I was glad to watch this video clip of Mexico's president. I do feel like having illegal Mexicans or other nationalities that are here past their work visas has become a huge problem. I don't remember this feeling when I was a kid (I'm now in my 30's)
I believe that our president should take a stand against adding to the increasing resentment against Mexicans by protecting Americans and eliminating the problem through stronger borders. If it means building a wall then do so! We spend billions of dollars on space exploration without even asking all American's how we want our money spent.
What about protection for Americans when we go to Mexico? It's ok for Mexicans to come over and sue us, but we don't get protection when an American gets thrown in jail in Mexico. What does our president say to protect us when we travel temporarily to Mexico and get robbed?
If I go to another country such as Ireland or France I have to leave at some point after using up my stay with a work visa. I have friends that have worked abroad. They came home despite having a significant other over in Europe; they obeyed another country's laws. I feel that we are giving privilege to the Mexican nationality and not to other countries (African, Asian, European).
As a health care worker I also don't understand how I can work without health benefits, but a Mexican illiegal alien can come in and get on welfare? They get medical benefits and I'm working to pay for them? They are in our hospitals and long term care settings (Seamar).
I also feel that the above issues that were mentioned are common. I don't think that the government is very democratic in that the issues that matter won't get decided by everyday people, but a politician who is far removed from the voice of Americans.
Let's see, Calderone wants more jobs in Mexico. Fair enough, they have over 5% unemployment. But what is the rationale for illegal invaders to go north where unemployment is close to 10%? Greed, of course, drives the illegal invaders, along with a willingness to commit felonies to steal jobs from Americans. Greed drives the criminal employers that want cheap, slave labor. Greed drives the useless Republicans and Democrats that refuse to enforce our laws. A curse on all of them.

Three, re-tool immigration law and make the entry process easier for crime free immigrants. Up the quota for our neighbors to the south and allow more Mexican and Latin Americans to immigrate legally, after all they are Americans too. Got a better idea? Lets here it.

I am an Obama supporter, but I agree with a lot of what you have to say on illegal immigration. According to FAIR, the American taxpayer is spending $113,000,000,000 a year on education, welfare, and health care of illegal aliens and their anchor babies.
African American and Native American citizens should come first when it comes to opportunity. African Americans were forced into the United States as slaves. Native Americans were displaced in their homeland by the United States Government. After the United States keeps its promise to these citizens, then we can talk about helping the 12,000,000 illegals who have invaded our country. Until then, we should deport, deport, deport.
Obama's pathway to citizenship for 800,000 illegals will probably cost him his second term. As a life-long Democrat, I will vote for Obama in 2012, but I am holding my nose because of this issue.
