This story has haunted me for 3 years. I grew up with Chris and could not have imagined that he could have done this when the story broke the news (although the evidence speaks volumes). He was a "normal" kid growing up that was liked and had many friends. I still struggle with how someone could do something so horrible and misguided by evil. I did not have to watch long to know in my heart that he is 100% guilty of this crime. The footage of him at the station being interviewed made me sick. The lack of emotion that he displayed after loosing his family was chilling and he seemed like a different person than I remember growing up with. I also agree that his parents seem to be in denial and although I empathize with them over trying to protect their son, he has been found guilty of murder for their grandsons and daughter-in-law and they seem to be oblivious to this fact. Sad story all around and I feel for the community and the children that were friends of the boys who will forever be changed by this event.

The jury got this right, if Coleman is capable to lie once, they will do it again and again and do it to protect themselves in anyway. Defense attorney is wrong you can use spray paint and wash it off immediately, but you cannot remove scratch marks which Coleman was desperately trying to hide. I cannot believe that Coleman's parent could not believe their son was capable of committing murder, when he was having an affair with his wife's best friend. That should be an indication that Coleman was capable of doing anything, even murder.

The one thing that leaped out at me was that Chris worked for Joyce Meyer Ministries, which had a 0% tolerance of adultery and with such a heavy penalty, it is doubtful that Chris would grant, permit, allow, or even infer that it was ok to access his laptop by his co-workers and peers. With that he surely would have had a password, kept it with him and secured, especially practicing OPSEC (Operation Security) as a former Marine. The risk of nude photos and other improper behaviors being discovered by a co-worker would have led to his termination and would have resulted in his wife learning of his conduct. Therefore, he would have protected the access to his laptop at all costs. With those threatening letters having been generated from Chris's computer it clearly had to be generated by Chris.

With all due respect, Timothy, one doesn't even need to work it out like that. The chances of someone emailing threatening letters and doing it FROM CHRIS'S COMPUTER is astronomically ridiculously low; about as low as DNA evidence belonging to someone else. That's what I mean by doubt vs. REASONABLE doubt. But that's what lawyers are supposed to do; that's what they did in the OJ case: take one little detail (glove) and milk that first for doubt, then confuse in the jurors' minds doubt and REASONABLE doubt & you win the case. REASONABLE DOUBT should be based on the WHOLE PICTURE. It's possible someone may access his email from a coffee house computer, forget to log out, and someone else may use his email address to send a threatening letter to a newspaper about an unrelated issue; but what are chances of specifically using a person's computer to send email TO THAT PERSON about matters related to that person, etc. etc.; finally that person having nothing to do anyway with the person (minister) being threatened?

archangel1943 says:
From my Catholic/Christian perspective, I think that Chris, the perpetrator, was under Satanic influence when he killed his own wife and two children. Given his infatuation with the other woman, throw in pornography, and mix completely to get out all the scruples and morals before doing the dirty deed. The ministry of Joyce Meyer, among many others, posits that Satan is very real. Satan simply entered Chris, a vulnerable person, and had his way with him. This is not the first time that Satan has gotten the best of someone, nor will it be the last.

"Satan" is the world, archangel1943: read the Gospel of John; read the temptation scenes in the Synoptics, where Satan offers Jesus the world (i.e. the world belongs to Satan). And the world we've created today is more Satanic than a few generations ago. Now everyone is trading partners; no one wants to make sacrifices anymore. Years ago death was an ever-present reality (memento mori) and people realized it was not worth it to exchange our immortal souls for a few days of pleasure. But now life is long; plastic surgery can hide age too; sex is all over; not a single video doesn't display it (it used to be confined to Playboy and similar "girlie" soft porn). Evil as C. S. Lewis said, is slow decline, not a sudden precipitous fall. That point was brilliantly dramatized in the Garden of Eden story in GENESIS, which proceeds step by step: speaking, hearing, looking, touching, eating, etc. We'll probably be seeing more of these domestic multiple murders because all that matters is gratification NOW. Satan does exist, but not in the form you opine: Satan is in the MTV videos where even teen singers have to disrobe to make a mark; where dress malfunctions become the talk of the day; where movies don't sell without nudity or violence; where reality shows glorify troubled lives and dignify mistakes; where priests who molest children are treated as administrative problems; where even the pope treats the scandal in legalistic terms, according to the letter of the law, not the spirit of the law. But we know that the letter killeth but the spirit gives life.

