Republicans had 10 or more years to make a difference here and help the common citizen, and they made no move whatsoever. Why should we continue to be the only major democracy in the world without public health-care? Of course the bill is not perfect--but with Republican obstructionism and no true legislative spirit that they were elected to bring, at least the Democrats provided us with a start to a more sane system. I wanted the public option, but maybe down the road we will get that. Let's review the groups that have come out IN FAVOR of reform. Here are the ones I am aware of recently that should give Republicans some pause: the American Medical Assoc. (doctors), AARP, Catholic Hospitals Assoc., Catholic Nuns Assoc., all the major Unions, and many more. Enough with the hate speech, people, this is about giving everyone a chance to be healthy without breaking their budgets; it's about putting people before insurance companies; it's about being realistic, mature, and brave in the face of change when change is needed. If you don't like where the country is financially now, where was your vote going when Bush was running the country into the ground? Get a grip on your emotions and take several deep breaths--hate never built anything worth having.

Get real people! If they REALLY want to CONTROL THE COST of health care in this country they would have instilled controls and CAPS on what ALL OF THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY CAN CHARGE for their services instead of forcing only the insurance companies to lower their premiums!
Forcing everyone to pay for insurance isn?t controlling the medical cost of this country- it?s SUPPORTING the medical cost in this country. Or am I the only one that realizes insurance companies ARE PART of the medical community?
Obama?s only interest here seems to be just attacking the insurance companies.
Australia has an excellent national health care plan. It works just fine. Why can't we just copy the Australians and be done with it!!?
