil is realizing that it actually exists, and then unambiguously and forcefully calling it what it is.

History shows time and time again that one of evils greatest strengths is its ability to disguise itself as good, or at least a temporary necessity, until that last fatal moment when its revelation becomes clear, indisputable, and inescapable.

So today let us take a clear and unadulterated look into the mirror at ourselves.

Just six years ago we were one of the most respected and admired defenders of democracy and human rights in history. Respected not only by our friends, but even begrudgingly by most of our enemies. In fact, even the fantastic power of our military paled in comparison to the overwhelming might of our moral authority.

Today we are a nation that operates secret prisons occupied by anonymous inmates, illegally abducted and held indefinitely without charge or representation. We are guilty of torture. We are guilty of murder. We are guilty of preemptive war of conquest. We are guilty of the wholesale surveillance of our population, suppressing all hope of privacy and free dissent. And we are guilty of disgracing our nation through the abandonment of even our most basic precepts of morality.

If this is not evil, then nothing we have ever fought against is evil, and nothing we have ever fought for is good.

This NEO-FATS talk coming from probably republican folks, are just mad that the situation did not go as they all thought it would, and they are mad and think the rest of the world cant possibly come up with a solution on this problem since they couldnt.
So we are all wrong in our opinions people, and should let the republicans fight this 500 billion dollar and counting war with over 3000 american casulties and counting, and not to mention not having a plan to end this situation except the hope of the terrorist giving up or Iraq is a normal functioning government overnight. I mean really, we diddnt need that money for healthcare, border security, state and federal funds. None of that.
We need to rely on their decisions. Remember, it was Bin Laden's men that attacked us and we went after Iraq!!!! That was a great strategy, wasn't it people!!!!

The 140,000 plus soldiers in Iraq can continue more important missions like handling a situation with North Korea. These people are bluntly telling the world they are building more Nuclear bombs and they want to use it. Iran, they are making it obvious that they are in the process of nuclear activities and being very secretive about it. The God *** border needs security. Iraq was a huge mess but we did what we had to do. Besides shooting off the terrorists that are harming our military, we dont need to be there holding their hands and walking them through every event of becoming a full fledged society. The foundation is already built by us and is there. We are done there.

Well stopneofatbs, lets look at things like this. I have gone down to the state office and voiced my opinion loud and clear. I have joined the minute man groups with a shot gun and a 9mm to push out people that dont need to be here. But if you read my opinion word for word, you would see that I did not say cut and run. WE HAVE already done what we needed to do as far as remove one government and put in a new one. We have helped them jump start a basic military structure, we have given them a very large economic lump sum and will continue to help. We have killed thousands upon thousands of insurgents and will probably continue to do so till we leave. You honestly think in your right mind that these terrorist are going to stop and give up to us once they realize how powerful we really are after all the drama and chaos we have caused. Not on any God given day. Remember, we have the worlds best military, they have a few bombs and rocks and they are not giving up for nothing. They are just as hard headed as we are in resolve. The war in Iraq will continue for ever like things are in Israel against the palestineans. These people in the middle east are really stuck back in time mentally, they dont have a *** thing to lose except family which I'm betting every person there has lost at least one loved one to war. So we are done in our objective in Iraq unless we plan on making it the 53rd state.

I never stated anywhere that we went into Iraq or Afghanistan to make their lives better. We went into Afghanistan because of the Taliban supported Al Queda who flew our planes into the multiple tragedys of 9/11.As far as Iraq goes I know that 11 days into Bush first term he wanted a battle plan for Iraq.In addition after 9/11 he told Richard Clarke then terrorist czar to find a way to blame it on Saddam.I honestly have no clue just theories as to why we went into Iraq and none of them are faulty intelligence. As far Iran goes ,yes the leader is a nut but before we invade let's have conrete evidence of his attentions. The U.N. reports suggest that he does not have the capability to make a nuclear bomb and is no where near the stage of developement. To me the jury is still out on this report.Second in regards to Iran, our own military assessment is that it is not winnable. This was on this website earlier this week and finally if sanctions are imposed do you not think that Iran will cash in all of it's U.S. bonds. There is no easy solution to Iran.

Everyone lets stop with the name calling and who is liberal or conservative bias.Instead let us seek solutions.I have proposed many,I cannot say with utmost sincerity that they will work however any reasonable alternative to stay the course is worth a try.I repeat this does not mean cut and run.It means that we have to find ways of deterring people from becoming terrorist and that we seriously need to examine the Iraqi goverment, military and police. It is blatantly obvious that some if not many are working with the militias, insurgents and terrorist. So come up with reasonable solutions and voice them to your elected leaders,if they turn a deaf ear vote them out.

