Markoff crossed the line when he killed Julissa. Thankful, he's no longer in this world! My prayers goes to the family of all his victims. We only have knowledge of seven days! Perhaps it's more like seven years!

I do not think he was as complicated as some people like to believe he was. Does the guy who killed someone and calmly walked away seem like he was having an internal moral struggle. I think he was just someone who was wired wrong or lacking an essential part that most people have that allows them to feel for others. Sometimes it just is what it is and I think he was just a sociopath or a psychopath if you want to use a word with more impact.

I have been a psychiatric nurse in a forensic setting in Canada for going on 12 yrs now. I truly believe he has two apposing and distinct personalities,(or ego's),in him.

The conscientious and moral ego was the one that committed suicide on what would have been his 1st yr anniversary.

The immoral, conscienceless, self serving ego was the one that killed, and fantasized about depraved sexual acts.

Hope the latter ego is enjoying hell!

God Bless the families involved.

I think its a sad thing that everyone is so focused on Philip Markoff and whether he "intended" to kill or not! Seriously people....you don't bring a gun and zip ties with you to be "a good guy". He didn't have to shoot Julissa. He didn't have to take the life of that beautiful young girl. It wasn't about the money, it was that he was sick. Obviously. He is no different from the sicko that rapes and murders women. Oh wait...he also likes transsexual and trans gender people too so let me rephrase, Philip Markoff is a Murderer who preyed on the weakest members of society, and he showed his true side, in committing suicide...he showed how much of a coward he really is. I also think that his ex fianc?e is also a victim and should be left alone.

This guy had a gambling addiction & passive aggressive personality who preyed on these craigslist girls because it was EASY. He could rob them to support his gambling addiction & probably the lifestyle to which he thought his girlfriend 'deserved' since he probably felt he didn't deserve her because of his deep seated insecurities about himself. Period. It was about the money, not the sex or he would have raped, beaten, & perhaps murdered them all but didn't. Just a dorky 'thrill seeker' who believed that his only 'outlet' was gambling & possibly the thrill of taking these girls money by force. Probably been such a 'good boy' all his life to please everyone & could no longer suppress his own dark desires any longer. This whole 7 days just seemed like some desperate 'frenzy' to me because this was NOT a dumb guy but he made some really DUMB mistakes. Think he'd simply lost control. His eyes just looked totally empty at his arraignment. Then the 'good boy' persona returned once he was sittin in that jail cell, he realized how he'd disappoint his family/girlfriend/friends once his 'demons' were public knowledge, & he couldn't live with the shame of revealing 'the real Phillip Markoff' & hung himself. End of story. Your seems like a waste of such an intelligent human being but there was something really flawed inside this guy for a very long time.

Personally, i dont believe this man to be a pyscho.. i think that his main intentions were to rob all the women.. The second one apparently tried to fight back and out of panic he shot her. He looked for easy people to rob and in this case he knew that "prostitutes" or "escorts" were easy targets. If he wouldve been out to kill i think his first murder victim wouldve been the first girl he robbed. Not defending him, because he was an idiot for looking for an easy way out but unfortunately for all of them, things got out of hand. At the end, an intention to rob turned to murder and suicide.

I also believe the theory of split or double personalities. Sometimes a person can be fighting a second peronality within themself. thats probrably why the wife had never seen that side of him and why he was so successful in his personal life. Too bad, i guess no one will ever know.

This is not about the type of person the victim is, or what their employment is, but about the disturbed people out there. I met a guy online 2 years ago on a chatline, we seemed to click. It was not until 6 monthes into the relationship that the abuse started. He beat his exes and lied about it. 2 years and i am still learning just how bad of a person he is and hoping and praying i can put him away so that he can never hurt another.
