For those who are interested, below is a link to an interesting article from the Arizona Republic (2011). The first paragraph reads,
"The man charged in the death of missing Chandler woman Jamie Laiaddee fatally shot her with a sawed-off shotgun and disposed of her body in such a way that police will never find her, witnesses told Chandler police."
This news article is not based on facts and is nothing more than more media propaganda. Where are the facts? Who and where are these witnesses? Did you speak with them personally or do you just believe what's written in the NEWS? Where is the testimony of these witnesses and where are the court documents or minutes to the trial.
Quit trying to use more media to prove your point because the media is not the court of law.
As it was in the Tausha Fields and Arturo Gatti episodes Erin Moriarty left out very important articles in the NEWS. Tausha was living with a Texas deputy when she was arrested and this was not mentioned in the episode.

Boxing legend Arturo Gatti's sexy stripper-wife choked the life out of him with her purse strap while he slept in a swanky Brazilian resort, cops charged Sunday.
The media will tell us only what they want us to hear and cannot be trusted to tell us the entire truth.
How am I to "get it" when I lack your talent? I find it amazing that you blankedly dog media news as propaganda, but then you suggest other articles from the media to support your positions. Using your standards: "Where are the facts? Who and where are these witnesses? Did you speak with them personally or do you just believe what's written in the NEWS? Where is the testimony of these witnesses?"
I know, I know--I must be Erin Moriarty or one of Jamie's supposed friends or some other woman who lacks credibility. Whoever I am, I lack your intellect, insight and wisdom. How I wish I could measure up to your high standards.
I think what some of the people that have posted in this section are forgetting is that we as the viewer's only saw 42 minutes of this case. It was over ten months from the time Jamie was reported missing to the time Valentini was indicted. That is ten months of investigation that got summarized in 42 minutes. That time included the time spent talking to friends and family.
I am from Arizona and a coworker ran into the Jury foreperson in this case after this show aired. The juror felt that the show did not incorporate a good amount of the evidence that was accumulated during this investigation. Some people have commented on Valentini being unjustly accused. I wonder if you know the facts of this case in its entirety or what you saw in just under an hour. As the show noted it took just under four hours for a jury of twelve to convict on second degree murder. Those people knew all the facts! I don't think anyone of us can cry foul for Valentini being unjustly accused without knowing the whole story.
What you just said is that Erin and CBS did a crappy job of reporting the facts and that's always the problem with the media. Therefore we can only judge by what we are told and that decision is final until they provide us with the truth.
This is an open and shut case and a very sad case as well. It serves as a lesson for other educated females who seek acceptance from people outside of their social circles. Be trusting but not stupid!! Jaime, was to gullible and I find it hard to believe that any intelligent person could ever be interested in ANYTHING this serial liar would have to say. Real friends love, care and ask questions. Jaime's so called friends appeared too self absorbed to get involved. Had they even met this clown?? Hadn't any of these college educated folks heard of "Google"??? Jaime was surrounded by people who just didn't seem to care about her. The lawyer?? Why did he bother to testify since he failed to encourage her or provide her with help for domestic assault?? She was a victim as soon as she made this guy aware that she was a golden goose isolated from her family. He is cocky, repulsive and his history of violence, abandonment and assuming other identities are bright red flags!! He was dishonorably discharged and served time for "stabbing" service members; he was in possession of her property, finances and like most females who realize they have a looser, she likely told him. She will never be found because psycho's and sociopaths lie to maintain control. I would have liked to hear more responses from other women from his life. Overall, he should be proud (with his dumb arrogant self), he sealed his own fate and I hope he is raped in prison until his death.
First of all, the lawyer DID insist she go to battered women's shelters. You didn't see that on the show. He gave her 3 numbers on Monday night and she refused to go. He strongly urged her, as a friend and her attorney to NOT go home. Short of putting her in jail or something, there was nothing more he could do.
"Bryan" was extremely convincing. You saw the convicted Bryan, not the con-artist who fooled so many people for so long.
Jamie DID have him investigated and since she only knew this one fake identity (he had several, actually), there was nothing bad in his background at the time. She had NO IDEA what his real name was, or what he had done. He created Bryan out of thin air, and that person was "clean."
