Sugar story is unconvincing and alarmist. I expect more balanced reporting from CBS: where is the opposing viewpoint (sugar industry response was lame). This is pseudo-science -- the quoted studies may have some validity, but the info as presented in this story was unclear and succeeds only in making people fearful. I am not a fan of sugar, but there is a lot more wrong with the American diet than sugar. Fructose syrup in every drink is certainly a bad thing, but why not examine the politics that make this the case? Please reporters, treat your audience with more intelligence!

Hard Landing is not the total story, the US Air Force has a space program that dwarfs NASA is size and budget.

I understand the money is not flowing to support the shuttle program, and I even support the termination of the out dated spaceshuttle program.
What bothers me is the statement that "we could not launch an Astronaut into space if we needed to", I'm sorry, but that's not an accurate statement, the viewers are tax payers supporting the Air Force Space program.

Since Lowell left 60 Minutes to work on PBS Frontline, the integrity of 60 Minutes has dropped in value, it makes me sad!

If that is so where is the new space project? why do we have no way to get our people up to the space station? Its like this, Darwin says we evolve yet why is it we do not see ape becomming man? I have not seen any US Airforce Space shuttles in the news and tell me what is more advanced than a space shuttle? The Russians are going strong and they are still sending up rockets...

The end of the space shuttle program also brought an end to my family member's 33+ year career with the Kennedy Space Center. I was elated when I retired from law enforcement after 28 years of service; it's a time to celebrate-having come away with few injuries and being proud that I touched a lot of lives but my accomplishments are few compared to what the shuttle program did for so many there in Titusville, FL. Our family was raised in Titusville; our father was the assistant County Manager for years. We witnessed many launches of missiles and satellites. When the shuttle program started, it afforded many people with a new beginning. Now, the sad thing is, where do all these people turn that have been laid off? Where do they find work? What about being able to keep their homes and supporting their families? My family member was fortunate in that they had devoted enough years to the mission in order to retire after Atlantis's last flight but what about those who were younger? Where do they go? How will they manage? So this remains a very sad time in history especially given promise by our government that this would not happen! This program offered opportunities for many and now it's done! I CONGRATULATE ALL OF YOU WHO SERVED AND TO THE HEROS THAT MANED THE MANY MISSIONS OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM-JOB WELL DONE!!
