First of all this is certainly not all Americans. It is a very few sick people who are out of control. The news media and the Republican Congressmen have incited people who can not control their emotions. I am not a Republican but if you read your comments again I think you will find your reaction is a bit over the top. Over reactions are not good for anyone and not good for our country.

Where are the threats? I heard a lot of anger and ill will. But I heard no threats of violence against his person or his family. And how do these calls differ from those Stupak received from pro-abortion advocates prior to his change of position. Stupak, for proper context, it would be nice if you released the tapes for the pro-abortion rights callers. It would also be nice if CBS acted like a legitimate news organization and demanded these tapes.

Planned Parenthood called this Executive Order a "symbolic gesture" on your behalf. They were very pleased because it did not contain "the Stupak language" which means, to them and most people, the EO will not deter federally funded abortions. So, Mr. Stupak, please understand why people are upset...it now seems clear to all you have spent your entire political career trading in babies for political capital.
The correct term is pro-choice.... no one is pro-abortion. You seem like you are trying to demonize the people you disagree with. Being the mother of a grown daughter who was molested how dare any of you question the right to be allowed to get an abortion from the result of a violent and traumatic attack on a child or woman!!!! Not only would these women have to live thru and survive this traumatic experience for the rest of their lives but the pro lifers want them to give birth to a child that was conceived out of a violent act!! Isn't the rape enough for the woman to go thru, you would make them bare the child & then with this child what happens to this child when they find out that they are the product of such a violent, ugly act!!!! I supported my daughter thru years of therapy, cried with her, cared for her, hurt with her and for her every single day of my life and we put the bastard in prison where I hope he rots, he should never ever be allowed out again to ever hurt another child or women ever again!!! We were more fortunate than most, he got 20 years, not enough, but more than most get for first known offenses! I don't believe abortion should be taken lightly and I am quite liberal but I do feel there are circumstances in which it should remain a right!!!! Until you walk in another's shoes you may never understand the choices they may need to make, why can we not at least be empathetic to people who are facing different challenges than us, whether it be socio-economic, health related, color or ethnic background, or whether it be sexual orientation. We are ALL American's and if you are all so God fearing then you would know it's not up to you to make judgments, it is up to God, we are supposed to be forgiving, turn the other cheek and forgive others their transgressions!!!! I am so tired of all these threats and ugliness that is happening in our country. We must look like total moron's to the rest of the world!! People, we are supposed to be the greatest country, why don't we show that and behave ourselves and love and care for one another despite our differences and be proud that we live in the country that we do!!! Violence and threats and spewing ugliness is not the answer. I am just so ashamed of this being shown all over the place that we have this kind of behavior in this great country that I call home. I am proud of my President and whether you like him or not, (and by the way his color should not matter) he is intelligent and does everything possible to work with others. I did not support Bush but I certainly was not spewing profanities at him or Cheney. Incest is a horrible, horrible crime and though many would like to brush it under the rug, you do your children an injustice if you do not stand up for them and go thru the right processes and prosecute the offender and support these children so they can grown up and be healthy amercians. My daughter is graduating from college in June and now works in criminal justice!!! Thank God she did not have to make the choice of abortion as she did not get pregnant but if it would have happened I would have wanted it to be a choice knowing all that she was going thru during that awful time in her life!!
Careforothers: I think you misunderstood my post. By 'abortion in cases of incest' I meant that this would threaten the gene pool of those making the threats. However you feel about abortion, aside from the woman and her doctor, it is no-one's business. It is a privacy issue, but typical of fundamentalist christians, they can never be happy without sticking their noses into other peoples' business. If it weren't abortion it would be some other form of privacy invasion because they are convinced that they are morally superior to everyone else.