We all tried to get her to dump him, but she wouldn't listen. He kept isolating her from everyone, slowly and deliberately.
There is so much more to this case than you saw in 42 minutes. And, he'll never admit where he put her. Very sad.
In response to: educated females seeking acceptance from people outside of their social circles, he was a bad fruit within her circle, via fraud. Most abused women are abused by those w/in their circle & reagrdlesss...such abuse happens within all circles to the educated & uneducated.
All BS had to do to be found not guilty was to back up any one of his assertions. This is easy. He asserted that he talked with Jamie since she went missing. Where are the phone records? He asserted that he emailed Jamie since she went missing. Where are the emails? He asserted that Jamie was in his condo. Where are the finger prints?
If BS backed up any one of his assertions, he would be free. If he had not testified, he would likely be free. He did not have to get on the witness stand and make these stupid statements. BS got himself convicted by making these wild assertions under oath.
This way over your head; we are talking about the justice system and how it is supposed to work.
People are not guilty because their stupid; some attorneys are stupid and don't understand enough about the justice system to set an innocent person free.
We are talking about FACTS and EVIDENCE not hearsay or ignorance. We are talking about the opinion and judgment of an uneducated jury when they find a person guilty without evidence.
We are talking about reporters like Erin Moriarity that want to be judge and jury whom manipulate situations and tell stories without merit.
Erin is a story teller for a profession and she is easily lead astray by her favorite pastime i.e. gossip. Her style of reporting is more like a middle school student's mentality. In some ways the middle school students have more knowledge and class.
If people judge you and called you ignorant or stupid based on what you just wrote it will be based on factual evidence and you would be found guilty as charged.
I can't wait to find out what happened in this story; what evidence did a jury use to find this man guilty? http://news.yahoo.com/wrongly-accused-colorado-man-set-free-16-years-000543186.html
Justice system prevailed in this case. Facts and evidence were used in this case. You don't think they gathered phone records, computer records, bank records, and fingerprints as evidence? These records did not support BS's assertions that he spoke with Jamie on the phone and emailed her. Bank records could not have supported his assertion that Jamie took $100,000 of her father's money. Fingerprinting likely did not support his assertion that Jamie was in his apartment.
I think you are suggesting that since there is not "direct" physical evidence linking BS to the murder of Jamie, BS ought not be found guilty. There is not direct physical evidence linking Osama Bin Laden to 9/11. As a matter of fact, many bodies were not recovered from 9/11. Just because there is not direct evidence does not mean Osama Bin Laden was not responsible for the murder of thousands. Indirect evidence, or circumstantial evidence, is still evidence. It is not opinion or hearsay. The indirect evidence points to BS covering up a murder.
By the way, I never said BS is stupid. I said his statements were studpid. Get your facts right.
Also, you are making the "judgement" that the jury was uneducated. You have no evidence of this.
A missing person is not a dead body, circumstantial evidence is not enough to convict someone of murder and when the jury opened their mouth to speak I found them to be lacking wisdom, understanding and knowledge. That's my evidence
I never said that I believed Bryan's testimony and Bin Laden is really stretching it for an example.
You must either be related to Jamie's family, a member of the jury or one her so called friends...
Give it up lady you will never convince me of anything because you lack the talent to do that.
Suggesting "this is way over [my] head" is a personal attack. We can disagree without resorting to personal attacks. I hope you are mature enough to refrain from this sort of behavior.
For a person who is against judging others, you make many judgements. You write, "you must either be related to Jamie's family, a member of the jury or one her so called friends." I am none of the above. You write, "give it up lady you will never convince me of anything because you lack the talent to do that." You assume that I am a lady and lack talent. I am not a lady and this is not a talent contest :). You wrote, "when the jury opened their mouth to speak I found them to be lacking wisdom, understanding and knowledge. That's my evidence." You are judging others of lacking wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
You wrote, "A missing person is not a dead body, circumstantial evidence is not enough to convict someone of murder." Obviously, circumstantial evidence was enough to convict someone of murder. You may not agree with the decision, but juries regularly make decisions based on circumstantial evidence. It is within your rights to denounce such decisions, but appellate and supreme courts are known to uphold these decisions.
