I think that congress should be eliminated from government. The original purpose of congress was to represent voters because in the early years of the US votes from all peoples were hard to record and count. Representatives of voters were necessary because of the difficulty of counting and getting all of the ballots of Americans in the early days of our country. Now with vast improvements in communications and the ability to count votes congress is no longer necessary. The people could vote and ballots be counted on all of the issues that representatives / congressman vote on now due to improved methods of counting ballots quickly. The congressmen in Washington are not only no longer necessary but they are a point of potential corruption for anyone looking to forward their agenda in Washington. Get rid of congress we no longer need them.
I don't like John Boehner, not because he gave in to the dumocrats on balancing the budget. He be getting my vote anymore but I will be voting a real conservative in to replace him. You can be sure it wont be a dishonest dumocrat I don't believe that there is a honest one the only one that I EVER SAW WAS THE MOST CORRUPT AND DISHONEST PEOPLE THAT I have ever seen.
Why doesn't she push a bit when he complains about Obama. His reaction was no answer to Obama's remark. The Republicans did add $900,000,000,000 TO THE NATIONAL DEBT. And he's going to fix it by cutting $32,000,000 from the congressional budget. Give me a break

He's not a cry baby, he's just very nostalgic..... about himself. Seems like a decent guy, buy I want someone a little more realistic about the terrible shape our country is in and a honest way to get out of our mess. I still haven't seen the Republicans explain how they turned a surplus into this financial mess were in. Guess what guys... you did it. It's time to raise taxes and decrease spending. If not we are going to be in deep deep trouble... so the tax rates that got us into this mess are now going to get us out of this mess. = "insane"
Humble beginnings? When the pie has to be cut 14 ways it, doesn't go too far. I only see that as a lack of restraint and could care less. Boehner's nothing but a whiner crying about how he couldn't keep his millions because of taxes. Someone mentioned his crying was due to too much alcohol. The orange color may come from malfunction of the liver (jaundice)
A really shameful piece of "journalism". The President has been tough on Boehner? I started laughing, until I realized she was being serious. C'mon, tell it like it is. The guy has been successful by stonewalling everything the President does, while being the champion for bankers, tobacco peddlers, and every other corporate interest that would write a check. And now the corporations get their payoff. That's the American Dream he's really crying tears of joy about. Leslie Stahl should switch over to Fox News so she can continue her fair and balanced approach and keep pandering to the Republicans. Enough.
Interesting story on the new House Speaker.
In some ways, his story mirrors my own upbringing.
However, I think Mr. Boehner needs to visit MORE schools, not less; MORE nursing homes, not less; and MORE working families, not less.
It was once said that a society is judged on how it treats the very old and the very young. We are failing on both accounts. Never has Sammuel Clemmens quote, "No man's property or freedom is safe while the legislature is in session",been more true than it is now.
As we continue to take enormous risks for the sake of personnel wealth creation, we run the danger of going the way of the Roman Empire.
Let me get it straight Speaker John Boehner says Washington doesn't have a revenue problem "it has a spending problem"... By extending the Bush Tax Cuts he is taking away $900 Billions in possible revenues. What does he call an 8 year war on 2 fronts? Don't we need the revenues to pay for those wars? Yet he wants to cut 5% off every representative budget for a total savings of about $30 Millions. Even if he'll introduce a saving plan, like he says he's intending to introduce for every house session, it will only be savings of 11 Billion per year and that's very generous. That doesn't even begin to cover the interest payments we make on our debt. Good luck! Edan Aharony
Jibendow,
Boehner wasn't speaking to adults in this country.
He was speaking to his primitive base of gullible, uneducated, WWE Groupies and Ted Nugent Fans, aka: the ones who decide elections since Nixon's Southern Strategy hijacked the GOP.
The American People know he's lying.
Your average educated republican knows he's lying.
Heck even Boehner knows he's lying but that makes no difference at all. As long as his base of "Keep 'Yer' 'Gubernment' Hands 'Offin' My Medicare" slave-state pinheads think he's sincere 'The American Dream' will continue to whither on their vine of antebellum ignorance and racism.
