Not sure if he is guilty or innocent. Nor would I say this is an open and shut case. It seems like the sisters, 48 hours or even the Bruce's parents would have Monica's body autopsied for evidence (under her nails which Mexico didn't check) in the USA. You would think they would have done this before they buried her but it's still not to late. Why hasn't this been done yet. If no DNA of Bruce's is found then it would be hard to convict because he may not have done it. But if they find his DNA then they would know the truth and be able to use this to get the children. There could be a lot of evidence still on Monica's body. If it were my sister I would have it done. We know that the USA would do a better and more thorough job. It couldn't hurt only help the truth come out.Let Monica speak!

I made this point in my comment above. I would like to think that this would have been obvious to those concerned! I can't understand why the the journalist didn't mention this???

You guys are funny. Check out the Dateline story on this subject. They were arguing that night. The neighbors heard her scream. She speaks Portuguese, so it is not like she does not understand spanish. She was at a 4-star hotel, NOT some seedy part of the city. No "low-life," hid in the bushes and waited to kill her, then dumped her in a water drain-10 feet- from the building they were staying in.
Give us a break. He was involved in another relationship, had lots of money, wanted to break off the marriage.
Circumstantial evidence convicts also. The motives are too great.
We shall see if good lawyers and MONEY helps him to get out of this one. Most likely yes, but HE IS guilty.
If this was your sister, or daughter you would NOT be accusing the sisters of being "gold diggers."

I don't think he did it... The Mexican government and police are KNOWN to be corrupt. They're KNOWN to conduct shady investigations, they're KNOWN for taking bribes, etc. The Hotel they stayed at has a reputation for questionable service. There is NO evidence that link him to her disappearance OR her murder, there's actually more evidence to say someone else did it! There's NO justice in this case!

Maybe YOU did it? That's how far-fetched YOUR "justice' theory is!! "No justice?" How do you figure that?
Justice is leaving that fool in prison to rot in a Mexican prison.
But, most likely he will not be found guilty because he and status.
"Taking bribes?" Yeah, he will be freed. He knows that.

There's NO justice until this man is found guilty.......tried to cremate his wife's body, then ran away like a complete coward? There's no way he has no part in it.

I don't believe Bruce killed his wife. I don't believe Monica and Bruce would have had a violent yet deadly argument in front of their children. I don't believe Bruce would have been able to carry his wife's nude brutalized body out in the open to the sewer without anyone seeing him. I believe Bruce did leave the room multiple times to look for Monica after being gone for several hours. It's stupid for the sisters of Monica to say that she would never go to a spa or shopping; the woman was on vacation, why wouldn't she? Although Mexico is a beautiful country, it is plagued by violence and savagery.

Very balanced comment, I agree with you about acting out violently in front of the children...Bruce was reputed by many to have a soothing effect when dealing with volatile situations and it would seem that it would be impossible for him to dispose of the body without being detected.

And as far as the sisters saying that Monica "wasn't a spa person"...niether was I until I tried it! They found Monica's purse near by emptied of it's money and credit cards and they never found her clothes. I completely believe Bruce when justifying the use of the electronic key so many times..he tried to search for Monica but couldn't spend too long away from the children. I would have done the same thing. Yes...he could have called the police...but maybe he thought Monica was trying to punish him for his infidelity and wasn't sure what to do and didn't want to go in to a panic...that is one that I do question and I question why the interviewer didn't address this?

Nice try Bruce! I guess the sewer was the closest place to put Monica's body. You obviously couldn't jump in a car and drive her to a dumping ground. (1). The teenagers next door hear Monica screaming at 6am and you are saying it was your sons playing games, get real. You are a patholgical lier but not a very creative one. (2). There didn't need to be a lot of blood if you just strangled her to death. (3). You could have sent the sons to your parents home and stayed in Cancun to find out what happened to the mother of your children. You probably thought those stupid Mexican cops would believe a bigshot like you. I hope you get a reality show in jail for at least the next 30 years. They don't like gringos down there Bruce!

There is not enough evidence to convict this man no matter how you "feel" about it. Maybe you don't like him or whatever.... That is not enough to convict a person. Shoot the hotel employee who attacked a female guest sometime later may have very well done it. If you are guilty because you don't let in the hotel maids then I would have been found guilty. If I were in a country away from the protection of the U.S. I wouldn't let anyone into my room either. I don't have much faith in the corrupt system in Mexico but by all rights he should have already been released. I don't know if he did it or not but he will most certainly have a judgement day if he is responsible, just not on this planet. Sad story all the way around. Bless the children and those caring for them.

"Hotel maids?" Give us a breazk. Hist "soft talk" and nice comments about his "loving wife," is what CONS many of you fools. Say nice things and "I will follow you anywhere." That is why you vote for these sociopaths.

The sisters sound so shady and they sound like a gold digging family. I think this husband is innocent . I do agree with some of these comments how they blame family members or random people. They are really out for Canadians and Americans. We come there to have vacations not to hurt or kill people.

anntherese says:
Based on the stories I've seen thus far, I wouldn't be able to convict him if I were on the jury. Much of the evidence missing, the lack of blood in the room or any real DNA evidence, not having an autopsy done before the body was released for burial or cremation?! Who does that? When a naked, beaten, strangled woman is found in a sewer, YOU DO AN AUTOPSY! You gather evidence! The Mexican authorities are to blame for not doing their jobs. He may very well have committed the crime, but I think, based on all the screw-ups and lack of clear evidence, a reasonable doubt exists. He doesn't seem innocent, though. Why would he pay for cremation when there'd been no autopsy done to gather evidence against the perpetrator who murdered the mother of his children? NOBODY would do that. Why would he sneak out of Mexico? He says his attorneys told him he was good to go, it was OK to leave, but if it was such an OK thing to do, why didn't he have his attorney get his passport back from the police and just fly home? Why'd he have to hitchhike to the border and cross with his driver's license? ANSWER: Because he knew he wasn't supposed to leave, and he chose to anyway. Not a big deal, but it shows he's lying. Anyway,I think he may have done it, but I couldn't convict without much clearer evidence. Maybe they'll come up with some at his trial. Condolences to the family on both sides. Everyone is suffering. Sad.