You can rail against our justice system, but it is one of the best in the world. It is not perfect and mistakes are made. Still, we have a very good system.
48hourmystery2334; or should I say Hello Erin! It's nice to finally hear from you....
If you are a man posting these statements; please quit while you're ahead and tell the woman looking over your shoulder to get back in the kitchen.
Who are you to talk about making personal attacks? Didn't you invite insult when you posted the following statement?
48hourmystery2334 April 19, 2012 12:14 PM EDT
I can go along with Rick Valentini using his alias, Bryan Stewart. But let's shorten his name to his initials, BS, because that is what he is full of. Everything he says is BS.
So don't tell me to refrain when you initiate these kinds of remarks; it doesn't matter if it's directed to me or not.
You're one of those people that can dish it out but can't take it.
As for judging others you are incorrect because what I do is called discernment and there is a difference. Have you ever read the following scriptures?
Proverbs 1
New International Version (NIV)
Purpose and Theme
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to those who are simple,[a] knowledge and discretion to the young—
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—
6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.[b] 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools[c] despise wisdom and instruction.
Or this one!
Dispute Over Jesus' Testimony
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." 13 The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid." 14 Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me."
As for our justice system being the best in this world:
Romans 12
Today's New International Version (TNIV)
A Living Sacrifice
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Humble Service in the Body of Christ
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
In regards to talent:
You misinterpret the word talent and the context that it was used; I used the word talent in reference to the biblical term of a gift as noted above in verse 6.
Encarta Dictionary translates the word talent a person or people with an exceptional ability (which God has not given you). This is why I say that this subject is way over your head!
Jamie Laiaddee kept a private life and all we can do is speculate on her reasons to do so. The parents didn't help us understand much about Jamie so I wonder if they ever really knew her. The father did not say word and I wonder if he has anything to hide. What was his relationship like with Jamie; what's his story?
Sad to say her friends didn't help much either; they seem to be more interested in talking about themselves and sports rather than her friendship. Not one of them really had a clue why she wanted to live private life or cared enough to find out why. Why is that?
You may ask; "do you have friends that live a private life"? My answer is yes! I do!
Although these people are very private and keep to themselves we still communicate daily and so can everyone else.
Jamie may have needed friends that knew how to communicate without asking too many questions. We have to let them offer to speak about their personal life without being judgmental and give them space when they need it. They need to know you're friendship is about more than sports or vanity and we must always be available to talk or listen 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We don't always have to give advice because sometimes all that they need is a sounding board and someone that cares enough to listen.
A private person must not be drilled with questions and made to feel incompetent or irresponsible. These people are searching for answers and we have to be careful not to lose their trust or cause them keep their distance. We must be compassionate and try to understand their, wants, needs, passion, strength and weakness. They (especially a woman) need to hear from someone that they trust that they are of value, needed, appreciated, respected and loved. We are all built for significance and we need to help them understand that when they are in doubt.
This is why people like Bryan are able to manipulate them; they're easy prey to lure and devour. I don't doubt that Jamie let Bryan use her credit cards because that was part of his motive to stay in the relationship. Bryan has no skills and she was the care giver and provider for him. It's not that un-common for a woman to pay a man's way in life especially if she is career oriented. Some women flip the bill for everything, dinner, drinks, flights and motels.
Bryan is still child in a man's body; he still complains that no one cared or loved him. B..F.....D... Bryan, that was in your childhood and you're not the only one that had it rough. There's actually a lot more stories of other people in much worse situations that took that experience and were victorious in life.
I could say a lot more about that subject but I'm not going to waste my time on you!
I think what is very much lacking of emphasis is the fact that the mother abandon him and failed to give him closure on why the father wasn't a part of his upbringing. Very new research suggests that narcissistic personality disorder begins at the very, very early stages of development. This man was abandon, and lied to by his mother. That woman crushed his ability to value himself by not providing him with her love or the love of his father. Ultimately causing him to try and create an identity of his own to leave the one that was never cherished or loved. It looks like to me that he lied so much b/c he said to himself- what does it matter whether I lie or not no one really cares about me anyway. I don't mean to underscore this tragedy I feel very bad for the victim and her family but this is an outcome of a very troubled soul. Not a sociopath but a product of a very bad mother and non-existent father.
