I believe the problem is with the Qur'an. "Peaceful Muslims" say that "Muslim Extremists" have a distorted view of the Qur'an, but it seems to me that they never say how. I have read the Qur'an (beyond the white-washed versions printed for Westerners to read, i.e.: "create war" really reads in the original "slaughter.") and it appears to me that the Muslim Extremists are following out what the Qur'an actually teaches. It appears to me that where the Qur'an appears to promote peace, it is referring to "believers," (Muslims) not what they consider to be "unbelievers," such as Christians and Jews. I do not understand how there can be such a thing as an "American Muslim" when the Muslim religion, according to the Muslim Holy book, is at opposite ends. Why do I never hear "peaceful Muslims" pointing out --by way of the Qur'an, Chapters and verses, that what Muslim Terrorists" are doing is perverted? Does the Qur'an contradict itself? Does it teach Muslims to be peaceful with "non-believers," and then elsewhere to "slaughter" them? I do not mean to be dis-respectful here. Would someone of the Muslim faith please back up what they claim as the Muslim faith being a "peaceful religion" with substance, not just rhetoric and being "friendly." --dc

The great warriors are really not the problem. Warriors do not attack helpless unarmed women and children. Warriors are courageous and righteous, and have thought about the motives of the rulers. Warriors LISTEN to what the enemy is saying, and SEE what the enemy is doing. Thank you for this great record, for the work of peace you bring.

"Do you really believe that?"

Does anyone remember the Gulf of Tonkin? How about ignoring Japanese warnings about the impending Pearl Harbor attack? The Lusitania?

I am a third generation Japanese citizen, and I will never forget how the label "treacherous" was applied to my people and the blatant denial of their human rights in the Interment Camps.

Open a history book you old woman... They really believe that the CIA some how was involved, and I believe that concept isn't that far fetched.

Do you have to be disrespectful to the woman journalist in your rant? By the way, you **** attacked us -- that's an historical fact. You were not a merciful people, either. Kiss our American ass. You have no right to talk about the CIA after your country's treacherous actions in 1941. The Japanese in America were treated shamefully, but we were at war with your motherland and many of your people still followed the Emperor. It was understandable, if misguided. So get over it already. The really bad thing was dropping the atom bomb on your cities. It ended the war -- but at a terrible, inhuman cost. We hope that never, ever happens again to any nation. Lesley Stahl is a respected journalist and you owe her respect for her success in a man's world and for her wisdom as your elder. I thought Japanese respected their ancestors and their elders. Not sure you respect women at all, though.

I thought The Narrative was a great segment. Thank you 60 Minutes. I also wanted to tell the gentleman in your piece how courageous he is. I am an American who loves people from all walks of life. We are more alike than different. Our differences make life interesting. We can share ideas, foods, culture etc. May Allah bless the Muslim people. Americans love Muslim people. May we all fight against terrorism instead of each other.

THE NARRATIVE

This man was once a terrorist, recruited and brain washed by Bin Laden's believers. He is now teaching young vulnerable believers that that is not true. This is great work. Once he is able to prove to them that Americans are not Anti-Muslim, he needs to recruit more teachers, just as Bin Laden's cult followers do. Great video CBS - THANKS! Thank you Lesley Stahl and Richard Bonin!!
