I've been positive with the HIV thing for 16 or 17 years and I have not taken the advice of the Industrialized Medical Industry by refusing to the poisonous medications. My CD4 was 180 with a viral load of 52,000. Since then, my CD4 has varied from 270 up to 480 and my viral load from 29,000 up to 96,000. I have a very aggressive therapy called "eating right"-that is consuming more whole foods, juicing, and cooking most of what I eat myself. I threw out my microwave oven due to the fact that it literally makes food dead (beneficial bacteria, enzymes, etc.) not to mention it radically alters the food at the molecular levels making the food void of nutrition. When patients die from AIDS, no one ever examines the body for damage caused by the medications-it's always an attitude that "oh, well he/she had AIDS, so, you know-he/she was gonna die anyway". Who suspects that the organs failed because of toxicity to the med's.
Do we need a cure? Hmm, well see me in ten years from now and decide.
In spite of the comments from Dr. Levy, as a Long Term Non-Progressor or what is also called "Elite Controllers", I feel this story is extremely misleading. Because the procedure is way out of the range of modern medicine to make it applicable to the greater HIV Positive/AIDS Community at large. CBS News, if you truly want to report on efforts being made towards a "functional cure"...or better yet...a "functional vaccine", both to prevent as well as a therapeutic vaccine for people already infected...you need to look into the research being done by Dr. Mark Connors and Dr. Stephen Migueles of the National Allergic And Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. As well as the research being conducted by Dr. Bruce Walker. While this patient's situation may give researchers additional clues...the true "frontlines" you will find are inside the LTNP/EC community and the efforts by scientists to figure out a way to pass on an already existing natural, "active" immunity to HIV. I have been involved as a volunteer research patient at the NIH since 2000...and it amazes me that the media has completely ignored the efforts that have been going on for over 10 yrs. now.
