Whether you are left or whether you are right, stop the blaming. work on a solution. Everyone is accountable for their own actions. Blaming is a 3rd grade thing. Grow up.
Katie, I have long admired your work; however, your insistent prodding in this interview for a reaction to Palin was disheartening. These public servants were clearly not interested in discussing her but rather were reaching above fractiousness -- bless them all. The tragedy in Arizona had nothing to do with the former governor of Alaska. For most of us, she ceased to be relevant a long time ago.
i cant see wasting more tax money on people who have dug there own grave by over-taxation and careless lac leadership campaign strategies that lead people to shoot... just like the shooter was a radical staunch Democrat supporter because of that campaign. its not sanely arguable unless you admitt you are a dictatership and not a "democracy". politicians should be lovable people not mafia gangsters who travel around having to protect themselves from their own victims.
Obama seems more coherent to me now. i think he's stopped smoking.
i hope Obama's leadership will be fruitful and we can now proper out of this oppressive decline in social liberties.
so all you have to do is publicly insinuate that you are an advocate of slavery and privilege and you can have everyone within the length of a football field monitored for gun possession?
Wow, the gunman had many leftist views, does that make what he did come from reasons stemmed from leftist politicians as opposed to the right wing ones? No not at all. Something sett him off to go after a Democratic politician. If he was so leftist, then why would he go after a politician that is more left than right? Because the politician he went after agreed with him? That doesn't make sense. Regardless of that, he built up anger for one person for some reason that we don't know. However, to say that the reasons are because he went to a school that was funded by leftist individuals, then you are seriously bias for sure. The gunman, like the people on this video said, he must of saw many images and attacks on certain politicians, and we have to agree that most of the attacks come from the right. That is statistically true for sure. Something set him off and towards her and to say that left wing socialist views is what set him off. WOW!!!!
SICK of Palin's inane comments. Sick of Palin Apologists. Tired of Lock & Load BullCr@p replacing direct intelligent discussion. Sarah Palin caused John McCain to lose the election. She is old news and NOT a leader. Her comments are entirely SELF-SERVING and NOT HELPFUL.
I am not saying that there was a real reason for the gunman do this, however that is only being said because his issues that he had with congresswoman Giffords was not solved at all and wouldn't be with any violence. Though, there is some reason that he bought a gun, and there is some reason why he pulled the trigger. Please tell me an instance of a premeditated attempted murder (which the attack on Giffords was) where the attacker just killed for no reason of their own. (I said their own cause he def. had his own reasons) The VT murders had no, tragic as it was, sought after target prior to the fact. If you do think this attack was arbitrary, then wow is all I'm saying.
Cheyenne16, We don't know for sure if the gunman had a political agenda or not, but more and more it seems like he did. However, we do know that he went specifically after a politician. Does it make sense to say that he had no Agenda at all. The only things that the gunman had knowledge about the Congresswoman was her politics, so what reason could he have come up with to go after a politician, that he knows nothing else about besides her political views? It would be very strange if he just went arbitrarily after her for no reason. He may be a disturbed person, but what set him off? What was the reason for his tipping point? Even though someone is disturbed, there still has to be a reason for him to get to the point of that level of anger towards one person. Once again, we don't know the reason, but to say that the gunman has now political agenda or views is wrong to say. He did vote, and get angry cause he thought his first amendment rights were taken away. I hope that we just don't attribute his act as just an act of a crazy person. We need to find out what set him off, so we can understand better what is going on with the political landscape of out country.
Please do not try to put words in my mouth, or edit, or paraphrase what I wrote to mean something which I did not write.
I did not write that Loughner "did not have an agenda", it becomes increasingly clear that his agenda was based on an obsession over some personal slight he felt when Giffords did not personally respond to an obtuse question he asked her, at a community meeting event, which occured back in 2007.
The question was about the meaning of words.
Loughner acted out of some personal problem with the way he felt he was treated by Giffords, and not out of some political motive.
He did not shoot her because she is a Democrat, he did not shoot her because she didn't vote for Pelosi for House Minority Leader, he did not shoot her because she voted for the DREAM Act, he did not shoot her because of a "target" on the Arizona map, which he may or may not have seen on any of a number of websites, Democrat and Republican candidates alike.
To try to make this tragedy a partisan issue, by pointing fingers at a "party", or any political "group", or any politician from either party, or any political hotbutton issue, as the catalyst for Loughner's shooting spree in Tucson, is either jumping to conclusions without the facts, or an orchestrated attack in a shameful attempt to exploit this tragedy by using it to promote your own agenda.
Loughner went after one woman, who happens to be a politician, who happened to ignore him four years ago, when he approached her. Law enforcement officers who searched his room have reported that they found pieces of paper with Gifford name and the word "B!tch" written on it in Loughners hand, also a letter from the office of Giffords to Loughner thanking him for contacting her office, which Loughner wrote on also.
He was seemingly obsessed with Giffords, he apparently did not handle it well when he was ignored, or rebuffed, or rejected.
What does that have to do with the issue of illegal immigration?
Nothing.
So why try to make a connection?
Evil intentions. That's my take on it.
Off Target: The media needs to focus on the true problem in America; since 2008 when the United Socialist Republic of America was elected with promise of change the American people have resisted the change forced upon the people. The TRUE problem is not the effect as you so-called report here, it is the cause of the effect, the elected officials from 2008. The media is off-target and has been since 2008.
You know it truly saddens me Generi that you believe that Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and the Democrats are Socialist, and hold the beliefs of Socialism. When are we as a society going to stand back and realize that we are at fault just as much as the politicians are with the general discourse and rhetoric that has taken place and still does to this day. Is this how you raise your children, and do you want your children to grow up with this hatred that you yourself are showing when you make statements such as this. Since when does hatred solve anything? I know that I want my son to grow up and have his own opinion but one that isn't full of hate or anger, but rather of a thoughtful and intelligent one. It's sad that there is all this hatred toward each other let alone the politicians, and that is what is tearing our society as a whole apart.
Excellent interview, Katie! Really enjoyed the discussion. Nice to see politicians discussing the issues respectfully. I hope this tone continues. It's okay to disagree, but they must do it repectfully and attempt to compromise and get the job done. I have a lot of respect for people who live in the public eye...it must be extremely difficult. We must keep them safe.