So many of us ( including myself ) have bashed on this administration on the *** choices that they have made as far as the approach to the war, the war itself, and the foreign policies that have messed up our reputation around the world. At this point, since we HAVE created more terrorist groups around the world to fight against us, we really do need to start moving out of Iraq with a plan to let the middle east know that we wanted Saddam out of power and now they can live the way they want. We gave you guys a jump start in starting a new government, military, and economic aid. Now we can start moving out, give them their power to make decisions and every one is happy.
Lets be real, there are a lot of countries that are against this administration. If they were to come and invade and try to change our government, I WOULD BE FIGHTING TILL I DIE OR THEY LEAVE too. Even if I did not like our administration! I would not feel comfortable with another government on our soil telling us what to do. Nobody in their right minds would.
We cant stay there any more people. Everyone needs to write a letter to our lawmakers and tell them we need our soilders to come home safe back to the arms of loved ones and the arms of all America. We dont need any more harm done to us or others. 300 million people in the United States can voice their opinion and win against few that acutally make the decisions because of money or authority. No matter how stupid or rude they are.

"it is impossible to police a country the size of Texas with 140,000 soldiers.Texas has that many police officers and is not fighting a civil war."

There are 663,535 police officers in the United States. I doubt 140,000 of them are in Texas.

My comment regarding the Bible, drgoodwin12, refers to Bubba's claims of divine guidance in his decision to invade Iraq.

What I personally find inexcuseable is that the Bubba Dubya administration has obviously been aware of the National Intelligence Estimate since at least April yet they continue to blatantly lie to the American public that the war is making America safer.

Obviously, this team has no shame.

First off a little less bible and more common sense would have kept us from getting into this. The war in Iraq has nothing do with the bible. It was premeditated by Bush. A little more common sense, yes we should never have allowed Bush to become president. Finally the Washington Post article only reaffirms what I have been saying that we have to place more effort on deterring people from becoming terrorist instead of the 85% to 90% we spend on military action. read the article it is free,at the Washington Post. This is not a Holy War despite the claims of individuals. Most Muslims would be willing to live peacefully side by side Christians as would Hindus,Buddist.

In addition, drgoodwin12, a little less Bible and a little more common sense would have kept us from stepping in this stinking pile of manure, in my opinion.

You are correct drgoodwin12, that and end to fomenting recruitment is the key. Unfortunately, for all of us, we have an administration that thinks deterring recruitment means continuing the crusades and killing every Muslim they come across.

The CBS article, Iraq War Made Terror Worse, is awful. I suggest everyone check out the Washington Post story at their website or the same story posted at MSNBC. Their superior article explains in detail how the war in Iraq has made the U.S. LESS safe.

Has anyone here really read their bible,if they had they would realize that acceptance of Christ makes one a Jew. I do not say this to slander as a born again Christian I am accordng to the bible a Jew.What all of this has do with this report is nothing.Terrorism is on the rise because we don have a policy that deters recruitment, instead we have a policy that embellishes recruitment. The war in Iraq which I do not know how many times I will have to repeat this and the sources was in the planning stages 11 days into Bush first term(Source:AGAINST ALL ENEMIES and THE COST OF LOYALTY)both written by republicans and never rebuked. We as a nation have to bring the war to an end.We cannot cut and run but stay the course is not working. The Iraqi goverment, military and police (not all)are in cahoots with the militias, insurgents and terrorist. The attacks that all have planned out come with inside information. The question is as it should be how to address the situation.More U.S. military is not working,it is impossible to police a country the size of Texas with 140,000 soldiers.Texas has that many police officers and is not fighting a civil war. This is like Vietnam, you honestly do not know who is on your side. This like Vietnam should be a two pronged war,one militarily and the other deterring recruitment into these various enemy factions. If we can put together a sound, cohesive policy of deterrment then we can pullour troops out.

One thing I KNOW is, I don't really know why G.W. Bush sent US service men and women to be killed and maimed in Iraq. We do have some smart people in our government, but they%u2019re not in the White House, that I know too.

Most of the experts Bush and Chenney had at their disposal said going to Iraq is a mistake.

DOE: "The tubes cannot be use for a centrifuge"
CIA: "NO yellow cake connection"
NSA: "no contact between Iraq and Al Qaeda"
Pentagon: "Taking Iraq will be a long a hard fought guerrilla warfare exercise"

Funny, I don't remember hearing much of this dissent in the run-up to "The GOP/Bush Iraq War".
Why? I don't know, but I do know that Republicans were and are in power everywhere in our government.

Message to Bush, Chenney, Rumsfeld, and all the rest of the White House fools:

I put the blame solely in your hands for the cursory war in Iraq, which you and your sloppy administration led us into.

I WANT FAMILY OF MINE TO COME HOME ALIVE FROM IRAQ. I NEVER WANT CURSORY LEADERS PUTTING MY FAMILIY IN HARMS WAY, WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHY OR FOR DISPUTED REASONS.

Shame on Republicans for their lack of imagination, their poor performance as leaders and their willful ignorance when adapting policies that effect the lives of every American.

We have to do everything in our power to remove these incompetent leaders from power.
Americans need to vote with their minds and not their emotions so Congress can be made up of leaders that will do the same.
