A true American is some one who was born here, raised here, and pays TAXES here! It is also those who have gone above and beyond, ie... A member, current or veteran of the U.S. Military. I could continue my rant but I will wait to see your response but next time try to leave out the poor adjectives (ie. -ss) it does not help validate your argument.
Now to address the remainder of your comment. When my ansestors came to the States we did not have laws that are on the books today. The laws that our, True Americas, forefather's put in place to protect this great nation. The law is the law, it should NOT be used for political influence and everyone should obey the Law. If someone has a problem with the law it should be directed to the Legislative Branch ( Artical 1 of the Constitution of the United States). I believe that they were removed from the equation because they would not approve.

Republicans are up in arms over Obama's actions but they had a chance to end the confusion by passing the dream act and didn't because they want things to remain status quo. The Republican dominated house refuse to act on immigration so Obama did what any good President would do, he used an exucutive order to pass a short term solution to an immigration problem that has been going on for far to long. Credos to the President for taking an unpopular stand on immigration because it's the right thing to do.
Several questions come to mind. If this a "temporary" solution, what date will the "dream" program end? Will the "dream people" that get work cards be eligible for unemployment, food stamps and housing assistance? Will the families of "dream people" still be deported? Will families of "dream people" be allowed chain migration? What will constitute proper documentations to be eligible to become a "dream person"?
Now that a rush to the border of illegals with false papers, I believe that the projected 800,000 "dream people" will soon become millions of "dream people". Within days every corner of the barrio will have "proper papers" for sale.
ANYTHING to get votes ! ! ! obams is a poor excuse for a president, and will even circumvent the legal and constitutional way of doing things - - exercising his POWER - - to woo the illegal and somewhat illiterates to think he is their panacea ! !! He is despicable and hopefully most of the voters will see through his BS come November. He knows there are millions of LEGAL Americans out of work, but he encourages and even has the audacity to say that "it is the right thing to do" - - to get the young illegals work permits. Each work permit and job given to an illegal is one less job for a REAL American.
Well, read the responses from me and others on this issue... private industry benefits from illegals, McCain has flip-flopped, and even Reagan put out amnesty in 1986... but, to you, they're all liberals too no doubt...
Obama is pandering for the Hispanic vote and knows he needs Hispanics to vote for him in order to win his re-election in November. He could have signed this Executive Order when he first came into office while waiting for legislation such as the Dream Act or similar legislation to be passed by Congress.
When President Obama was running for office he said one of his priorities would be immigration reform. He NEVER did that Instead he ignored Hispanic and in his first three years in office, deported a record number 1.2 million undocumented immigrants from the United States. He has deported more immigrants than any other sitting President in American history.
If he is re-elected for a second term he will tell Hispanics "I tried and the Executive Order was a temporary fix. You knew that. I cannot continue it. I will start deporting you again." It will be back to business as usual with millions of Hispanics back in deportation proceedings again, continual raids of Hispanic homes and neighborhoods, places of work and the schools where Hispanic children attend. The Obama Gestapo will return.
The cynic in me thinks all politicians are catering for the sole sake of corporate benefit (remember, corporations will bend their own law of 'supply and demand' to inflate prices, deflate wages, or anything in between, and there is no better patsy than somebody coming here illegally. Once they're here and trained, keep 'em but make 'em legal and then nobody needs to think about any details. But, as I said, I tend to be a cynic. But McCain has flip-flopped on immigration issues and even Reagan had a big amnesty proclamation in 1986, hence fueling the greater cynical belief...)
Or maybe he's playing chess - deport a bunch, feel bad, follow Reagan's beliefs and give amnesty to the rest. I'm tired of being cynical, but I'm more tired of people being so thick they can't even remember 4 years ago, much less 26 years ago...
The issue is about breaking the existing laws of this country just because those laws are not convenient for them. There are laws I would like to ignore. OK to do that? Or do I have to obey American laws because I am an American? Seems that somebody can ignore American laws only if they are here illegally from another country. That's a nice message to send.
See my posts above - there is enough circumstantial evidence to add weight to the supposition all of this is being done to help corporations that once used these people while they were here as illegals. And anyone posting here has the same freedom to look up other politicians acts, but I've pointed out enough GOP hypocrisy and how Obama loves to compromise and cater to them time and again...
We can all thank him for making it more difficult for the Citizens of this great nation to find employment. How does he think this is going to help us, the citizens of the USA? Immigrants send most of the money they make back to their country, check with western union and other financial institutes to verify. I feel violated as an American, the president continues to forget about main street. Romney has my vote, and he should have every TRUE, REAL Americans vote as well.

You've said nothing that tells what Romney would do, and enough in his political party (right down to Reagan) would do the same thing Obama did, and not for the benefit of the workers but the benefit of the companies using them while they're here illegally.

I will be willing to bet you that your sorry -ss ancestors found their way into this country from some other distant land so you're no more a true American than these young immigrants that was brought into this country by their parents. They came here for the same reasons that your ancestors did, looking for better opportunities for themselves and their kids.
