As a german who isn't at all a supporter of the governing coalition - what you're sayin is just plain ridiculous. That said - alex_get, you didn't really listen to what the video said. Schaeuble didn't say anything about the German conquest of Europe. He didn't even say "failed".
It seems you are trying your hardest to insert your preconceived notions into the video. The translation was
"It doesn't mean that we want to dominate anybody. Germany tried to do so in the past and it never worked but it no longer wants to do so today".
That said - there's no mention of the words "failed", but rather that it "did not work" and he actually says that Germany isn't interested in dominating the Greek today - and that's the topic at hand, the very thing we are talking about.
By setting spending rules, Germany is not interested in dominating the Greek.
Oh and the irony is that Germany, in the rules "it" set, meaning EUROPE set, not Germany alone, not Wolfgang Schaeuble or Angela Merkel as a single person, in those spending rules, we didn't allow the Greek to cancel a contract to buy battle cruisers from Germany, worth 400 million.
How does that work into your logic?

I lived in Germany for 3 years during my finally years in the U.S. military. I found the German people to be very practical, gracious, intelligent, with a little of that stereotypical 'stubborness'. Try living there and talking to a few people before making such 'living under a rock' commentaries. Get out and enjoy some fresh air.

I don't deny that Greece is in debt, a massive one too, but I DENY that this is caused by the ordinary people of my country. Such bad press, is only an attempt to justify a badly conceived, self-serving and outright immoral European policy.
The problem is not the nature, character or attitude of ordinary people. It is a massively corrupted Greek political system, the very same the Mr Schaeuble and the rest of EU politicians maintain in power to serve their very own purposes, denying us directly and explicitly the right to an election.
And it is YOUR responsibility as well, not to mislead your audience about facts only aiming to create a frame of mind that justifies the misfortunes of ordinary people as a rightful punishment for their behavior. Misreporting is equally treacherous as imposing the policy itself. Enough is enough!
I beg to differ. The Greek political system has been corrupt to the core as long as I can remember, and elections were held regularly, so if the people would have wanted change to could have voted for it. After the introduction of the Euro Greece experienced great prosperity and I can not recall reading in the news about anyone warning or asking where is this all coming from and how are we going to pay it back...