@ Dav0014. If not having his father in his life affected him so much then why did he decide to do that to his own kids?? Instead He created a new identity and left his own children and didn't even bother to contact them. He could at least made an effort to be in his children's lives even if he was unable to financially support them and even if wasn't able to pay child support. He could still keep in contact with them. He just plugged the whole sob story of his upbringing up because he wanted ppl to feel sorry for him.
I came from a family with single mother and i haven't seen or spoken to my father since i was 4 yrs old. I am now 25. so that makes it 21 yrs. Unfortunately for me my mother made some poor choices in boyfriends who abused her so i did grow in an abusive situation and i was sexually molested by a babysitter when i was 5 yrs old yet i don't blame any mistakes i did in my life on my upbringing or on my mother or on her abusive boyfriends or on my absent father or on the person who molested me. I am now 25 yrs old. I am single, don't have no kids, I run and operate my own successful business. i don't drink. Not even wine or beer. I never have. i don't do drugs or smoke. never have either and i help the homeless. I give out free handouts from my successful business to the needy.
I honestly am sick of criminals using the bad childhood excuse for their crimes and for their troubled adult life. Guess what? I've experienced a bad childhood and iam not a criminal or boohooing over my childhood.
This is just another example of how the justice system fails it's duty to protect us all from being unjustly accused, or imprisoned. There is no evidence here. A bag of cut up cards is not an element of a murder.
Do I like the guy? Hell no. Do I think he did it? Probably. But I have more respect for the truth than to make a judgment based on a "feeling". I see this word sociopath bandied about here, but the fact is the vast majority of people this society would consider sociopathic, egotistical, psychopathic, of behaviorally challenged have never killed anyone.
Any one of us could be in court next week because a neighbor saw someone they thought looks a lot like you or me in the vicinity of a murder scene. Are you confident that you won't rub a jury the wrong way under those circumstances? Do you think it's fair that you would even have to be concerned about being affable in that situation?
A judge has to base his or her legal decisions on evidence. Why should the jury, that has more power, be held to any less of a standard. Maybe the right person is in jail, but for the wrong reasons; can that ever truly be justice done?
Are you nuts? The justice system did not fail, it prevailed. The circumstantial evidence was convincing beyond a reasonable doubt.
All BS had to do to be found not guilty was to back up his claims. This is easy. He claimed that he talked with Jamie since she went missing. Where are the phone records? He claimed that he emailed Jamie since she went missing. Where are the emails? He claimed that Jamie was in his condo. Where are the finger prints?
If BS backed up any one of his claims, he would be free. He did not have to get on the witness stand and make these stupid statements. BS got himself convicted by making these wild claims under oath.
I love it when sociopaths insist on taking the stand against their attorneys' advice. This guy had absolutely no idea how he would be perceived, because all sociopaths believe everyone around them is gullible and less intelligent. He expected to charm the jurors while blithely brushing away or minimizing any evidence that might connect him to Jamie's disappearance. His lies sounded preposterous on the stand. Thanks, Rick, you helped it turn out just as it should.
This is the problem with the NEWS MEDIA it's all about storytelling and ratings; they don't care how much truth is exposed as long as they get the story. It would have been a simple task to achieve but Erin did not ask the right questions to Bryan. He told her "I mixed the truth with lies" and all she could do was shake her head in disbelief. She was floored by his response and he left her speechless.
All that needs to be done is to find out what is true and what is a lie; it's that simple. The problem with Erin is that once she labels someone a liar she is not able to discern the truth or recognize it when she hears it. She not have the gift or the talent to do that!
I will post a comment later about women like Jamie that live a private life that are taken advantage of by human worms like Bryan.
I use this definition for Bryan from the following biblical point of view
Today's New International Version (TNIV)
2 Timothy 3
1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
13 The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid."
14 Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going.
All BS had to do to be found not guilty was to back up his claims. This is easy. He claimed that he talked with Jamie since she went missing. Where are the phone records? He claimed that he emailed Jamie since she went missing. Where are the emails? He claimed that Jamie was in his condo. Where are the finger prints?
If BS backed up any one of his claims, he would be free. He did not have to get on the witness stand and make these stupid statements. BS got himself convicted by making these wild claims under oath.
