No doubt, Romney was the best performer in Wednesday's debate----emphasis on 'performer'; focusing primarily on generalities and dancing upon the periphery of a majority of the issues.
Although there was little if any substance in anything he said------he sure did sound good! Could have sold a glass of saltwater to a sailor marooned at sea, which is analogous to his and Ryan's prescription for a floundering economy and struggling middle class!
I hope those watching and listening realize this and know that looking and sounding good doesn't necessarily make for the best policy!
I'm not looking for a president who is the best debater but one who is honest, deliberate, thoughtful and decisive and who wants what's best for 'all Americans'. These are qualities that Obama has and Romney doesn't!
Romney's a first-class chameleon, as evidenced by his now saying he was completely wrong about the 47% and for numerous other statements in the past!
As for the 47%, did he mean he was wrong to have said it or wrong about what he said? I guess we'll never know!

For both men, the debate was a microcosm of his their ethics. Obama is a highly intelligent, albeit lazy, charmer. He could have made straight A's in school by applying himself, but found he could get by with B's and C's without studying.
Obama applied that same M.O. in preparation for this debate. Although he did spend a few days "practice" debating with John Kerry, Obama chose a luxurious Las Vegas golf resort as the venue. Anybody want to bet that Obama didn't play a few rounds of golf during the time he should have been honing debating skills?
Further, Obama deploys the same work ethic to the job of president. It's why Obama rarely attends the national security briefings held every morning. Doubtless, Obama prepares for critical meetings with world leaders in the same way, very little. Instead, either depends on his speaking skills and charisma to get him through... or shifts responsibility to others. Like how he let Reid and Pelosi write Obamacare, and push it through Congress instead of being a real leader, and insisting on bi-partisan support... and actually working with members of both parties, like the best presidents have done, with important legislation.
But, as John Sununu said recently, "Obama is lazy."
Mitt Romney's work ethic is just the opposite. Romney comes across as a quiet, reserved, sometimes stiff, kind of guy... He wasn't born with the natural charm of Obama, and probably had to work hard to make top grades. As a successful CEO, he's learned to over-prepare for every meeting, always set objectives, build a plan to achieve them. In this case, the meeting was the first presidential debate.
And Romney, because he worked so hard on the debate preparation, he achieved exactly the desired outcome... He not only won the debate, but he revealed the "real" Obama to the American people.
And, the way Romney prepared for this 90 minute debate portends how he'll tackle the chores of the President of the United States.
It really was a shabby showing by the President. He looked dishonest. In the past his likeable persona always transcended his dishonest character, so many people were fooled. I think in this case, without his teleprompters and advisors behind the scenes telling him what to say, he was bewildered, lost, befuddled, out of steam - simply out of his league. Obama really is a created President. Created by the press, the letists, etc. I'd say he looked like an empty suit on stage. In this case his demeanor matched who he really is. Hopefully, it was wake-up call for the mindless ramble that follow him.
Romney won the debate because he has background ! He knows who he is and what he believes in . Obama could not compete with that and it was obvious. Romneys father was an immigrant who rose to the top echelons of American industry and Obamas father was what ? Roll models matter. Obamas roll models were Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, and a Communist step father. Obama is a product of liberal academia and Romney got an education and put it to use in the real world. Obama never worked a day in the real world and it shows.
Body language, hard to tell Obama look like a student who didn't do his homework, and had his head down a third of the time, or maybe they should be doing something about Obama's terrible and annoying habit of uh uh uh uh uh uh, the guy just can't put two sentences together without reading them.
