- While he may be a conservative, John Roberts only took sides with the law, which is what a supreme court justice is supposed to do. They should not vote on party lines, they should vote based on the law and nothing more. Since the mandate is basically a tax and since the government can legally impose a tax, then the law should not be struck down. The other 4 justices should be ashamed for voting on party lines.....