Thank you for adding satan in the mix. He is indeed everywhere and is taking over the minds, I think through drugs, allowing to have a conscience.

I can't believe that the Coleman grandparents could talk about this with smiles on their faces. They are christian ministers and yet there was absolutely no distress or conflict on their faces and in their minds when speaking about their own grandchildren. This looks to me like they are entranced in a cult type frame of mind. Sort of like those Manson followers when they were being tried for murder. Faces with smiles and atitudes of indifference. Anyone who willingly attends their ministry is either a fool or entranced.

Agree with you and that's the reason why they've raised an evil son; the Bible does say ".....not everyone that calls unto the Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven......." including pastors......

The Ministry should definitely be sued. Had they not been a threat to his standard of living, then he would have more than likely just walked away from his marriage. The Bikini pic just goes to show: "The power of the pxxxx". He's still a psychopath though, so stop trying to "understand"! I'd rather not feel what that monster was feeling or understand what he was thinking as he strangled his own little boys. Not to mention their beautiful mother.

I disagree in regards to the ministry should be sued, and that they were a threat to his standard of living. His choices were a threat to his standard of living, period. He knew the requirements of the job and could have chosen to get a different job without those requirements. Maybe not the same pay, but it would have at least allowed him to move forward without committing this heinous crime. I mean seriously -- murder your whole family or switch jobs? Hmm.

These people live the "perfect lives," working hard to "pretend that everything is ok."
There is more EVIL in these people, than good.
Joyce Meyers is a conjob. The "gospel of presperity" did not mean "make as much money as you can," and buy as much as you can.

These people are walking time bombs, living this "righteous" life (self-righteous).No excuses for this "god will not forgive' LIARS and THIEVSE who profess "moral superiority" yet give less than a darn about the poor or the helpless.

Gun culture-christian culture. The TWO are not the same. THAT lie, in itself, is the nature of the problem that is speading.
The "law and order" forlks will whine about the "evil criminal hordes," but if you look at these shows and crime storiess all over, you will see quite a number of these "hypoChristians"

Take your beef with Christianity somewhere else, your argument makes no sense. If you think the religious culture is the problem then you condemn the wife and son who were murdered for being Christians as well. Or don't you understand that psychopaths who murder are soley responsible for their actions? If you want to blame everything that contributed to this man somehow 'becoming' a murderer (other than his own choices) what about the mistress involved? You gonna ask her to stop having boobs and a butt too?

Weren't you paying attention to the fact that the wife did not want to divorce her husband even though he clearly was cheating on her and threatening her? Isn't that also partly due to her Christian beliefs? So while you condemn a culture that promotes evil you also condemn a woman and her sons for believing in that culture? Your argument is illogical, flawed, and plainly just stupid.

It's clear that the husband is a psychopath and that is HIS problem and HIS PROBLEM ALONE. There are plenty of other people who murder for money that don't share the same beliefs as Christians (lets see, gangsters, banks, wall street CEOs, the rich and the famous), so are you going to condemn banks and corporate structure or the culture of monetary value as well? You're an idiot. Please stop posting ignorant remarks. Thanks.

Joyce Meyer Ministries had nothing to do with this heinous crime--- the ministry is an EASY target for non-believers and all those who delight in finding a hole in the Gospel message. The truth is that satan had his way with Chris Coleman, and I can't think of a better example in my lifetime of how a promising life can go SO bad, SO fast when a person ignores their conscience and fails to say NO to temptation.
