I do not appreciate the way that this Documentary portrays one of the most beautiful loving and caring people i have ever got the opportunity to be friends with. I miss her every day of my life and its sickens me because THEY WERE NOT IN LOVE, she was in love with someone else and was going to leave a couple days before, It literally disgusts me how they try to glorify a MURDER and make him out to be the victim, I support our soldiers I understand its no cake walk but he knew better this is him and his family using it as an excuse its easy for a stranger to comment on her and feel bad for him when they dont really know the type of person he was, but if you knew Jacque for even an hour I cant even begin to explain the cheer and selflessness this young women had, and he took that away. I lost one of my best friends that horrible day and I will forever hurt knowing that someone who loved everyone and loved life so much probably experienced one of the most horrific deaths ever. SHE WAS 90 POUNDS. It breaks my heart how scared and how hurt her last moments on earth were she deserved the world, and really just dated this guy as a rebound, so not only did I lose someone very special to my heart I also had to watch it destroy one of my good friends heart the REAL MAN SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH AND LOVED HER IN RETURN. I love you so much my beautiful angel we will never forget you

Just seeing video of solders in combat makes me wonder how any young man can come home and try to be normal again. Two lives were taken by two different kind of wars.

The video displays the accused more as the victim than that of what happened, Jacque being murdered! Regardless of his so called 'PTSD' it doesn't excuse the fact that he killed her and he's out on bail while she's 6 feet under. He knows what he did and his family trying to cover it up based on his PTSD due to the military. I have a brother who served and came home with the same condition but he never murdered anyone!! It's a pour excuse and he should get life forever. he's no hero

Haven't read more than one or two of the above comments, but I found the program so sad. Am not military, and was never in the armed forces. My take on this program in particular, and combat in general, is that before putting young people in harm's way, the people in charge should count the cost in every conceivable way. Too, the armed services should be an across-the-board equal opportunity "employer"; for example, at least VP Biden has, or had, a son over there. The past several presidents have had little, or no, military training themselves, so they should be triply cautious, and listen to the very best minds (not just military), when sending these youngsters out to what amounts to an incessant "heat of battle".

Those who send other people's sons and daughters to war while they themselves lounge in the comfort of their mansions need to take a lesson here.

This is a tragic story, indeed. The young soldier certainly had issues. His death may have been an accidental overdose of pain medications, or he may have just decided to end his life, knowing that he caused the death of someone else, and was facing the consequences. The attitude of the prosecutor is not proper: what is the point regretting that he could't get justice for the young woman? What is the use? The soldier is dead, anyway.

I have been diagnosed with PTSD. I never joined the military but it was concluded that I developed it throughout my childhood scenes and as a young adult going through three different abusive relationships. With that it was enough to have the diagnosis. I can only imagine the stress and life that this soldier has had to go through. People do snap and I believe that the fight that his girlfriend and the other girl got into caused a flashback of "war" over him that he snapped. It could happen and I believe he should be sentenced to some time but not 25 years+. The war I have heard has always tried to hide things to keep themselves out of trouble. It was obvious the picture of the brain was just that. Not "There were no body bags". I believe he is telling the truth about everything and I am on his side!!

i am not a judge nor do i have the right to judge since i wasnt there nor do i have total insight into the mind of john i cant say anything more than i am sorry for the families involved in this. as to john to call him a coward and/or a murderer would be wrong it is just as wrong to speculate about jacque as well it is just really sad that all of this has happened.

I saw a story in Baton Rouge, La in the summer of 2010 when a black man climbed through the window of white family. He killed the mom and her sister (both were beaten to death) and he shot the daughter (age 9) 7 times point blank. It wasn't his fault. He just wanted to get some money for his drug habit. He is sick. It wasn't his fault. LOL
